Chapter 825: Stone

"What wishes have you granted for others before?"

Seeing that Jirachi had rejected every single wish he had thought of so far, Julian was feeling incredibly frustrated. So, he decided to ask what previous people had wished for. That way, he could learn from their experiences.

"Let me think," Jirachi said, looking thoughtful.

Julian wasn’t in a hurry—after all, this was something from a thousand years ago, so of course Jirachi needed time to recall.

"Oh, I remember! The last wish was from someone who hoped their ex would suffer misfortune again and again."

Julian: ⊙▃⊙

"The one before that was for them to find someone who would love them."

Julian: (?`w?)

"And the one before that was to get their ex-girlfriend back."

Julian: |ω?`)

"And then the one before that—"

Before Jirachi finished speaking, Julian, whose face was full of black lines, hurriedly stopped it.

"Enough, enough, I don’t want to hear it anymore."

Julian waved his hand, looking deeply uncomfortable. His expression had shifted from confusion to exasperation and now to the urge to bang his head against the wall. If it weren’t for Jirachi’s utterly serious demeanor, Julian would have suspected it was messing with him.

Were people in those earlier eras sentenced to death if they didn’t have a girlfriend?

Jirachi was supposed to be the Wish-Granting God, but anyone listening would think it was the Matchmaker God or Cupid.

All these wishes about love and relationships were downright nauseating. Those three probably had something wrong with their brains—their ambitions were as small as a pinky finger.

Julian felt a headache coming on. He had hoped to gain some inspiration, but instead, he nearly ended up sabotaging himself.

Jirachi clearly had no idea how much its words had affected Julian, leaving him completely disheartened.

"So, Julian, what wish do you want to make?" Jirachi asked with great anticipation.

Julian was its friend, and of course, it wanted to help him fulfill his wish.

"Although I can’t make you immortal, I can extend your lifespan by two thousand years. That way, we can meet two more times!"

It woke up once every thousand years, so two thousand years would indeed allow them to see each other twice.

"Then, after you wake up again, can I wish for another two thousand years of life?"

Julian felt like he had found a BUG. If it worked, he could essentially exploit a loophole—achieving a form of immortality. The only uncertainty was whether he could find the meteorite where Jirachi slumbered a thousand years later.

"No, that won’t work. The maximum lifespan for humans is two thousand years," Jirachi replied.

Sure enough, his clever trick wasn’t going to work.

Julian let out a slight sigh, but after thinking about it—living for two thousand years wasn’t so bad.

If he could live that long, how would it compare to the lifespans of his Pokémon? Well, honestly, he probably still wouldn’t outlive any of them.

Besides, if he truly lived for two thousand years, he couldn’t even imagine how terrifying his Pokémon’s strength would become by then.

But as it stood, his natural lifespan was already around five hundred years, and he had quite a few treasures that could extend it even further. Combined, he could probably live for over a thousand years without much trouble.

So, wishing for two thousand years of life didn’t seem all that cost-effective.

The system shop also had things that extended lifespan—even items of true immortality—though the points required were astronomical.

Compared to those, wishing for two thousand years of life just didn’t feel like a great deal.

"So, Julian, do you want to make this wish?" Jirachi asked.

Just as Julian was about to speak, a thought occurred to him. Curiously, he asked, "If I don’t make a wish, will you be able to stay awake and not fall asleep?"

Jirachi seemed surprised by the question. "If I said yes, would you really give up your wish?"

Julian nodded without hesitation. "Of course."

After all, since he had the system, as long as he had enough points, everything he mentioned earlier was within reach.

It would just take a absurd amount of points—but given his current lifespan, if he completed daily tasks consistently, he could afford at least one of those items before he died.

As a First-class Legendary, Jirachi could sense that Julian’s words were genuine, spoken from the heart.

He was truly willing to give up his wish in exchange for Jirachi remaining awake.

People were usually selfish.

A single Ultimate treasure could turn spouses against each other or break brothers apart.

Not to mention that a wish from Jirachi was worth far more than any Ultimate treasure.

Even though Julian’s earlier wishes couldn’t be fulfilled, Jirachi could still grant him at least three Ultimate treasures.

While it couldn’t turn Metagross’s potential into Rainbow-grade, it could help Pokémon below Champion-tier reach that stage—at least five of them.

But Julian hadn’t asked for any of that.

Julian: 'To be honest, I hadn’t even considered those.'

But as for Ultimate treasures—as long as he had the Dowsing Machine and explored all of Drakoria’s Top-tier secret realms, he was bound to find them.

And raising his Pokémon to Champion-tier? For Julian, that was only a matter of time.

"Forget it, I won’t make a wish," Julian shook his head.

If not making a wish meant Jirachi could stay awake and accompany him, wouldn’t that make him practically invincible?

After all, Jirachi was a First-class Legendary.

"Actually, I was just joking. Even if you don't make a wish, I will still fall asleep," Jirachi said with a strained smile.

It didn’t want to sleep either. A thousand years was a long time—by the time it woke up again, everything would have changed, and Julian would likely be dead.

Julian: 'Who says I’ll necessarily die?'

"Then there’s nothing that can stop you from falling asleep? Even if I don’t make a wish?" Julian frowned.

Every time Jirachi granted someone’s wish, no matter how big or small, it would expend the energy it had accumulated over a millennium. Afterward, it needed to sleep for a thousand years to absorb energy again for the next wish.

But this time, since Julian wasn’t making a wish, the energy inside Jirachi wouldn’t be used up. So why would it still need to sleep?

Seeing how much Julian cared, Jirachi felt deeply moved.

"If there were a 'True Affection Stone', then as long as I don’t overuse my energy, I wouldn’t need to sleep."

"True Affection Stone? What’s that?" Julian asked.

As he spoke, he began searching through the system shop to see if such a stone existed.

"A True Affection Stone is a stone infused with the emotions of both humans and Pokémon. It can only form when a human and a Pokémon die close together, share an extremely deep bond, and the Pokémon was wearing a stone-like accessory."

"Under those conditions, there’s a very small chance that a True Affection Stone will be created."

Just then, Julian found the True Affection Stone in the system shop.
