Chapter 332: A bit of lore

"Whoa? What is this?" Kai felt powerful. No, not just powerful, he felt superior, superior to everyone, superior to everything.

"Congrats, little brother, you’ve ascended into godhood." Aion smiled. He didn’t expect Kai to become a demigod during this battle, but this worked in his favor.

Kai frowned. "Tell me just this one thing. Why are you trying to kill me, or any of Leo’s children?"

Aion pointed at Kai’s chest. "Your essence. Every child of Nemean carries a small portion of his progenitor’s essence inside them. When you die, that essence gets transferred back to him. However..."

"Let me guess, you have a way to extract and absorb the essences." There was no way Aion would just kill Kai or any of their siblings just because. So Kai assumed there would be another reason why.

"Heh, I guess that was pretty obvious, huh? But yeah, I can absorb essences. When our father killed our siblings, at least the ones who sided with me, he took their essences, but when it came to me, he didn’t wish to absorb me, so he created progenitor decay to destroy that part of himself in me."

"But you ended up absorbing that power instead." Kai followed along.

"Good job, you’re smarter than you look, little brother. That’s right, I absorbed that energy, making it my own. And with that power, I killed my siblings who didn’t side with me and stole the essences. But before I could do anything with it, dear old dad locked me away."

"So how are you here?"

"Perks of being the child of a progenitor and promordial, we can extend our consciousness into other beings, such as this body. Too bad it’s only a titan and doesn’t have the strength to handle my full power, but killing gods is enough to heal this body from breaking apart."

’So Leo didn’t kill all of his children, but only the ones who sided with Aion. Hmmm.’

"You know that I can contact Leo any time I want, right? Even our mother, Cassie." Kai was bluffing since he had been trying to call them earlier, but he hoped the bluff would work.

Narwhal chuckled, tapping Aion on the shoulder while pointing at Kai with his thumb. "Get a load of this guy."

"I know you’re bluffing." Aion smiled

"How so?"

"I have this." Aion pulled out some sort of necklace from Kai’s perspective. But to Aion, it was the Lion Locket.

"A necklace?"

"Not just any necklace, but the Lion Locket. Forged by our father. It prevents him from seeing the places where this item is."

Kai called bullshit on that. How can someone who’s all-seeing be prevented from seeing?

"That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard." But since Leo wasn’t answering his calls, it seemed the locket was working.

"Maybe, but it’s the truth."

Kai sighed and nodded, understanding that he was alone in this situation. "Well, I just have one thing to say." He pointed at the sky. "Look up."

Aion and Narwhal looked up at the sky, expecting something to attack them. Instead, all they saw was the blue sky devoid of clouds because of their battle.

Before they could react, Kai tackled both of them, his clone attacking Aion.

"Stupid bitch!" He clobbered Narwhal in the face, the force from his attack creating earthquakes. "Falling for the oldest tricks in the book!"

"If you think a clone can stop me, then think again!" Narwhal skidded on the water, then launched himself back up at Kai.

"Oh, I’m not a clone." Kai caught his punch, twisting Narwhal’s arm and breaking his wrist. "I’m the real fucking deal!"

With destruction laced on his hand, he struck the Titan in the chest with his palm, breaking his sternum.

"Argh!! I-I fucking felt that!" Narwhal, even while being punched away, attacked Kai. He shot a blast of fire that looked like mana, but it was Source Energy.

Kai looked at the flame and could see how it was created. He could see that the energy wasn’t mana, but something else. His demigod brain automatically told him what it was.

"Source Energy." He muttered to himself. Kai felt the air, feeling the complexities that created the world. He could feel the primal energies that the planet was made up of, and he understood it to some degree.

"So, what if I do this?" Kai kept it simple, using his favorite element, lightning. He attacked Narwhal with it, but instead of a powerful lightning strike, he literally tore the atmosphere away from the planet as his lightning bolt struck Narwhal with such power that the ocean lost a good chunk of its water, lowering the sea levels.

"What the fuck!" Thinking quickly, Kai used time powers to reverse the ripping of the atmosphere and the lowering of the sea levels.

"That was fucking crazy!"

"Arghhhhhhh!" Narwhal screamed in pain as the lightning strike burned through his body. He was a titan, but his body wasn’t healing from Kai’s attack. He tried to use healing energy on himself, but it didn’t work.

"Narwhal! Careful! He may be a demigod, but he’s a demigod with progenitor energy inside him. His powers are stronger than normal!"

Aion was also having difficulties handling Kai’s clone. Though he was a primordial, he was currently in the body of a Titan. Kai wasn’t stronger than he was, but his attacks caused more harm than they did previously.

’Even though I’m a demigod now, I’m still not stronger than them, but I’m able to actually hurt them now. However, this shouldn’t be my priority. If we continue fighting, the world could be destroyed, and that’s not something I want, so I need that locket.’

Kai created two more clones, having them handle Narwhal as he flew to Aion. He didn’t plan on killing him, and he didn’t know if he could, but as long as he got the locket, he would be able to call his father.

"Hey, big bro! I got a present for you!"

Aion looked toward the Kai coming his way and saw a huge hammer of ice that crashed into his body, shattering on impact. Then, the shattered pieces turned into icecles and rained down on Aion.
