Chapter 134: Busted! (Super gift bonus chap 2)
Chapter 133
"Huh?" a female muttered as she walked into the living room with a few bags in her hand. A second woman followed right behind her, also carrying a bag, and the two froze the moment they took in the scene before them.
Lizzy stood stiffly in the middle of the room, her cheeks flushed crimson. Through her loose, casual clothing, her nipples could be seen faintly protruding, and her hands were awkwardly folded behind her back.
On the sofa, a young man was just getting up. The instant he stood upright, both women’s eyes went wide with recognition—and then lit up instantly.
"Damian!" Camila and Mia screamed in unison. In an instant, they dropped their bags and darted forward like a pair of excited kids who had just spotted Santa Claus himself.
’Huh? Why are mum and her friend acting like this?’ Lizzy thought with a frown, a flicker of jealousy rising in her chest as she watched the two older women fuss over Damian. They were obviously thrilled, but both tried their best to remain composed in the presence of the young lady standing there.
"You were coming and you didn’t tell us anything?" Mia asked with her lips pouted as she stared at the dragon, who rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, letting out a nervous chuckle.
"Yeah, I didn’t plan on it actually. I just decided to take a small break from college and come over," Damian replied casually.
"How long are you going to stay?" Camila asked, eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"I’m not sure yet. Depends on how long my work gets done," Max replied, and both women’s faces dropped instantly at his uncertain tone.
"Have you eaten though?" Mia asked again, her gaze scanning Damian as if she was trying to make sure he was fine.
"No, not really. I don’t feel like it," Damian replied with a small smile.
That was when Camila’s eyes trailed down and noticed the bag sitting beside Damian. Her expression immediately changed to one of concern.
Following her gaze, Max quickly stepped in to clarify. "I didn’t get kicked out of college or anything like that," he explained with a laugh. "I just decided to come back for a bit and needed a place to crash. I’ll head back once I’m done with my work in town."
"Of course, you’re always welcome here," Camila said warmly, her lips curling into a satisfied smile. "Hold on, let’s go prepare dinner first. Then you’ll tell us everything—including what you did that got a bounty on your head."
’Fuck!’ Max cursed inwardly, forcing a calm smile while the two women disappeared into the kitchen, clearly eager to gossip and fuss over him.
"Mum, should I come and help you?" Lizzy asked, watching them walk away.
Camila paused mid-step, turned around, and gave her daughter a sly smirk—her eyes briefly flicking down to Lizzy’s round, perky chest before meeting her gaze again.
"No, don’t worry," she said teasingly. "Keep Damian company while we cook."
Lizzy blinked, her cheeks flushing slightly.
And with that, both women vanished into the kitchen, leaving the room filled with nothing but silence and faint tension between the two young adults.
"Come on," Lizzy finally said, breaking the silence. "Let me show you the room you’ll be staying in. We only have three here—mine, mum and Aunt Mia’s, and one that’s free."
She bent down, picked up Damian’s bag, then grabbed his hand without hesitation. "This way," she said, pulling him along toward the hallway.
Max followed quietly, his gaze flicking toward the kitchen before settling back on Lizzy’s swaying figure as they walked off together.
A minute later, they walked into a room that looked quite normal yet neat and welcoming. The air smelled faintly of lavender and clean linen. A spacious bed sat neatly in the corner, and beside it stood a small wardrobe with a mirror attached to the side.
Dropping the bag close to the wardrobe, Lizzy smiled softly at the dragon who remained standing there, hands tucked casually in his pockets as his mind drifted elsewhere.
’What was I doing a few minutes ago?’ Max thought, his gaze unfocused. ’I almost forgot Lizzy told me she was still pure the first time we met.’
He twirled his foot lightly against the floor, clearly lost in thought. Noticing this, Lizzy frowned and took a few careful steps toward him, her voice filled with concern.
"Is there something wrong?" she asked again, tilting her head slightly.
"Uhm, Lizzy... I want to say something," Damian muttered as he finally lifted his gaze to meet hers. His expression was serious now, and the tone in his voice hinted that whatever he was about to say mattered deeply.
’I think I’ve started to like her,’ Max thought silently. ’But if I want to introduce her into my harem, I have to be honest with her. She deserves that much.’
Before he could continue, Pix suddenly materialized in front of him, floating lazily in midair with that mischievous grin plastered across her face.
"So what’s your plan?" she teased with a chuckle. "You gonna tell her you’ve been sleeping with her mum? And Mia too? Oh, this is going to be good."
"Okay? I’m all ears," Lizzy said, interrupting his inner conflict as Damian inhaled deeply and stared right into her eyes.
"The truth is... uhm, my relationship with your mum isn’t exactly what it seems on the surface," Damian began cautiously, watching her reaction closely.
Lizzy blinked once, her expression calm. Then she leaned slightly forward. "Is it because you had sex with my mum and her friend a few times?"
Max froze. His eyes went wide in shock as he immediately choked on his own saliva. "Ho–how did you know?" he stammered, still coughing lightly.
According to his knowledge, Lizzy was never home during his visits, and Camila’s room was soundproof. So how on earth could she have found out?
"Sit down first," Lizzy said, gesturing toward the bed. Max hesitated but eventually sat, and she joined him, folding her hands neatly in her lap.
"You see," she began softly, her tone calm but firm, "ever since my dad left us, my mum’s been lonely and sad. So much that she’d sometimes take her frustrations out on me. I also knew she... satisfied herself behind closed doors with her toys, even though she thought I had no idea."
Max’s brows furrowed as he listened carefully.
"I tried introducing her to people—men I thought might make her happy but she never felt any real connection with anyone. Eventually, she warned me to stop meddling and kept to herself," Lizzy continued, her eyes briefly dropping to the floor.
Max sighed inwardly. ’I can’t even deny any of that. I caught Camila satisfying herself once, and that’s literally how everything started between us.’
Lizzy’s gaze softened as she went on. "But ever since the day I brought you home after those men attacked us, everything changed. She started smiling more. She didn’t lock herself away anymore, and she stopped using her toys. She even told me you’d left that day, and I couldn’t help but wonder how you two met again later."
She paused, brushing a loose strand of hair from her face. "Then another woman—Mia suddenly came into the picture, and I noticed how close they both got. And today, seeing how they threw themselves over you, well... it didn’t take long for a student journalist like me to connect the dots."
Lizzy leaned closer, eyes sharp but oddly calm. "So am I right or what?" she asked with a proud smirk curling on her lips, watching the stunned look that spread across Max’s face.
The dragon could only sit there, speechless, his mind scrambling for words.
