Chapter 86: 86: An Attack
"Is there a reason for it?" Lysander asked "Is there a reason why the narrative doesn’t match? Maybe you were misunderstood and didn’t really do any of those... Or maybe you did it for a good reason..."
Lysander was trying to find the good side to Eden’s past. He was trying to find a better storyline for him even though Eden wasn’t even sure if there was.
The book had said he was an evil wizard who did evil things. We never really did get any backstory as to why he did them.
"Or maybe that’s my nature" Eden sighed "Maybe I just did what I did because that’s me. Evil"
Lysander stared at him. He didn’t know why but he simply couldn’t bring himself to see him as evil.
All he could see was the goodness in him. And that was all he wanted to see.
They stayed there for a while as Eden finally ate up the pizza he had. It wasn’t much but at least he guessed that it could last him that night.
And so he went back to hugging his legs while staring into the fire.
"Are you cold?" Lysander observed.
"I guess" Eden nodded. He watched as Lysander got out a blanket from his bag. Eden could tell he did come prepared for this.
"Here" Lysander said, spraying the blanket around him and covering him up. "Keep warm with it"
"What about you? You also need it..." Eden pointed out.
"No. You need it more. So take it" Lysander smiled.
Elvis was pretty much rolling his eyes all through the moment even with his eyes shut.
Eden sighed "Then I guess we should share it" He declared.
"Huh?" Lysander was confused.
"Come here. Come closer..." Eden urged as Lysander sat closer to Eden, their bodies were touching.
Lysander already felt awkward about being too close to Eden but Eden was cool with it. Eden now spread the blanket all around them. He had covered the two of them with the same blanket.
"This should do" he smiled.
"Mm-hmm" Lysander agreed, trying not to look too awkward while being that close to Eden.
They casually sat there under the same blanket while Eden shut his eyes, clutching onto the blanket to keep warm. "Time to sleep"
"Sleep tight" Lysander said while staring at the campfire that was still on.
Elvis still sat there in the same position, awake.
The atmosphere was calm and quiet. There were no sounds heard around. It was just the quiet sounds the night brought. Calm and quiet sounds of the atmosphere.
The three of them sat there under the tree, savouring the calmness of the night while preparing to retire for the night.
When suddenly they heard something.
It was a sound from the bushes close by. A sound that had Lysander and Elvis at alert now. The two of them had their eyes open as he stared in the direction of the bush where they heard the sound from.
At first, Lysander believed he was hearing things. And so he decided to overlook it and shut his eyes again. Elvis also did the same.
But then again they heard the sound again. A strange sound accompanied by movements in the bush.
This time Eden also opened his eyes with the two of them.
"What was that?" He asked, hoping that he was just hearing things.
No one responded as Elvis and Lysander stared at the bush again. The sound came again. Sounds of movements that progressively increased.
Eden also stared at the bush side, his heart hung up in his chest now. He was freaking out over the thought of it being a potential wild animal coming to haunt them down!
The thought of it terrified him.
"What’s.. what’s that...?" Eden had his eyes glued to the bush while hugging onto the blanket which he was now snatching away from Lysander.
No one said anything. They all just stared at the bush that was now moving, sure that something was there. And it didn’t look like someone at all.
Eden then began praying for his dear life. Praying that it would be a deer or something which they could haunt down or something.
But if anything was certain, it was that God didn’t listen to any of his prayers. Rather God had worked against him to bring his worst to reality.
Because when the animal behind the bush walked out, what he saw wasn’t a harmless deer as he prayed. But rather he had seen a vicious tiger instead.
Eden panicked with a sharp gasp. He sat there while Elvis and Lysander instantly got up to their feet in alert, picking up their weapons.
Eden observed that the tiger didn’t have any tags on. Meaning it wasn’t one for the game, it was just one that had come to have them for dinner instead.
While he sat there, still panicking over the sight of the beast before them, Elvis had attacked the tiger that jumped towards them. Fighting it heads on with his sword.
Lysander on the other hand stood before Eden, his sword out. He was most certainly protecting Eden who was too frightened to even notice.
"Get up.." Lysander urged while helping Eden up to his feet. They were now standing as they slowly drew back as though they were looking for an opportunity to escape the scene.
Eden watched ahead. Watching as Elvis skillfully engaged the animal in a fight that proved his skills. He meticulously engaged the animal while striking it in its vital spots. Injuring and weakening the beast.
"We should get out of here.. He has it under control" Lysander could tell that Elvis would destroy the beast in no time.
And so his priority at the moment was taking Eden away.
But that didn’t seem to be what fate wanted at all.
Because as they drew backwards to escape the scene, another tiger had jumped out of the bushes, now attacking them.
