Chapter 414: 410, Glib and smooth-talking
Facing Alder Locke’s profile, Titus Zane’s eyes slightly narrowed, her face barely hiding her wariness, "How do you know my surname?"
If she remembered correctly, they had only met once that day at the nightclub, and they didn’t even talk; how could he know her surname? Did he, like her, hire a private detective?
Alder Locke’s handsome eyebrows lifted proudly, "If this young master wants to investigate someone’s background, just one word is enough. Within a week, I can uncover even the three generations of her ancestors."
"Does your family work at the police station?" Titus Zane asked skeptically; if that were the case, she needed to keep even more distance from this man. If her "profession" were found out, it would be difficult to extricate herself later.
"Darling, can’t you think a bit broader?" Alder Locke chuckled, furrowing his brows, a police station? She really had some imagination; how capable could a mere cop be?
Titus Zane felt annoyed by the unprovoked mockery, but more so because the other party knew everything about her "ancestors," turning her head to look ahead, her delicate face was extremely cold.
"Sorry, all women are the same; long hair, short sight."
"Darling, why are you so modest?" Titus Zane’s defiant words provoked laughter from Alder Locke, who looked ahead but his brow was furrowed.
She had to admit, despite his seemingly wicked and frivolous demeanor, upon closer look, he was actually quite attractive.
With a full forehead, sword-like eyebrows, and peach blossom eyes that were quite fierce when not smiling.
Especially that prominent nose bridge, which looked very three-dimensional from the side, like a war general from ancient times, subtly exuding a sense of authority.
"Don’t use that disgusting nickname on me, I don’t like it." Titus Zane’s voice was even colder, having never been called this before, besides, they weren’t very close.
"Darling, how could it be disgusting?" Alder Locke’s brows furrowed tighter, turning to glance at her again with a bemused expression, "So many women vie to be this young master’s ’Darling’, unfortunately,"
Alder Locke turned back to focus on driving, "this young master’s standards are too high, they simply can’t catch my eye."
Titus Zane sneered silently, no longer engaging, but listening as Alder Locke continued.
"So far, only you have caught this young master’s eye, that in itself is also your honor."
"Sorry, I don’t see it that way." Titus Zane snubbed bluntly; Alder Locke seemed indifferent to the direct disdain, instead he managed a wry smile.
"You woman, truly one of a kind, seems my eyesight isn’t bad."
"Can I give you a suggestion?" Titus Zane turned around again, her delicate face had gone from icy cold to visibly displeased."
"Please speak." Alder Locke raised his eyebrows, speaking to Titus Zane very patiently, while she, looking at him indifferently, her slightly raised lips clearly showing contempt.
"Can you not call yourself ’young master’ in front of me? I’m not your subordinate, nor your household servant, I don’t like this title."
"Nosy." Alder Locke muttered irritably through clenched teeth, but immediately responded with a smile, "OK, beauty’s request, I naturally oblige."
"Smooth talker." Titus Zane scoffed disdainfully, and just after her words fell, Alder Locke turned back towards her again, his lifted eyebrows very devilish.
"If I remember correctly, we haven’t kissed yet."
Titus Zane frowned in confusion, just to hear Alder Locke continue, "So, whether my lips are oily, whether my tongue is slick, you haven’t tasted them yet, so don’t jump to conclusions so soon."
