Chapter 354: Chapter 354.Rules
Arrie, Micheal, Charles and the others had gathered together in Kailen’s villa in the virtual universe to watch the society wars.
In the real world, each one of them had currently started implementing the plans they had discussed together with Kailen.
Arrie, for instance, was currently in a spaceship in the real world headed for the Tian Xu Empire Academy.
Charles was headed towards the Phantom Organisation, Micheal was headed towards the Cornelia Empire Academy.
Simply put, everyone was not idle and had started doing everything to move their plans into fruition.
However, they had gathered here in the virtual universe to watch the society wars.
"Show them what you are made of, Kai."
Arrie muttered softly.
The Astral Empire Academy was extremely lively at the moment.
Students and staff members from all across the academy galaxy had their eyes glued to their holographic screens.
One would ask why they were not in a stadium or something of that sort.
That was because society wars did not happen in stadiums or arenas — they happened in dangerous regions of the academy, with high stakes, the rules changing with each society war.
This made the society wars all the more tense... and unpredictable.
Currently, the participating societies, alongside their presidents, stood before different teleportation gates — all headed towards different regions of the same place.
They had not been told anything, only directed by the academy to enter the teleportation gates.
The moment they went through the teleportation gates, they found themselves in a completely different region.
The members of the Sword Tribunal Society, alongside Kailen, appeared in a barren wasteland teeming with calm eeriness.
"Where the hell are we?" Miranda couldn’t help but muse to herself.
The others couldn’t help but think the same thing.
Just then, a voice resounded throughout the whole region — not only to them, but to everyone participating in the society wars — accompanied by glowing texts that appeared before the participants.
"Welcome to the society wars."
You are currently in a secret realm created by a universe-level powerhouse and alumni of the academy — Rank 9 Runesmith, Alita — specifically for the society wars.
The rules are simple.
The society wars will last exactly 14 days.
When the realm collapses, everyone inside gets transported out of the realm.
Credits can be obtained through the following ways:
Killing member(s) of another society.
(The stronger the person you kill, the higher the credits you obtain. Death is death. This is not a game. If you die, you die.)
Killing creatures spawned in the realm.
(The stronger the creature you kill, the higher the credits you obtain.)
You automatically earn the credits of member(s) of another society you kill, if they have any, in addition to the credits you automatically get for killing them.
Note: Spawned creatures in the secret realm and opponents from other societies are not the only dangers lurking within.
Note: During the society wars, till the end, the individual kill counts of each surviving member of a society will be totaled and used to rank them against the other societies.
Also, individual rankings will be shown throughout the society wars.
"Good luck."
The participants from all across the secret realm stared at their holographic screens with complicated expressions.
They had gone through the videos of previous society wars... but experiencing it was something different.
If they died, they died.
Also, this time, they had been thrown into a secret realm with an unknown terrain and ecosystem — not even one of the daunting regions of the academy.
They felt like strangers in a foreign land.
Meanwhile, these same texts, alongside the voice that spoke, also appeared on the screens of the spectators — to let them know the nature of the society wars and what the participants would be up against.
"Interesting. The stakes are extremely high."
"Things are getting more interesting."
"It seems we are up for an entertaining fourteen days."
"Do you think the rumors of the other societies planning on ganging up on the Sword Tribunal Society are true?"
"Honestly, it’s highly likely. Kailen Darkhaven is extremely monstrous. I’m not sure as to why they want to gang up on him, but I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that they suspect he killed Vesper Locke . Although it’s an absurd conjecture, I’m sure they don’t want to take any chances."
"Right. Also, considering his meteoric rise, it’s only a matter of time before he becomes too powerful for them to handle. So they probably want to take advantage of the society wars to get rid of him."
Various conversations broke out all over the empire concerning the society wars.
As for the participants, they were currently going over the rules.
"Let’s digest the rules well to find out how to take advantage of them and use them according to the plan we came up with."
Since Kailen didn’t want to handle everything during the society wars — and wanted to use it as a whetstone to hone the society members, especially the leaders — he turned towards Everlong.
He intended to use her analytical abilities very well.
"What do you think, Everlong?"
Everyone turned to look at her when Kailen asked the question.
Everlong didn’t hesitate. With resolute calmness, she answered,
"First of all, the rules mean that most alliances will be fragile. The fact that killing members of other societies can not only help you earn credits, but also earn the credits they had accumulated before you kill them, is too tempting for others to ignore.
Even if the other societies ally to attempt to get rid of us, they will turn on one another after that."
"Also," she continued under the understanding gazes of the other society members,
"The rules hinted that creatures spawned in the secret realm and opponents from other societies are not the only threat in the society wars. This means that there are far more deadlier threats — or comparably equal ones — in the secret realm."
"The next thing to note is that the societies appeared at random spots in the secret realm. So, it will most likely take a while before the leaders of the other societies can gather and attempt to get rid of us."
