Chapter 48: LIVING ARRANGEMENT

Chapter 48: LIVING ARRANGEMENT

"BAEKYA, do you know if I physically abused Yun Yuhyun when he was young?"

Oh.

When An Baekya heard that question from Bae Wonyoung, he remembered a conversation he had had with the old Yun Yuhyun before.

It happened after the old An Baekya bit the Alpha in the shoulder during a fight.

"If my Omega father were alive, he wouldn’t let me get so much as a mosquito bite. And he would definitely scold you for biting me this hard."

"Your Omega father? Not Uncle Dujun?"

"My Alpha father doesn’t care about me."

"I know— I can tell you grew up without love."

"Right? I probably wouldn’t have turned out a crazy bastard if my Omega father hadn’t died early. He was the only person who loved me unconditionally, after all."

Plus, An Baekya didn’t remember Yun Yuhyun badmouthing Bae Wonyoung.

Not even once.

So, I’m pretty sure Uncle Wonyoungie had never hurt Yun Yuhyun physically.

However...

"I’m not sure, Appa," An Baekya lied, smiling apologetically at Bae Wonyoung. "But I do remember Yun Yuhyun saying that he resented his Omega father. He blamed you for his violent urges and anger management issues."

That was half-lie and half-truth.

Yun Yuhyun had a violent streak caused by his anger management issues, but Yun Yuhyun had never blamed it on Bae Wonyoung.

However, An Baekya lied.

He didn’t know why Bae Wonyoung even thought that he had physically abused Yun Yuhyun in the past, but he used that opportunity to further drive a wedge between the current Bae Wonyoung and the current Yun Yuhyun.

If they get close, I’ll die.

Probably.

"Is that so?" Bae Wonyoung smiled, but it was obvious that the older Omega was shaken by An Baekya’s lie. "Thank you for telling me, Baekya."

Ouch.

An Baekya felt a pang in his chest when he saw the pained look on Bae Wonyoung’s face.

Yes, his conscience poked him.

Uncle Wonyoung is probably thinking that he physically abused Yun Yuhyun in the past.

Haaah.

Were Bae Wonyoung’s memories really this messed up because of that?

Lee Heeju-ssi, you’re really an evil bastard.

Not that An Baekya had the right to criticize the chaebol.

It will be like the pot calling the kettle black, after all.

***

"IT’S ALREADY past midnight, so why are you kicking me out?"

Wonyoung looked at Yun Yuhyun in disbelief. "Sunbae-nim, you booked all the suites on this floor. You can sleep in any one of them. Why are you making a fuss? This suite only has one bed."

"The bed is big enough for four adults, Hoobae-nim."

"Go back to your suite."

"Are you kicking out your own son?"

"Yuhyun can stay here if he wants."

"I want to go with Daddy," Yun Yuhyun said, hugging Yun Dujun’s leg. "I’ll only sleep here if Daddy does."

"Then you two can return to your own suite," Wonyoung said sleepily while waving his hand dismissively. "Good night, Yuhyun and Sunbae-nim. See you tomorrow. I mean, later."

Yun Dujun looked at Wonyoung with a dejected look on his face. "So heartless, Hoobae-nim."

***

AH, FINALLY.

Wonyoung relaxed as soon as his back hit the soft mattress.

An Baekya was already lying down next to him, wearing the pajamas that he bought for the kid. "Good night, Appa."

Pfft.

It’s cute how Baekya has already gotten used to calling me ’Appa,’ even though no one else is here.

Ah, that reminded Wonyoung...

"Baekya, have you decided whether to stay here in Busan or move to Seoul?"

"Yes, Appa," An Baekya answered politely. "It’s a shame to leave Director Park’s theatre troupe this early, but time is crucial for me. Seoul will offer more opportunities to me than here in Busan."

"Once we return to Seoul, we’ll live with Dujun Sunbae-nim and Yun Yuhyun," Wonyoung said, breaking the news to the kid. "I agreed to be Dujun Sunbae-nim’s manager, so we’ll stay with them starting then. Is that okay, Baekya?"

"It’s alright, Appa. I can handle Yun Yuhyun."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. Actually, being close to Yun Dujun-ssi will help us enter the world of showbiz, Appa. We need his connections."

Oh.

That was true.

But...

"Is it okay to use Sunbae-nim like that?"

"Appa, you’re too good for your own good."

"Hey, I’m not that kind."

"That’s exactly what nice people say because they don’t know how rare they are these days."

"Aigoo. Stop talking like an old man, Baekya."

"I am old," An Baekya insisted. "Appa, I’m still going to work hard. But we need someone who’ll open the door of opportunities for us. That person is Yun Dujun-ssi."

"Okay, I get it," Wonyoung said while nodding. "I’ll do anything to support you, Baekya."

