Capítulo 716: Chapter 716: Life’s Little Happiness
Rong Ling looked at Li Yufei, lost in thought.
He slightly curled his lips, rubbed his fingertips, and with anticipation suggested, “Tomorrow I’ll let you experience the feeling of ordinary people’s ‘happiness.’ You’ll love it.”
Li Yufei snapped out of it and looked at him, puzzled.
Rong Ling: “I promise.”
Li Yufei chuckled, “It’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s just that…”
She couldn’t imagine the kind of “ordinary people’s happiness” he was talking about and what it felt like.
Rong Ling: “Then leave all of tomorrow’s time to me.”
Li Yufei: “It was all yours anyway.”
Rong Ling blinked, turned over to be closer to her, and kissed her.
Li Yufei: “Rong Ling…”
Rong Ling: “You said it was all mine, so starting tonight, I want to control all the time we have together.”
Li Yufei: “Don’t push your luck.”
Rong Ling laughed softly, “The rights given by my wife, of course, I have to make good use of them.”
Before Li Yufei could resist, he picked her up completely.
His kissing skills were no longer inexperienced, and he carried her all the way to the bedroom, kissing continuously.
Rong Ling looked deeply into Li Yufei’s eyes.
He said, “I miss you so much.”
Li Yufei was moved, gently raised her hand, and touched the back of his head, “Me too.”
Rong Ling’s ears turned slightly red as he pressed the control button for the automatic curtains, and the room instantly darkened.
…
The next day.
When Li Yufei woke up, it was drizzling outside the window.
Outside the bedroom, in the living room, Rong Ling was organizing things. He seemed to have gotten up early, and unlike usual, he was wearing a tracksuit and a white baseball cap, holding the handle of a shopping cart.
Normally, when Rong Ling went grocery shopping, he would push a small cart because the parking lot was a bit far from home.
Li Yufei was a bit startled, “Rong Ling, what are you doing…”
Rong Ling: “Want to go grocery shopping together?”
Li Yufei thought about the “bleak” scene in Rong Ling’s fridge and couldn’t help but sigh.
Indeed.
It’s time to buy some groceries.
The fridge at Rong Ling’s place was completely empty, not even a piece of meat.
Rong Ling thought her sigh meant she didn’t want to go: “Otherwise, you stay home, and I can go buy it.”
Li Yufei: “No, I’ll go with you, but this small cart might not be enough.”
Rong Ling: “For the two of us, it should be enough.”
Li Yufei frowned, “Hang on a minute.”
Just during the time she washed up and changed clothes, Li Yufei’s assistant brought over a membership card and a cart big enough for Rong Ling to lie horizontally.
Rong Ling was examining the cart when Li Yufei walked out from inside.
Rong Ling: “It’s a bit large.”
Li Yufei: “I think it’s just right. What are we eating today?”
Rong Ling: “I’ll handle it, I definitely won’t let you go hungry.”
Li Yufei: “Okay.”
The two of them had a simple breakfast downstairs at their house and then drove to the supermarket.
The markets in the United States only open at specific times and are more like a market with various vendors, rarely a proper farmers market.
So the two went to a supermarket.
As soon as they entered the supermarket, Rong Ling headed straight for the condiment section.
Only then did Li Yufei realize that there were so many sauces available in the United States, even Lao Gan Ma was there.
She was surprised, “They have these things in the United States too.”
Rong Ling: “Yes, look at these bottles and jars; they all have ‘Made in China’ written in English on the back.”
Li Yufei casually picked up a bottle, turned it around, and sure enough, Rong Ling was right. She picked up a few more jars, and they all bore the same engraving.
Rong Ling selected the sauces and led Li Yufei to the vegetable section.
A group of American aunties was snatching up the vegetables.
The level of excitement was comparable to that of domestic markets.
Even experienced Li Yufei was somewhat dumbfounded.
The skill level in grabbing vegetables was beyond her reach.
Rong Ling handed the cart to Li Yufei, “Wait for me here.”
With that, he squeezed in.
Rong Ling entered the crowd of aunties as if there were no one else there. In no time, he had snatched up leafy greens and several tomatoes. With a swift turn, he was already carrying a plastic bag filled with various veggies.
Tomatoes, onions, lettuce, various types of mushrooms, and so on.
Rong Ling came to Li Yufei with his clothes intact and put the vegetables in the cart.
Li Yufei worriedly grabbed his arm and looked him over, “Are you okay?”
Rong Ling: “I’m fine.”
Li Yufei: “But they were… are you really okay? If any part got hit, tell me and we’ll go to the hospital first before continuing shopping.”
Rong Ling chuckled, “Yufei, you really are adorable.”
Adorable?
Li Yufei tugged at the corners of her mouth, not understanding what he meant.
Rong Ling gently held her hand, “I’ve got a special method for grabbing vegetables. Even if the crowd doubled, I could still get these things. Don’t worry.”
Li Yufei: “You’re amazing.”
Rong Ling: ?
Is that all it takes to impress her?
For the rest of the time, Li Yufei pushed the cart while Rong Ling continued to shop extensively.
He could select what he needed from the numerous products on the shelves just by glancing, while Li Yufei often couldn’t even recognize what those things were.
Very soon, the cart was piled high.
Rong Ling stared thoughtfully at the overflowing cart of food.
He genuinely hadn’t expected to buy so much, possibly because he wanted to make everything for Li Yufei, so he unconsciously bought more.
They returned home.
Rong Ling was in the kitchen sorting things.
Li Yufei wanted to help but just couldn’t find a way to assist.
Rong Ling picked up a rack of pork ribs, then grabbed garlic and some spices, muttering, “This is garlic-flavored pork ribs, add some cabbage, hmm, pack it.”
He deftly organized everything into a sealable bag and set it aside.
Then he picked up other items.
Rong Ling was very quick at organizing and soon finished everything.
The previously messy kitchen had returned to its clean state.
Li Yufei pointed to the vegetables, “Are we just keeping them like this?”
Rong Ling nodded, “Yes, when we eat, we just need to take it out and cut it up, then it can directly go into the pot.”
Li Yufei: “So, what are we eating today? Can I help you?”
Rong Ling: “How can I let you cook? I’ll handle it.”
Li Yufei: “But I want to help you.”
Hearing this, Rong Ling’s heart warmed.
Li Yufei was willing to cook with him.
He lightly curved his thin lips, gently grasping her hand, “Know how to peel garlic?”
Li Yufei shook her head, “Can you teach me?”
Rong Ling: “Of course I can.”
Li Yufei had hardly ever cooked in her life. Even when making food for Junjun, a chef would assist her. If she needed garlic, the chef would slice it for her, so she’d never even peeled garlic, nor did she really know what garlic looked like raw.
She only knew that sliced garlic came in small, thin pieces.
