Chapter 1596: Chapter 1596 Every Moment with You (7)

Xiao Mo tries his best to appease his parents when he’s at home. Sometimes, when his father gets angry, he just goes along with it to avoid making him upset.

However, after not seeing Xia Chuqing for half a day, he starts to miss her a little.

Recently, they had been meeting every day and spending all their time together, so he didn’t think much of it. Now that they’re apart, he suddenly feels a sense of longing and reluctance.

This feeling came over him when Xia Chuqing first went to France, and now it’s sweeping over him again.

He’s not a child anymore and is very clear about his feelings and emotions.

Around eight o’clock in the evening, Xiao Mo’s father and mother went out to play mahjong, leaving Xiao Mo alone to return to his room.

After taking a bath, he lay on the sofa and called Xia Chuqing.

“What are you doing?” he asked softly.

Xia Chuqing was already lying in bed reading a book and replied directly, “Reading.”

“What book? Something R-rated?”

“Do you think I’m you or something?”

Xiao Mo chuckled childishly, “Alright, just joking with you. Besides, you’re over eighteen, so it doesn’t matter even if you were.”

“I’m still young, don’t lead me astray.” Xia Chuqing was in a good mood today.

She didn’t actually mind talking with Xiao Mo; in fact, during the quiet of the night, she would think of him.

She was just afraid of disappointment…

The feeling of disappointment she had experienced before, like falling into an abyss in an instant, filled with endless darkness and heartache…

And precisely because she’d been through it, she didn’t want to go through it again, often becoming very cautious…

“Hmm, in my eyes you are quite young,” Xiao Mo said. “I saw your diary in your room during the day; it’s quite interesting.”

Xia Chuqing almost sat up, puffing angrily, “You read my diary? Do you even know what privacy is?”

“There’s nothing much in there, why so tense?” Xiao Mo laughed, “Are you that distant with me?”

Xia Chuqing pouted, “Forget it, you saw it. It’s nothing special anyway; I just won’t let you into my room anymore.”

She did have a few notebooks by her bed, but they were from when she was a child, so there wasn’t much in them.

“Did you miss me?” Xiao Mo asked.

“Sentimental,” Xia Chuqing snorted coldly, “You finally left me for a few days, and I found it very peaceful.”

“Does your family like me?”

“…” Xia Chuqing didn’t know how to answer him. The way he asked truly seemed to have an ulterior motive.

“Only four more days until you can see me, don’t miss me too much.” Xiao Mo laughed.

At this moment, it felt as though they were dating, although Xia Chuqing hadn’t agreed to it yet, he still enjoyed this feeling.

“Who’s missing you? I’m quite at ease without you by my side.”

“You’re saying one thing but mean another.”

“I’m not! That’s really what I think.”

“Is there anything you want to tell me?” Xiao Mo asked.

“About… earlier at the breakfast café, I heard about it later… that Aunt Zhou… anyway, their family left A City on New Year’s Day.” Xia Chuqing said calmly, “You still have connections in A City.”

Xia Chuqing really admired Xiao Mo. This man could give her a sense of security.

In her eyes, there didn’t seem to be anything he couldn’t do.

“The company has business in A City, and I go there often, so of course, I have connections.” Xiao Mo didn’t explain much further, just smiled and said, “Could it be you’re suddenly very impressed by me?”

“You’re not Iron Man; what would I admire you for? Just giving you an update.”

“I need some tangible gratitude,” Xiao Mo teased her.

“Then I’ll treat you to breakfast another day…”

They chatted casually; both Xiao Mo and Xia Chuqing were not the silent types, and before they knew it, time had passed.

Sometimes, inadvertently, Xia Chuqing would mention their old family house, and though it wasn’t big, she really wanted to go inside again.

But since the house had been confiscated, she couldn’t go in anymore, except for sneaking a glance at it during the night when no one was watching.

Xia Chuqing’s words stayed with Xiao Mo.

He initially thought the house was insignificant and hadn’t considered trying to get it back for her family.

He didn’t expect it to hold so many cherished memories for her.

Because of this, he planned to have someone look into what procedures were needed to buy it back another day.

“Mr. Xiao, it’s late. You should sleep early,” Xia Chuqing glanced at the clock.

“Calling me Mr. Xiao will cost you a hundred bucks; did you forget?”

“You’re serious!” Xia Chuqing complained, “I just slipped and didn’t change the habit.”

“I’ll give you another chance.”

“Uh… sleep early, goodnight.” Xia Chuqing quickly hung up the phone.

Looking at the call log, they had surprisingly talked for nearly fifty minutes.

After hanging up the phone, Xia Chuqing’s heart was pounding uncontrollably, bringing a slight feeling of… sweetness.

Perhaps, every moment with you is different.

Xiao Mo chuckled; was it that hard to call his name?

After the call with her, he was in an inexplicably good mood.

He planned to find a chance to get the old house back for her, to give her a surprise.

On the second day of the New Year, Xiao Mo accompanied his father to play mahjong with some CEOs.

Xiao Mo wasn’t very interested in mahjong, but he was quite skilled at it.

However, as a junior, he wasn’t deliberately losing to his own father or those CEOs, making them happily enjoy their time.

But he didn’t expect that on the evening of the second day of the New Year, Uncle Yao would come to visit their house with Yao Jia.

Xiao Mo happened to return home with his father, and his mother was entertaining them in the living room.

“Jiajia is getting prettier every day. Look at you two, bringing so many gifts,” said Xiao Mo’s mother.

Yao Jia smiled, “Juniors bringing gifts to their elders is only proper. Auntie, you seem more radiant every day; what skincare are you using recently? I might get some for my mom too.”

“What a sweet talker,” Xiao Mo’s mother was delighted, “Your mom is much younger than me. It’s been so long since I’ve seen her; why didn’t she come with you?”

“Mom went to grandma’s. Grandma’s health is not good, so I just came out with dad to visit some relatives,” Yao Jia said.

As Xiao Mo and his father walked in, Yao Jia turned her head and saw Xiao Mo in a long black coat.

It had been a while since she saw him, and every time she did, she found it hard to take her eyes off him.

The man she liked was still so handsome, elegant, and gentlemanly.

“Hey Yao, you finally found the time to come and sit with me. I’ve invited you many times,” said Xiao Mo’s father as he walked over to chat with Yao Jia’s dad, “How come you’re this busy even after retirement?”

“Old Xiao, you know, my son is about to get promoted in the army, so I’m busy networking for him,” Yao’s father said.

Xiao Mo’s father, of course, knew that Yao Jia has a brother who is very promising, about to be promoted to colonel at a young age.

This is also why Xiao Mo’s father held the Yao family in high regard; the Yao family is well-connected and influential.
