Chapter 413: Chapter 413: Miss Lynch’s Character Is Problematic
It’s precisely because Ashley Shaw will arrive in fifteen minutes that he also has only fifteen minutes.
Zeke Jennings beamed on the other end of the line: "Alright, alright, we’re coming right away. Please tell the receptionist to let us come up to see you."
Just a moment ago, he mentioned being nearby, now he’s talking about the receptionist; obviously, they are already at the company.
If he agrees, everything will be fine. If he doesn’t agree, who knows how Zeke will try to persuade him.
He agreed to meet with him and the person he brought, not entirely out of respect, but because he didn’t want to fuss too much with petty people.
But Owen Sinclair feigned ignorance and said, "I’ll have my assistant bring you up."
"Alright, alright, I promise you’ll like her."
After the call ended, Zeke Jennings still didn’t realize that Owen Sinclair had already figured out his little scheme.
Owen Sinclair had even guessed the kind of relationship Zeke Jennings had with the person he recommended.
Zeke Jennings put away his phone and walked toward the sofas in the lobby.
Rosalind Lynch was anxious, but when she looked up and saw Zeke Jennings walking over with a winning smile, she felt half her worries dissipate.
"What did Mr. Sinclair say?" Rosalind Lynch stood up and asked, although she already knew.
"It’s settled. We’re going up now; he’ll interview you himself."
Rosalind Lynch had already guessed, but hearing it confirmed still filled her with joy.
Rumor has it in the circle that Owen Sinclair is going to film a great script with the new talent he signs this time.
Owen Sinclair has a keen eye; if he thinks it’s a good script, it surely has the potential to be a big hit.
Everyone wants a piece of this pie, so as soon as Rosalind Lynch heard the news, she immediately asked Zeke Jennings.
Originally, she thought there was no hope. Zeke Jennings was just a minor director and likely had no connection to Owen Sinclair, but unexpectedly, he got her an opportunity for an interview.
Suppressing her surprise and joy, Rosalind Lynch forced herself to stay calm.
"Zeke, what do you think my chances are of passing the interview?"
Zeke Jennings patted Rosalind Lynch’s hand: "Don’t worry, with your qualifications, you can definitely do it."
Rosalind Lynch felt reassured, really calming down.
"Alright, let’s go. He only gave us fifteen minutes."
"Okay."
Rosalind Lynch responded and followed Zeke Jennings to the reception desk to wait.
Soon, the assistant came down.
Rosalind Lynch had previously acted in a movie. Although the reception was average, she had accumulated quite a few fans. The assistant’s eyes lit up upon seeing Rosalind Lynch.
Her appearance was indeed flawless, very impressive.
"Please follow me."
The assistant led them upstairs to a practice room in the company.
Owen Sinclair hadn’t arrived yet, so the assistant first briefly explained the performance required for the interview.
Rosalind Lynch nodded and carefully remembered every line the assistant told her.
There were only two scenes to perform.
One was a scene of encountering a "monster," where she had to appear terrified but maintain composure.
The other was a scene of her relative being attacked by the "monster," requiring her to rush toward it without hesitation after a moment’s indecision.
Neither scene had many lines, but both tested acting skills significantly.
Rosalind Lynch contemplated the character’s mindset, striving to deliver the best performance.
About four or five minutes later, the door opened, and Owen Sinclair walked in, followed by manager Gage York.
Zeke Jennings was the first to step forward, extending a hand with an enthusiastic smile: "Hello, Owen, long time no see."
Owen Sinclair didn’t mind being called older; Zeke Jennings was only 32, while Owen was 17 years older, so "Uncle Owen" would have been more fitting.
But for this formality, there was no need to correct the address.
He didn’t extend his hand for a handshake, only nodded lightly.
"Yes, it’s been a while."
After saying this, he didn’t continue with pleasantries and went straight to the point.
"My assistant should have told you what to perform, right?"
"Yes, yes, we’re ready."
"Alright, let’s start then."
Zeke Jennings had intended to have Rosalind Lynch come over to greet Owen Sinclair, but hearing this, he turned around and signaled to Rosalind on the stage: "Rosalind, get ready to start."
Upon hearing the name "Rosalind," Owen Sinclair instinctively raised his head to look at the stage.
Their eyes met, and obvious surprise appeared in Owen Sinclair’s eyes.
He truly hadn’t expected that the newcomer Zeke Jennings wanted to introduce was Rosalind Lynch.
The same woman who had orchestrated the embarrassment of Ashley Shaw with the cake at the Lynch group’s banquet.
Almost immediately, Owen Sinclair’s face darkened.
"Director Jennings, there’s no need."
Zeke Jennings hadn’t quite grasped the situation and asked, baffled, "No need for what?"
"No need for the interview. Chen, please escort them out."
With that, he turned and headed for the door.
Zeke Jennings and Rosalind Lynch were both taken aback.
Zeke Jennings reacted more quickly and hurriedly caught up to him, urgently inquiring, "What happened, Owen? Did I say something to upset you? I apologize, please don’t mind me."
Owen Sinclair maintained an expressionless demeanor: "It’s not about you."
Zeke Jennings’s mind raced.
If it wasn’t about him, it had to be about Rosalind Lynch.
But Rosalind Lynch hadn’t even had the chance to speak to Owen Sinclair, so it couldn’t be something she said.
The only possibility was that Rosalind Lynch had offended Owen Sinclair in the past.
But everyone in the industry knew about Owen Sinclair’s good nature and understanding; he wouldn’t mind a small mistake.
Yet, Rosalind Lynch hadn’t mentioned any prior conflict with Owen Sinclair.
At this moment, Rosalind Lynch ran over as well.
Not knowing what she did wrong, she was so anxious that her eyes turned red.
"Owen, if I did something wrong, please tell me and I’ll change."
Zeke Jennings offered a conciliatory smile: "Yeah, Owen, we can talk it over. There’s no knot that can’t be untied with proper communication."
Owen Sinclair remained expressionless.
"I have no knot to untie with Miss Lynch; I simply don’t want to sign someone with character issues. I have things to do, so I’ll take my leave now."
With that, Owen Sinclair turned and left.
Zeke Jennings initially wanted to chase after him, but Gage York stopped him.
"Director Jennings, let me escort you out."
Gage York wore a polite smile, but his arm blocked Zeke’s path firmly.
Just those two seconds delayed, Owen Sinclair had already left.
An inexplicable anger welled up inside Zeke Jennings, but he couldn’t vent it on Gage York, so he forced a smile.
"No need to trouble you, we’ll see ourselves out. Sorry for disturbing you today."
"Not at all, we’ll still be friends when we meet in the future, but it seems there was no fated opportunity for a contract this time."
Gage York’s words were courteous, leaving no room for complaint.
Zeke Jennings awkwardly forced a twitch of a smile and then turned to Rosalind Lynch: "Why are you still standing there? Let’s go!"
With that, he strode away, not checking if Rosalind Lynch was following, and quickly exited.
