"Now, what do I do about this?" I said to myself as I looked at the wolves that were following me.
After I defeated the wolves with just my pressure alone, they hadn't stopped following me.
As for how I had done it with pressure alone, it was all because of the dragon blood bath.
Because of the dragon blood bath, I had actually gained something unexpected.
Since my body had absorbed the essence in the dragon blood, it had refined it into dragon presence. So when beasts faced my pressure, they would face pressure that was just like what a dragon would release.
That was why the wolves had suddenly submitted like that.
But after they submitted, that was when the problems came.
It wasn't hard to guess why they were following around like this.
Since they had submitted to the pressure that I had put on them, it meant that they were resolved to follow me as their new alpha. So that was why they wouldn't let me out of their sights now.
The problem was that I didn't really need wolves right now…
"Do we really need to let them go?" Leaf suddenly asked while I was deep in thought.
Leaf hadn't been with our group when we came to subdue the wolves, she came as part of the second team that was here to gather the resources that we had secured.
But I was surprised to find that she was already very close to a few of the wolves that I had subdued.
Revealing a wry smile, I said, "If we keep them, it means that we'll have to be responsible for them. That means taking care of their food and protecting them if anything happens."
"I think they would be the ones protecting us if that were to happen."
Well, I couldn't argue that since this was a powerful wolf pack, but still…
"Didn't we just get a bunch of food, it isn't as if we can't afford to feed them. Not to mention that they would definitely be helpful to the hunters since they would be able to track down more prey to hunt." Vanessa gave all kinds of different reasons why it would be good for us to take in these wolves.
I had to admit that she was right about this, but still…
"It's easy for us to become friends with them." Leaf suddenly said as if she could guess what I was thinking.
When I looked over, she brought a few wolves over to where the workers were looking over this area.
When the workers saw the wolves being brought over, they couldn't help taking a step back. After all, these were fierce wolves as far as they could tell and they were just normal workers.
It wasn't as if they would be able to do anything if these wolves were to jump them.
But that wasn't the case.
The wolves just stayed around Leaf as if they were observing the workers.
Leaf waved for me to come over before saying, "Give them a few orders."
She was pointing at the workers when she said this.
I couldn't help raising a brow when I heard this, but I followed what she told me to do and told the workers to walk around a bit even though they were confused about what was happening. But it wasn't as if I could tell them since I had no idea what was happening either.
When they stopped, Leaf pointed at the workers and said a few things to the wolves.
After she finished speaking, the wolves made their way towards the workers who wanted to move away. However, they stopped when Leaf said, "Just let them get close to you and take a sniff."
After seeing that I agreed with her, they remained there and let the wolves do what they wanted. It was just that the looks on their faces showed that they clearly weren't happy about this.
The wolves didn't do anything in the end as they just sniffed them a bit before moving in to nuzzle with them.
The workers were completely caught off guard seeing this and were at a loss as to what to do.
In the end, Leaf said, "Just pet them back and bond with them."
So the workers slowly started to open up to the wolves like this.
Seeing that this bond was being built, it didn't seem like I needed to be here any longer.
I moved back over to where Leaf was standing and couldn't help asking, "What did you do?"
Leaf just watched over them as she said, "I didn't do anything. I just showed them that they were all part of the same pack."
"Pack?" I couldn't help asking in a confused voice.
With a nod, Leaf explained, "Since you've conquered the wolves, that means that they are your pack now. At the same time, you were already the chief of the town which would make you the leader of the pack for the humans."
I couldn't help looking at Leaf with a strange look when I heard this, but she acted like she didn't see anything as she continued saying, "By showing them this, they understood that they are one big pack with these humans. For wolves, packs means everything and they will take care of those that are in the same pack as them. That's why they were willing to accept these humans even though they were weaker. It's all because you've subdued them."
The strange look on my face became even more strange, but I chose not to say anything in the end.
After all, I was certain that the people of the town certainly wouldn't have been happy to know that they were being treated as a pack of wolves by Leaf.
Still, this was a good way of bringing the humans and the wolves together.
As long as we had a few training sessions, it would even be possible to train a few wolf riders or wolf tamers.
The possibilities were endless with this pack of wolves under us.
