Chapter 456: 452, I’m not interested in your family affairs.

Olivia Zane was hospitalized again, something Nathan Moore hadn’t anticipated. After leaving a few instructions over the phone to Titus Zane, he hurried back to T City.

In the office, Titus Zane stood in front of his desk, Wesley Foley’s normally gentle face as if covered with frost.

His gaze hung down, landing on the desk without a word.

Sensing the low pressure emanating from Wesley, Titus Zane pursed his lips, cautiously opening his mouth.

"Director Foley, if there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave first."

Having said that, he turned to leave, but Wesley lifted his head, casting a cold glance his way.

"Titus Zane, do you think I’m easy to deceive?" If he remembered correctly, that was the name printed on the notebook.

Being addressed by his full name by Wesley, Titus Zane was startled. When he applied for the job at the company, his resume and ID were both arranged by Sister Hua in America.

Now, Wesley knew his original name. Could it be... Had he also secretly conducted an investigation and discovered his identity?

As he was feeling anxious, Wesley suddenly let out a scoff, "Teaming up with Director Moore to play me, is it fun? Do you think I’m a fool, happily being toyed with by you and your spouse? Titus Zane, do you feel a sense of achievement?"

"Director Foley, I..."

Titus Zane was confused, not understanding why Wesley would say such things. He wanted to explain, but he didn’t know how to.

Besides, Wesley didn’t want to hear his explanation. He had just started to say ’I’ when Wesley cut him off with self-ridicule and said,

"Enough, no need to explain. I’m not interested in your family affairs."

Titus Zane...

Even more puzzled, then he heard Wesley say, "Aren’t you planning to resign? I approve."

After speaking, he threw the pen in his hand onto the desk, "Go to finance to get your paycheck."

Titus Zane...

Was he being fired?

It all seemed very absurd. What had set Wesley off this early morning, incessantly calling them a couple? He had always been single; where did the idea of a spouse come from?

Seeing Titus Zane still standing there, Wesley looked up again, "What, are you waiting for me to escort you there?"

Titus Zane...

Lowering his eyes, he spoke faintly, "There’s no need, Director Foley. Thank you for putting up with me all this time."

"It was no bother; it was my choice," Wesley took a deep breath, clearly hit hard by Nathan Moore.

Titus Zane always had a complicated feeling towards Wesley, perhaps due to a lack of warmth, having never been cared for. Before leaving, he hesitated but still reminded him,

"Director Foley, in the future, you can’t judge people just by appearances. Like with me, am I a disappointment to you?"

Titus Zane felt he had been kind to Wesley. There were many opportunities to steal data that he could have easily taken, but he never did. And now, he even bothers to remind him, which would drive Sister Hua and Linda mad if they found out.

"Yes, I’ve taken note," Wesley nodded, but as Titus Zane turned to leave, he added, "Thank you for the joy you’ve brought me."

Titus Zane paused, turned around, and with his lips parting, unwittingly exuded allure, "I also thank you for looking after me. I am sorry for disappointing you."

Wesley’s feelings for him, Titus Zane had always understood, were equal and respectful, not overbearing or forceful. Like a gentle stream, subtly moisturizing over time.

Because he understood Wesley’s feelings for him, Titus Zane said he was sorry for disappointing him. Matters of the heart can never be compelled. He had once tried to accept them, but he found that he was sensitive to all men except that one man.
