Chapter 601: 493 Do you understand?
"————"
The solemn atmosphere replaced the previous hustle and bustle, restoring the Jade Throne Hall to its original state, no longer noisy.
The fairies all knelt together in the hall, bowing their heads toward the direction of the throne, as if the mood for spectacle and malicious intentions had dissipated with the queen’s appearance, leaving only reverence and submission.
Including Tristan and Woodworth, no matter how dissatisfied they were with the wedding or how much they objected to it in their hearts, the moment Morgan appeared, their discontent and resistance were suppressed.
It was a scene only a dictator ruling with terror could create, a one-person regime that would brook no trespassing.
Morgan watched the fairies kneeling below her throne with a disdainful gaze, her eyes void of compassion, even less of any satisfaction at seeing her loyal subjects, only incomprehensible scorn and indifference.
"Look at this scene, my husband," she said.
Morgan paid no attention to the fairies under her command, simply speaking out to Reiger at her side.
"Seeing this, do you still think my rule is overbearing?"
Clearly, Morgan cared about the words Reiger had previously spoken to her here.
Reiger’s face was calm, as if what was about to start was not his wedding, but a mere child’s play, his gaze equally cold as he watched the kneeling fairies below.
He of course knew why Morgan would say this.
Before the two of them had made their entrance, he was well aware of the attitudes the fairies held while conversing here and their behaviors.
It was because Morgan could not put the throne out of her mind, even when she temporarily left it to get dressed. She kept the magical lens activated the entire time, overseeing the Jade Throne Hall.
Her Majesty, the queen, spent years on her throne, almost never leaving, nor did she have a room anywhere else, so she went to get dressed in the room arranged for Reiger.
Thanks to this, Reiger was able to witness the situation in the Jade Throne Hall throughout, seeing the performances of these fairies, to the extent that even with a queen claiming to be his wife changing outfits directly in front of him, he couldn’t muster any good feelings.
Realizing he had become a monkey in the hearts of these despicable fairies, made for their amusement, Reiger could roughly understand why Morgan governed these fairies with terror.
Simply because they did not deserve kindness.
"If you’re going to enact the ceremony, do it quickly," Reiger said, his tone devoid of any intonation.
He did not plan to stay any longer.
Naturally, Morgan had no objections, and without another word, she addressed all the fairies below with a commanding posture and presence.
"In light of your obedience in attending the wedding, I shall commend you. Well done," she started.
"As you see, today is the wedding between myself and the husband I have designated. Here, I will become his wife officially, and he will become king beside me, not only as King but also as Prince Consort."
"I will not allow any of you to object," she continued.
"I also will not permit you to feel dissatisfied," she added.
"Remember, every inch of this Britannia belongs to me and my husband, and without our protection, the Fairy Country would lose its tomorrow," she declared.
Morgan’s proclamation was domineering and assertive, treating not so much the attendees of her own wedding as friends and relatives, but rather as a crowd of background decorations reveling in the festivities.
And, of course, the ambassadors and officials of a country ruled by Morgan’s might, dared not utter any complaints.
"We will remember your teachings, Your Majesty!" they exclaimed.
They bowed their heads deeply, their voices filled with fear and reverence, as they made their oaths to the two kings on the throne.
"You may retire," Morgan said indifferently, and the area in front of the Jade Throne Hall was cleared.
The ambassadors and officials qualified to attend the wedding moved to the sides, standing neatly on either side.
Lancelot, Gawain, and Tristan, as Elf Knights, took their positions closest to the throne, attending on the left side.
Woodworth, Aurora, and Spurgen, as leaders of the three tribal clans of Fang Feng and Tu, also stood at positions close to the throne, attending on the right side.
Only Reiger and Morgan were able to stand in the very center, and only they could stand on the throne, instantly becoming the center of attention for the entire hall.
"Master of Ceremonies, come forward," Morgan commanded.
An elderly-looking fairy stepped forward at Morgan’s behest, approaching directly in front of the throne to start the procedural formalities.
Specifically, he was to make some commendable vows of declaration as in the human world’s wedding ceremonies, speak various auspicious blessings, give praise and adulation, and then the married couple were to exchange tokens of their union, namely, wedding rings.
However, Reiger was only present to go through the motions, not genuinely marrying Morgan, and naturally had no rings prepared.
Morgan was well aware of this and had a female fairy of the Wind clan bring up a tray.
On that tray, there lay two exquisite rings.
They were identical, entirely platinum with gems inlaid upon them.
Reiger had paid no mind to the rings’ initial appearance, but when they were presented upon the throne, he was surprised to find that they seemed no ordinary items.
