Chapter 94: Chapter 94 Heightened feelings.
Morning came as usual, and at this time no one disturbed Daniel—which was a first.
He blinked and looked around, finally awakening after hours of long rest from the constant stress being Xylander’s groom was putting him through.
"Wonder what the time is??" Daniel glanced at the table clock and to his horror, it was already 12 p.m.
The hell!!! No one even thought of waking him.
"Are you sure we shouldn’t wake him? It’s been hours, and isn’t he starving??" a deep voice outside asked. From the sound, Daniel could tell it was Alexander.
"How could the fool let me sleep this long—it’s so unhealthy, for Christ’s sake." Daniel muttered irritably to himself, clearly annoyed for no reason.
"Alexander!!!" he screamed, and just then the door flew open with Draven and Alexander rushing inside.
"Are you injured? Do you want breakfast—I mean lunch??" Draven blurted nervously, trying to calm his own nerves that spiked when Daniel yelled.
Alexander, meanwhile, kept trying to figure out what the issue was.
"You called—anything you want in particular?" Alex pressed. Daniel rose from the bed, frowning like something terrible had just happened.
"Which of you bird brains was supposed to wake me up?" he asked, glaring at the two flustered men.
Draven scratched his head, then immediately pointed at Alexander, blaming him in an instant.
"Alex was at fault. He said you were probably tired, too weak to do anything, and the last thing he wanted was to hear you whine."
Draven had accidentally lit a fire, because Daniel’s emerald eyes flared into a deep red inferno.
Alex, who kept signaling with his eyes for Draven to shut up, got caught instantly by Daniel.
"Anything wrong with your eye, man? Why’s it twitching like it’s about to fall off?" Daniel questioned, arms akimbo, still standing in the middle.
"Oh, nothing—it’s just sand that got into my eye, right!!" Alexander tried to drag Draven into the excuse, but the sly fox instantly sidestepped.
"Why are you trying to drag me in? Please, Alex, fight your battles and leave me out of it." Draven backed away, shaking his head.
Daniel smirked, his irritation growing with every second.
"Okay boys, fine. If this is how you want it, then I accept it—you all don’t love me."
Daniel suddenly collapsed to the floor, sobbing.
Draven’s eyes widened. How did not loving him enter the matter? They were just talking about not waking him up early, and now he’d added love into the drama?
"Is this how you treat a pregnant lady?! What a bunch of jerks. Even you, Draven—after I cared for your injuries, now you can’t even help me." Daniel continued to cry, clutching his head like the world was ending.
Alex sighed in exhaustion. The day was just beginning, yet it was already this draining. Remind him next time to avoid pregnant people.
"Okay, Dan, I’ll make your favorite dishes. And surprise—we’re going on a honeymoon, you and Xyle, just the two of you." Alex announced as he moved closer to help him up. But Daniel smacked him on the head with a pillow.
"Get away from me, you dickhead! I don’t want the honeymoon anymore—you can keep it for yourself this time around." Daniel turned his face away, sulking.
Jeez. Draven was just lucky at this point that his recovery was going smoothly—at least he could handle these antics now.
"Alright, we apologize from the bottom of our hearts. Just come and have lunch." Draven coaxed, but Daniel fired back immediately.
"See what I’m saying? He doesn’t love me. Why’s he making so much noise apologizing? It’s so loud and annoying!" Daniel complained, breathing heavily.
Draven facepalmed. Nope—he wasn’t doing this alone. Where the hell was Xylander?
"And why isn’t that man here? Bring me my bag! I can see now—even my own husband doesn’t care about me. I’m alone, all alone!" Daniel exclaimed dramatically, rolling on the floor.
Gosh, not the rolling.
Draven and Alex tried to help him up, joining hands, but Daniel suddenly clapped their heads together with a loud thud that echoed across the room.
"Ouch!!"
Draven yelped, clutching his head. Alexander did the same. Draven’s head was so big it nearly cracked Alexander’s skull.
