Chapter 828: Celebi Has Fallen Out Of Favor

This year’s Hundred Schools League final was between Imperial University and its old rival, Shu University. In terms of support rate, over 70% of people believed Imperial University would win.

After all, Imperial University had already won the Hundred Schools League five times in a row. Based on that alone, it was natural their support rate was higher than Shu’s.

Moreover, thanks to Julian, the prodigy from Imperial University, the university had gained the best promotional brochure for attracting new students.

After all, which talented trainer could resist the temptation of becoming the junior of a Champion?

So, some netizens even joked online that Shu University specialized in accepting students who failed to get into Imperial University.

Since many students qualified to apply for Imperial University would only choose Shu if they got screened out.

As a result, Imperial University’s admission scores had been rising higher each year, yet the number of applicants continued to grow. With Julian becoming Champion this year, the number of applicants to Imperial University next year was sure to break historical records.

Today was the final between the two universities, and Julian was seating directly in the coaching area of Imperial University, right beside Wade.

The two chatted from time to time. Despite Julian being a Champion, Wade could still serve as his teacher when it came to raising Dragon-type Pokémon.

To seek Wade’s guidance, Julian directly released all his Dragon-type Pokémon.

Dragonite, Shelgon, Garchomp, and Duraludon—these were his four Dragon-types. Julian had always been rather particular about catching Pokémon.

If he had wanted more Dragons, not to mention Cyan-grade ones, with his current status, even Blue-grade ones would’ve been easy to acquire.

But he simply didn’t feel like it. He already had more than enough Pokémon.

Of course, compared to most trainers, Julian actually had very few Pokémon, which was also related to his philosophy of focusing on quality over quantity.

His father and grandfather were the same—they hadn’t caught many either. The Walker family trainers had always gone for the elite route.

Wade was quite familiar with Dragonite and Garchomp—one was Julian’s main fighter, while the other was the core of his second team.

But Wade was seeing Duraludon and Shelgon for the first time.

Due to Duraludon’s Steel and Dragon typing, and the close relationship between the Walkers and Drakes, the Walker family had gifted over a dozen Duraludon to the Drakes—including two with Cyan-grade potential.

Currently, the only families in the world that had access to Duraludon were the Walkers and the Drakes.

"This Shelgon of yours is clearly overweight. Although it’s very well raised, its excessive weight will become a burden in battle," Wade remarked, feeling somewhat speechless as he touched Shelgon’s chin, which clearly had a high body fat percentage.

This Shelgon was indeed excellently raised—just a little on the chunky side.

It was clear at a glance that it didn’t get much exercise or battle experience.

However, this minor flaw didn’t overshadow its overall excellence. All in all, this Shelgon was quite impressive—even Wade himself couldn’t have raised one better.

A high body-fat ratio wasn’t really a problem. With a bit more training or by eating less, it would slim down quickly.

As Wade stroked its chin, Shelgon not only didn’t resist but actually looked quite comfortable.

But the moment it heard Wade suggesting Julian put it on a diet, its squinted eyes snapped wide open, and it even flung Wade’s hand away.

It glared at Wade in displeasure. It had thought he was a good person—yet this so-called "good person" had just told it to go on a diet.

How could that be a good person? Clearly, he was a villain.

It ate so much only to build strength and help its trainer—that was exactly what Big Brother Steelix had told it.

Just look at big brother Steelix—lazy and indulgent most of the time, yet still incredibly strong. The reason? It ate a lot.

Seeing Shelgon bare its teeth at him, Wade couldn’t help but chuckle. "You’ve got quite the temper, huh. I’m only saying this for your own good. You wouldn’t want to evolve into Salamence and be too fat to fly, would you?"

Shelgon: "Really?"

"Of course, it’s true."

Wade possessed the ability Dragon's Heart

, allowing him to understand the speech of Dragon-type Pokémon.

Watching Shelgon being swayed by Wade’s persuasion, Julian didn’t interrupt—after all, more exercise certainly wasn’t a bad thing.

He had indeed been somewhat negligent in raising Shelgon, as most of his focus was on his main team Pokémon.

When Shelgon evolves into Salamence and enters the second team, Julian’s attention toward it would naturally increase.

Though it may seem unfair, when you had so many Pokémon, it was genuinely hard to divide attention equally.

Thanks to Julian’s presence, the atmosphere at the venue grew even more lively.

Even the cameras, which should have been focused on the battlefield, frequently panned toward Julian—naturally capturing his Dragon-type Pokémon and Wade in the frame.

Seeing that Julian, already a Champion, still humbly seeking Wade’s advice made many people sigh in admiration.

Julian’s fanbase grew even larger because of this.

Of course, with praise came criticism—some people claimed that Julian was just putting on a show.

But as the cameras zoomed in, the little Pokémon perched on Julian’s head was also revealed to the public. Jirachi even waved at the camera.

Its adorable appearance instantly won over many people.

Their first reaction was that this must be another newly discovered Pokémon.

Their second reaction was that Celebi had fallen out of favor.

After all, it used to be Celebi perched on Julian’s head, but now it had been replaced by an unfamiliar Pokémon, and Celebi was nowhere to be seen.

Celebi, meanwhile, was at home happily eating ice cream and watching TV.

As for falling out of favor or anything like that, it wasn’t worried at all—Jirachi was its own little brother.

As long as that manipulative bit*h (Mew) didn’t show up, it would never lose its place.

Now that it had its little bro Jirachi, if that thing ever dared to come over, it would team up with Jirachi to take it down and show it who was really in charge.

Ding!

Julian’s phone chimed.

He looked down and saw that Nicole had sent him a message.

Nicole: "Who’s the girl next to you?"

Julian smiled faintly. How unusual—instead of asking about Jirachi first, Nicole was inquiring about Haley.

Clearly, Nicole was also watching the live stream and had spotted Julian, along with the young girl sitting beside him.

Julian: "She’s the daughter of my mom’s best friend. I treat her as a little sister."

Just then, Haley leaned over to peek at the message, pouted, and asked, "Brother Julian, is she your girlfriend?"

"Mm," Julian nodded. He had never denied that.

"Aunt Tina mentioned that your girlfriend is two years older than you."

"While older girls might be more caring, I think it’s better to find someone younger—the younger, the more exciting."

Julian tapped her forehead lightly and said with mild exasperation, "The younger, the more exciting? Are you trying to make me commit a crime?"
