Chapter 177: Chapter 116: Is Han Lie That Awesome?
Unable to settle matters with Xi Luting in a short time, Han Lie’s recently begun happy life came to an abrupt halt.
On Friday night, when Han Lie went to work out, the moment he saw Miss Lisa, a fiery restlessness immediately surged within him.
There’s a difference between having tasted it and not, huh...
Lisa noticed the ardor in Han Lie’s gaze and shot back a seductive look. "When will you take me out for some good food?"
"How about tonight? The night is long, and you wouldn’t want to sleep so early, would you?"
Lisa giggled behind her hand. "If you can still get up, I’m okay with it!"
The truth was, after Han Lie finished his exercises with the equipment, he had no energy left for anything else...
The coach, however, was full of praise for him. "Han, your basic physical condition is very good. Right now, it’s mainly that your technical movements aren’t standard. Go back and practice on your own. You don’t need high intensity; just focus on getting used to the movements so we can start individual training earlier. Otherwise, the entire winter vacation will negate all your efforts. No problem, right?"
"No problem..."
Gritting his teeth, Han Lie decided to give it his all.
"What technical skills should I mainly practice?"
"Hmm..." Coach Lious thought for a moment, then chose an exercise that was convenient but required time to perfect. "Then work on the gymnastic rings. The equipment is simple, and it doesn’t require too much space, okay?"
"I’ll see."
Han Lie knew he needed to train on the rings, but he didn’t know where he could do it; school was just too inconvenient.
Back in the dormitory, Han Lie instinctively looked up, studying the ceiling.
The dormitory building’s ceilings were much higher than those of a residential house. According to regulations, rooms with bunk beds must have a ceiling height of at least 3.6 meters.
The Humanities apartment building was built to minimum standards, but because it didn’t need a drop ceiling or underfloor heating, the internal height was a full 3.5 meters—more than enough for installing gymnastic rings.
Han Lie then set his sights on his dormitory room.
With my relationship with Panzi, drilling a couple of expansion bolts into the ceiling shouldn’t be a problem, right?
"My good son-in-law, go ahead and do as you please!" Han Lie mentally supplied Old Pan’s enthusiastic approval, then happily began contacting workers.
Before that, he had to deal with the dormitory supervisor.
After some thought, Han Lie called Wang Xiaotian.
He chose Wang Xiaotian over others specifically to cultivate a good relationship with Old Wang.
The fastest way to build a relationship is to ask someone for a small favor.
Then arrange for a meal, share a few drinks, acknowledge the favor, and isn’t that how connections are made?
After hanging up, Wang Xiaotian came over in person.
"Young Master Han, what exactly are you planning?" he asked. "I figured I should see for myself, so I don’t cause you trouble if it can’t be done."
Just look at the excuse he came up with!
Han Lie knew exactly what Wang Xiaotian was doing but still carefully explained his idea.
"Oh! I get it."
Wang Xiaotian patted his chest assuredly. "Don’t worry, it’s no big deal. It’s no different from the punching bags we’ve installed. You don’t have to trouble yourself finding workers either. I’ll bring someone over tomorrow to get the bolts and hooks sorted for you. Then you can just hang up the ropes and rings yourself!"
Han Lie’s interest was piqued. "You guys hung punching bags in the dorms?"
Wang Xiaotian nodded. "Several rooms on the first and second floors have them, but the novelty only lasted for a couple of days. Now they’ve all been taken down and are piled up in a corner."
"It seems a two-person room is more comfortable," Han Lie remarked casually.
Wang Xiaotian immediately seized the opening.
"There are plenty of empty dorms. Many local students pay the accommodation fee but don’t stay at the school. Young Master Han, if you prefer quiet, shall I find one for you?"
"I appreciate the kind thought, but it’s really not necessary."
Han Lie nonchalantly boasted, "I have a suite at the Marriott; I’m just too lazy to stay there."
Wang Xiaotian was instantly filled with a deeper respect.
Having "a suite" obviously meant long-term accommodation, not just a temporary rental.
Otherwise, why use the word "have"?
Han Lie wasn’t the only one who did such things; every cohort usually had three to five such individuals. At first glance, it didn’t seem like a big deal, but who would rent a room long-term yet not use it, choosing instead to dutifully remain at school?
Just from this alone, Han Lie was no ordinary person.
To show he was savvy and considerate, Wang Xiaotian added a compliment, "Young Master Han, you’re truly generous! Isn’t the retail price for a suite at the Marriott close to 4,000? An annual lease probably wouldn’t even get a 30% discount, right?"
Han Lie paused for a moment. "Is it really that expensive?"
Wang Xiaotian was baffled by the question. He rented it... no, wait, his family rented it, and he’s asking me?
But he could understand.
Indeed, there were a very few big-shot types who rented a room long-term to live extravagantly, paying the entire year’s bill in one go, completely clueless about unit prices or discounts.
Liu Yingjun had an annually-rented suite at Who’s Garden. Although it wasn’t five-star, it was chosen mainly for its proximity—just over 100 meters in a straight line from the north gate.
Even so, that was over a hundred thousand wasted each year.
Wang Xiaotian wasn’t one to feel sorry for these big shots over their spending. When a family reached a certain level of wealth, merely squandering money wouldn’t be enough to deplete it.
He just hadn’t expected Han Lie, who seemed so steady and serious, to be even more extravagant than Liu Yingjun when it came to indulgence.
A five-star hotel suite, just sitting there collecting dust...
Awesome!
Wang Xiaotian’s smile became noticeably more respectful, and he replied very formally, "When I stayed there last year, I think it was around 3,800. Even using Brother Wang’s Platinum Card didn’t get a discount, only points and gifts. I heard that suites around here are quite in demand, and there isn’t much of a discount even for long-term rentals."
"Oh!"
Han Lie put on a face of sudden realization, as if marveling at his own naivete, then casually explained—
"I really wasn’t aware. My suite is the presidential one."