***

"DADDY, are you not going to sleep yet?"

"I’ll just make a phone call," Yun Dujun said, gently patting Yun Yuhyun’s head. "Go ahead and sleep first."

"Okay, Daddy..."

Yun Dujun left the bedroom and went to the living room.

He couldn’t come out to the balcony because someone might see and recognize him. Hence, he chose the living room. He sat on the sofa and called Han Myung, who was staying in one of the suites on that floor.

His bodyguard immediately picked up.

"Yes, sir?"

"Is Mr. Seo still in Busan?"

Yun Dujun was talking about the private investigator that Bae Wonyoung hired to find An Baekya.

And Mr. Seo also used to work for his family’s private intelligence unit.

"Mr. Seo has already returned to Seoul, sir. Should I fetch him and bring him to you?"

"No, you don’t have to. You can just go to Mr. Seo after we return to Seoul. Then ask him to look further into An Baekya’s background."

"Is there something specific that you want to know about An Baekya, sir?"

"I want you to find out if An Baekya has other relatives— decent relatives who’ll be willing to adopt the child."

Because Yun Dujun had no intention of letting Bae Wonyoung raise An Baekya forever.

My husband should be raising our son, not some other child.

***

SINCE it was their last day in Busan, Wonyoung decided to have gukbap (pork rice soup) for breakfast.

It was the first thing he ate when he arrived in Busan.

Hence, it should be his last meal before he returned to Seoul.

The gukbap that the hotel served was different from the gukbap that he had a few days ago.

This one has fresh seafood in it.

It was still delicious, of course.

In fact, even Yun Dujun, who wouldn’t usually react when eating, nodded in acknowledgement earlier after taking one sip of the broth.

An Baekya, too.

Only Yun Yuhyun ordered a different dish— his son had chicken noodle soup and mini sourdough bread bowls.

"Have you decided whether to stay here for a few more days or not?"

That was Yun Dujun’s question while they were having dessert.

Banana split for Yun Yuhyun, chocolate lava cake for An Baekya, and tiramisu for Wonyoung.

It’s just coffee for Dujun Sunbae-nim.

"Yes, Sunbae-nim," Wonyoung answered politely. "Baekya is already done with his business here in Busan, so he’s coming to Seoul with me."

"Alright," Yun Dujun said, pausing for a moment. "Then you and An Baekya can move into my penthouse."

"What?" Yun Yuhyun asked in disbelief while looking at Yun Dujun as if he had been betrayed. "Daddy, Papa and An Baekya will live with you?"

Wonyoung furrowed his brows. "Wait. Yuhyun doesn’t live with you, Sunbae-nim?"

"He can’t live with me since reporters and obsessed fans often follow me at home. Plus, due to the nature of my job, I’m almost never home."

"Then where does Yuhyun live? And with whom?"

"Yuhyun lives with my older brother’s family."

"You only have one older brother..."

Yun Inyeop— the legitimate son of Chairman Yun Hyuk, Yun Dujun’s father.

But Dujun Sunbae-nim’s father and older brother hate him...

"They like Yuhyun, so don’t worry— they’re treating him well," Yun Dujun assured Wonyoung. "My older brother is raising Yuhyun like his own son. And, sometimes, Yuhyun would stay with Lee Heeju."

Wonyoung decided to ignore the last part.

I’m so tired of hearing Lee Heeju’s name from Dujun Sunbae-nim, but that’s not important right now.

"Then when do you get to spend time with Yuhyun?"

"I spend my breaks with our son, and we stay in my penthouse every weekend if I don’t have an overseas schedule."

Aigoo.

Now Wonyoung knew why Yun Yuhyun was always begging for Yun Dujun’s attention.

My poor son...

"This is unfair," Yun Yuhyun said in a cracked voice, tears already welling up in his eyes. "I want to live with Daddy, too."

Oh, no.

"Yuhyun-ah, don’t cry," Yun Dujun said calmly. "After your graduation, you’re going to live with us, too. Since I’m on a long break, we can spend more time together once your vacation starts. Didn’t I say that we’d all live together?"

"I wanna live with you now, Daddy," Yun Yuhyun said between sobs. "Why do I have to wait until my graduation?"

Aigoo.

Wonyoung felt a pang in his heart while watching Yun Yuhyun cry.

My baby...

Wait, ’baby?’

Yun Yuhyun was no longer a baby, so Wonyoung didn’t understand why he would suddenly refer to his son in that way.

And I suddenly feel overprotective of Yun Yuhyun...

"Yuhyun-ah, stop crying," Yun Dujun said sternly. "And stop being stubborn."

"Why are you scolding our son when you’ve been neglecting him all this time, Sunbae-nim?" Wonyoung snapped at Yun Dujun. "I changed my mind— Baekya and I won’t move into your house unless Yun Yuhyun is there."