"My skull! Your huge head has damaged my skull—oh my god!" Alexander whined, rubbing the sore spot.
Draven gave up, standing back while still nursing his head. Daniel stood up on his own, dusting off his butt.
"Serves you right, scums." And with a seductive sway of his slender figure, he walked away.
Man, this pregnancy was literally making him glow! Draven found himself staring—Daniel looked like he had just returned from a spa trip with a new shine to his body. His skin glowed like tea in sunlight, and his emerald eyes were brighter than ever.
"There goes the little brain I was managing for college—it’s been squashed even more now." Draven muttered, while Alex rolled his eyes and walked out.
"This one we’re both promising a good cooked meal, but can you even cook? Because I can’t even turn off a cooker, talk less of making food." Alex revealed. Draven froze.
He was right—he was completely clueless about cooking. Who was going to save them? Xylander was just as hopeless in the kitchen.
"Just relax. I trust Daniel—he won’t ask for such. We just have to stay calm and make sure no one in the family finds out Daniel is pregnant." Draven reminded, reiterating their mission to keep it secret.
But imagine their shock when they entered the dining room.
Everyone was gathered for lunch—the entire family was present, because Xylander had called them. Today, he was ready to make his final judgment known. He wouldn’t allow anyone else to stay in the palace. He had given them enough time. He was done.
"I wonder what this calling is for. These days, your announcements are never good." Rachel remarked, not even touching her food until Xylander spoke. But the man remained silent for now.
Let them eat and enjoy—then his judgment would fall, especially on his sister Maxine.
As they all sat down, someone walked in—dressed in pajamas with a bonnet on his hair, heading straight to his chair.
Maxine, fashionable as always, gawked at him.
"Did he escape from an asylum? Why that look?" Max whispered to Diane, who laughed so hard it caught Xylander’s attention. His glare silenced them instantly.
Alexander and Draven, trailing behind, realized too late what mistake they had made. Daniel hadn’t changed at all, and now he walked toward the dining hall like that.
Gosh—he was never this way. Was it still the pregnancy? Alex was baffled.
Daniel, usually the overanxious type who loved looking good no matter what, now looked like a big case.
"Good afternoon, my little bunny." Xylander greeted softly. But Daniel just walked past him without even offering a smile.
Xylander’s eyes narrowed at the two men in the corner. They quickly joined the table too, sitting stiffly.
Maxine noticed the glare and couldn’t resist. Were they fighting already?
Couples in the mud. This is what happens when you marry your fellow man.
"Bed problems," Max threw a shade. Whether it was aimed at Xylander or Daniel, no one knew, but it was an insult either way.
Draven bent his neck so awkwardly it looked like it might snap in half.
"Maxine, elder sister or not, you will not insult me or my fiancé." Xylander warned coldly, his voice simmering with the threat of what was to come.
Meanwhile, Daniel was suddenly chewing gum. Where he’d gotten it, no one knew. Draven could’ve sworn his mouth was empty a moment ago.
"Don’t even ask me—I’m as confused as you," Alexander muttered.
Suddenly, Daniel slammed his hand on the table, stunning everyone mid-bite.
He scanned each person, one by one—even Joseph and Diane’s two children.
Every single one received his fiery stare.
"So Maxine, or whatever a degenerated soul like you is called—before you poke your nose in my marriage, bag a husband first." Daniel’s words carried a chill that froze the room, especially Maxine.
"Yes, do you want to beat me? Unfortunately, you can’t. If you can’t get married, secure a man, or make yourself useful—instead of monitoring other people’s lives like a lifeless whore—then shut your mouth."
"Hear me: stop parading around like a walking corpse and start using your brain before it rusts further." Daniel’s venomous words left them all speechless.
Maxine snapped, picking up a knife and rushing at Daniel. But the unbothered man didn’t move. Before she could get closer, Alexander punched her with one hand, knocking her off her feet.
Still, Daniel didn’t flinch—he just dipped a handful of rice into his mouth, chewing it seductively.
