Chapter 328; Gunfire

Chapter 328: Chapter 328; Gunfire

Inside their van, Tang Fei’s breath hitched. They were still so close, her body pressed to his, her lips swollen from his kiss. The mix of danger and intimacy left her dizzy.

Huo Ting Cheng pulled out his phone, voice like steel as he ordered, "Flank the left. Tighten formation. If anyone breaches ten meters, shoot first, ask later."

Even as he spoke, his thumb brushed along the back of her hand, a subtle reassurance meant only for her.

His eyes flickered back to her briefly, darker than before, not just with lust, but with the feral protectiveness of a man who wouldn’t let anything touch her.

The van crawled forward again, tension humming in the air. Tang Fei tried to steady her breathing, but when his fingers intertwined with hers, firm and unyielding, she realized something terrifying...

The kiss might have been interrupted, but the fire between them hadn’t dimmed. If anything, danger only makes it burn hotter.

Tang Fei’s chest rose and fell rapidly, her heartbeat matching the staccato thud of boots outside. She tried to focus on the danger, but her lips still tingled from his kisses, her body burning from the way he had touched her.

She has never thought she had this kind of fetish! Why was her body misbehaving even more when danger was knocking?

She gazed into the streets through the window and was still seated on his lap, but all she wanted to do was burn with fiery hormones that were going rampant..

She glanced at him, the man beside her no longer just her husband, but the untouchable man everyone feared. His jaw was sharp, cold, and his eyes were narrowed like a predator waiting for the kill. Yet... his hand never left hers.

It wasn’t the first time she had seen his blue eyes darken like that. In that moment of stupor, she stretched her hand and gently caressed his eyebrows, looking into those tense dark eyes. They were so charming, blue, and mesmerizing. She felt like she had been bewitched... Looking at him, now she could tell that her eyesight was terrible when she had fallen madly in love with that Huo Yang.

Her breath suddenly hitched when those eyes gazed into hers intimately; they easily made her stomach flutter with butterflies. Even in the face of danger, he was still claiming her. Even in danger, he exuded some charm only he could. All this was driving her crazy.

"Don’t be scared, nothing would happen..." Huo Ting Cheng murmured suddenly, his thumb brushing circles over her palm without taking his eyes off the window. "I’m right here. Mnnh.."

She blinked, amused by his protectiveness. She wasn’t scared. In her last life, she had cruised through a life of bullets and deaths. She was slightly startled by the warmth buried in his rough voice. Her lips curved faintly, "I’m not scared... not when you’re here. How could I?"

" Ooohhh?" He seductively smirked, making Tang Fei yearn for him even more, "You seem to be enjoying it rather than being worried?" He whispered as he nibbled her ear igniting the already burning fire.

Her body jolted at the playful bite, a gasp slipping past her lips before she could stop it. Heat rushed to her cheeks, her fingers tightening on his suit. "Ting Cheng..." she whispered, half a plea, half a warning, though her body betrayed her words, arching subtly closer to him.

Her voice had turned coyish and endearing; even though they had had an argument earlier on, they had already forgotten all about it.

His low chuckle rumbled against her skin, dark and intoxicating. "Danger excites you, hm?" His lips brushed along her jaw, his voice husky with both amusement and hunger. "Then you really are mine... because only I get to see you like this."

She felt even more embarrassed by his words! Did he have to state it so clearly?

Before she could even respond, the convoy jolted again. A sharp crack rang out and you could hear gunfire in the distance.

Tang Fei slightly trembled "Ting Cheng...."

"Shh." His hand slid to the back of her shoulders, pulling her against his chest tightly. With his other hand, he reached into the side compartment and drew out a sleek black pistol, cocking it with practiced ease.

One hand held her closely to his heart and the other hand held that magical weapon. She suddenly had a flash of memories, these were memories she didn’t know where they came from, and all she could see was blood and Huo Ting Cheng badly hurt.

She slightly shook her head, confused. What were these memories? Where were they from?

Through the tinted glass, shadows moved closer, vehicles inching unnaturally slow, boxing them in.

The radio buzzed again, with communication, "Suspicious car approaching from the rear, tinted windows, no plate numbers, and unidentified! Could be a trap."

Huo Ting Cheng’s lips curved into a cold smile, but his eyes never left the darkened window. "Trap or not... they’ll regret trying to mess with me."

Tang Fei’s throat went dry. She knew this side of him, dangerous, merciless, and absolute, but pressed so close to him, she also knew something else: she was the only one he softened for.

Her hand, almost unconsciously, tightened over his chest. "Then... let me stay here with you."

That single whisper made his gaze snap to her, fire flaring behind the ice. For a moment, the chaos outside didn’t matter. He kissed her forehead swiftly and possessively, "Always."

Then, as the van slowed again and shadows loomed, Huo Ting Cheng shifted her gently behind him, his weapon steady, his entire frame tensed to strike.

But his free hand still found hers, fingers locking tight.

The van lurched again, the grinding sound of metal-on-metal echoing as one suspicious car scraped too close to their flank. Soldiers outside shouted, boots pounding against asphalt as they tried to tighten the defense.

Gunfire cracked again, louder this time. Bullets thudded into the armor plating, rattling through the confined space.
