Others managed to fight off the virus with their body’s immune system and overcame it, but remained normal.
However, the majority still turned into zombies. So, just like what every remaining survivor is doing now, they started to fight zombies.
Civilization crumbled, but with the help of the high technology and advanced medical care, more people would have survived.
Unfortunately, humans have a very simple but deadly characteristic; self-preservation.
Even though people formed teams to fight, everyone still wanted to have a better life.
That was how when the aliens saw that even though they had not managed to kill all humans, they had weakened them, they invaded earth.
You have seen that those monsters were naturally stronger than humans, and they were also very intelligent.
That was why when they saw that the humans were still fighting despite being outnumbered and outgunned, they chose to offer a few powers and resources beyond human imagination.
