Chapter 10 The Third Method to Resist Legilimency

"I want to go back."
Aileen lowered her eyes, avoiding Dumbledore's gaze, looking at the ends of Dumbledore's long silver beard, and said softly.
If Aileen had to choose one person in the wizarding world she least wanted to meet, it would undoubtedly be the famous Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Albus Dumbledore.
Not only because of his extraordinary magical abilities, but more importantly, Dumbledore is a master of Legilimency—in other words, a mind reader like Professor Charles in *X-Men*.
Unlike other wizards who need to rely on spells and wands, masters of Legilimency like Voldemort and Dumbledore do not need to chant spells when performing Legilimency. Simply making eye contact can easily complete the reading of thoughts. Therefore, they can always accurately determine when someone is lying to them.
From the original book, there are no legal restrictions on the use of Legilimency, because Snape used Legilimency without hesitation when teaching Harry, and Dumbledore did the same when asking others in emergencies. Obviously, Aileen did not think that Dumbledore would be so courteous as not to peek into her brain.
You know, as a transmigrator, Aileen has too many secrets that cannot be known. From the moment she woke up in the Gryffindor common room, Aileen had been thinking about how to get through this.
"You seem very afraid of me?"
Dumbledore's eyes swept over the girl's slightly trembling shoulders, and he shrugged helplessly, saying gently, "Am I so ugly? You know, I always thought I was quite popular with children."
He became more and more curious about the silver-haired girl in front of him. Both the wonderful piano piece that seemed to carry magic, and her understanding of the entire wizarding world, seemed so unique.
"It's not fear, just a simple dislike of impolite Legilimency."
Aileen took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, raised her head, and looked directly into Dumbledore's eyes with unwavering lake-blue eyes. Now that she had reached this point, it was obviously meaningless to simply escape, so it was better to try to confront him head-on.
"I don't think there's any need to continue talking to a robber who breaks into other people's brains."
Generally speaking, in the minds of wizards, there are only two ways to resist Legilimency.
The first method is to try to avoid eye contact, distance oneself from the caster, and reduce the success rate of Legilimency.
But Aileen believes that this method may not be so effective for a Legilimency master as powerful as Dumbledore.
The other is like Professor Severus Snape, learning Occlumency, closing the mind to resist magical intrusion and influence, and even allowing the mind to lie while avoiding self-exposure.
It is equivalent to a directional defense spell for Legilimency, but this is also unrealistic for Aileen.
However, in fact, in Aileen's view, wanting to hide one's thoughts does not mean that one must drive the other person out of one's brain. There is actually a third way to resist.
That is, to use rigorous scientific knowledge to fight against mysterious magical power.
Aileen tried to empty her mind and began to recall a complex manifold analysis mapping she had learned in college: the Lie group E8, one of the most complex mathematical structures in the world, completed by 18 world-class mathematicians with their unremitting efforts over four years.
This was also the only thing she could think of during this day's Hogwarts tour that might resist Dumbledore's Legilimency—allowing thoughts to be known but not understood.
Lie groups were invented by the Norwegian mathematician Sophus Lie in the 19th century when studying multidimensional symmetry. E8 was proposed in 1887, and even now, not many people can understand its structure.
It is used to explain the phenomenon that symmetrical objects can be moved freely while maintaining their shape. E8 explains the symmetry of 57-dimensional objects, one reason being that only advanced mathematicians will know that E8 itself has 248 dimensions.
The reason for choosing Lie group E8 is because many scientific projects need to process large amounts of data, but the calculation of E8 is an exception: the amount of data required for input is very small, but the answer obtained is huge and very dense.
In other words, Aileen only needs to recall the basic mathematical derivative formulas in her mind. If Dumbledore wants to try to interpret them, he needs to complete the entire derivation based on the formulas.
To give a simple example, it's like when Einstein explained the theory of relativity, everyone could understand his language, but they couldn't understand the meaning expressed in his language.
However, Aileen went a step further on this basis, burying a small pit, that is, as long as you try to start deducing and understanding [Lie group E8], you will inevitably fall into a terrible workload of dozens of times the human genome project. If the data generated by the entire calculation process is listed on paper, the area of paper required can cover the entire Manhattan.
You know, the human genome project requires ten billion bytes of disk storage space, while E8 requires 60 billion bytes.
Even if the four founders of Hogwarts were resurrected, it would not be possible to complete the understanding process directly on the basis of zero-based higher mathematics.
"A brilliant and ingenious idea, is this the power of the non-magical world?"
The old man's blue eyes behind his half-moon spectacles met Aileen's for a second or two, then he took the initiative to look away, rubbed his brow slightly tiredly, and let out a sigh of emotion.
The spiritual world of a Veela hybrid is more sensitive than that of ordinary little wizards. Coupled with that rigorous and orderly mathematical model that exists like a precise art, Dumbledore only tried to interpret it for a second or two before feeling his brain start to ache faintly.
More importantly, after this simple glance, Dumbledore finally intuitively realized the terrible growth of the non-magical world that Aileen had mentioned before—the research and exploration of the origin of the world no longer belonged solely to the realm of wizards.
Dumbledore composed himself, collected his thoughts, and solemnly re-examined Aileen standing next to the piano.
The silver-haired little loli's tender face looked particularly nervous, her doe-like lake-blue moist eyes were filled with hostility, and her petite body was unconsciously shaking slightly, obviously she was not as strong as she expressed in her words in an unfamiliar environment.
How afraid of the wizarding world is this child...?
Dumbledore shook his head, and under Aileen's watchful gaze, slowly walked to the girl, squatted down to make their sight lines parallel, carefully stretched out his hand, touched the girl's silver shimmering hair, and said sincerely.
"I'm sorry, please forgive an old fellow's confusion."
Dumbledore's gaze was gentle and sincere, no longer with the sharp eyes he had before, looking like an old grandfather who had inadvertently angered his little granddaughter, full of guilt and pity.
"I guarantee to you in my capacity as Headmaster of Hogwarts that I will never use Legilimency on you again."
"..."
Aileen bit her lip, her expression slightly eased, and did not speak.
For this great wizard who runs through the entire Harry Potter film series, it is difficult for anyone to feel animosity towards him. Since Dumbledore made a promise in the name of Hogwarts, he will naturally not break his promise again.
Seeing the girl's eyes soften slightly, Dumbledore smiled slightly, flicked his wand gently, and conjured a cup of ice cream balls emitting a chill as if by magic.
"As an apology, would you like to try this lemon sherbet made by the Hogwarts kitchen? As far as I know, it should be a very popular dessert in your world. I like it very much too."
Dumbledore winked nimbly at the silver-haired little loli and handed the tableware forward.
"Hmph, I'm not a three-year-old child!"
Aileen looked at Dumbledore's expression as if he were coaxing a child, glanced at the ice cream balls that looked delicious, puffed out her cheeks a little angrily, and couldn't help but said.
After so casually peeking into a girl's mind, trying to coax her with a little dessert is impossible!
Noticing the silver-haired little loli's eyes, the smile in Dumbledore's eyes grew a little stronger, gently took Aileen's hand, placed the porcelain cup containing the lemon sherbet on it, and said gently.
"So, can you spare a little more time now to listen to an old man's ramblings?"
Aileen hesitated for a few seconds, then stuck out her little tongue and licked the cold lemon ice cream, feeling a cool and sweet taste bloom from the tip of her tongue.
"...Um. Go ahead." The silver-haired little loli narrowed her eyes happily, saying with a small spoon in her mouth.
