Qing Emperor

Chapter 505: Visiting the Sick at Midnight!

After leaving Zhongjing Haoting, Jiang Feng headed to the Peninsula Hotel, following the address given by Le Zhengyi.

However, there were only two young models sleeping together in the room, and no trace of Huangfu Shang.

A quick thought was enough for Jiang Feng to realize that Huangfu Shang had surely received news of the Winged Tiger Alliance's downfall in advance, and had made a timely escape!

Given the Huangfu Family's resources and information networks, learning this promptly was not difficult.

But Huangfu Shang thinking he'd be safe by fleeing back to the Provincial City was a big mistake.

He was already on Jiang Feng's blacklist; he merely bought himself some breathing time.

After departing the Peninsula Hotel, it was still dark, with the faintest sliver of dawn just beginning to lighten the horizon, and the city was still enshrouded in darkness.

It's said that the darkest hour is just before dawn, and the current sky perfectly illustrated this truth.

Jiang Feng took a cab to Southern City Hospital.

By this time, even the doctors and nurses on night duty were asleep. The deep night was still and tranquil.

Without alerting anyone, Jiang Feng found Situ Yan's room number from the ward signs along the corridor and headed straight there.

He wasn't entirely at ease with Situ Yan's condition, even though the doctor said it was nothing serious; it seemed best to check on her.

The room Situ Yan was in was a special care room due to her unique status, and Mu Jianmin had personally arranged for her to receive such treatment.

At the door of the ward, Jiang Feng gently turned the lock and entered.

However, the next moment, a sudden fist carrying a waft of fragrant wind was swung straight at his face, causing him to frown momentarily.

Though the room was pitch black and hard to see clearly, Jiang Feng knew, from that familiar scent, that the attacker was Situ Yan!

Instantly, Jiang Feng nonchalantly extended his palm and caught Situ Yan's punch.

"Are you crazy? It's me!"

"Jiang Feng?" Situ Yan exclaimed in surprise from the darkness, then quickly retracted her fist.

"How is it you? Why are you coming to my room so late?" Situ Yan asked in confusion, feeling both startled and a bit annoyed in the aftermath.

She had actually woken up quite a while ago.

No big issues lingered, and after leaving the emergency room, she had been transferred to this ward.

But because of the earlier events, she couldn't find peace and remained in a wariness, utterly on edge.

Just now, although Jiang Feng's footsteps were light in the corridor, Situ Yan's sharp ears caught them.

She thought the assassins had returned, so she prepared in advance and delivered a hard blow just as the person entered!

But to her surprise, it was Jiang Feng!

Hurriedly she flicked on the ward's light and indeed saw Jiang Feng standing before her!

Only, at this moment, Jiang Feng appeared somewhat haggard from a night of weary travel, appearing quite travel-worn.

"What have you been up to? You look like you haven't slept all night?" Situ Yan asked with curiosity about Jiang Feng.

"About right." Jiang Feng's face remained calm.

It wasn't just that he hadn't slept all night; he had been traveling back and forth, doing one thrilling task after another. Looking a bit worn out was normal.

"It seems you're quite alright now? Does your head still hurt?" Jiang Feng asked, looking at Situ Yan.

Situ Yan stood before him not in a hospital gown, but merely wearing casual pajama shorts. Her rounded, tender legs and bare feet were bathed in the light, casting a radiant glow, and her cheeks were flushed, her Qi-Blood full, showing no signs of lingering aftereffects.

"No, it stopped long ago." Situ Yan shook her head. Seeing Jiang Feng's genuine concern, she felt even more moved.

Yesterday felt like a lifetime!

From the morning outbursts to getting into trouble, and then confronting the He Family at the old house, to finally being attacked last night...

The whole day's events were nothing short of a roller coaster ride, fraught with peril!

Fortunately, the outcome was peaceful; danger had turned to safety.

"Jiang Feng, who were those two assassins exactly? Were they sent by the He Family?" Situ Yan seriously inquired, gazing intently at Jiang Feng.

If they really were the He Family's doing to retaliate against Jiang Feng, she would feel guilty and insist on settling scores with the He Family—she'd never let Jiang Feng bear danger for her!

"No, you overthought it," Jiang Feng calmly replied. "Regarding those two assassins, don't ask too much. Their target was me, not you!"

"Besides, I've already taken care of it; there won't be any more trouble. Pretend nothing happened, and rest peacefully."

"Not sent by the He Family?" Situ Yan was momentarily stunned but then felt more overwhelmed!

Although Jiang Feng's words were brief, she could vaguely perceive that he only visited her after thoroughly dealing with those assassin troubles!

Where on earth did he go overnight to simplify things permanently?

This guy's every move was indeed enigmatic!

"I came to see you just to make sure you're alright. Now that I see you're doing well, I can rest assured. You continue resting; I'm heading back," Jiang Feng said to Situ Yan.

"You… you come back!" Situ Yan immediately called as Jiang Feng turned to leave.

"Hmm?" Jiang Feng turned around, looking at her quizzically.

"It's so late, where are you going? Stay here and rest! Do you really have to go home?" Situ Yan asked, glaring at Jiang Feng with dissatisfaction.

"Here?" Jiang Feng frowned at her words.

How to sleep here?

There was only one hospital bed, and neither a sofa nor a companion bed. Where would he sleep?

Seeing Jiang Feng's confusion, Situ Yan blushfully volunteered, "You can sleep on this bed. I've already slept most of the night; I'm quite rested. You get on and sleep, and I'll watch you."

"That doesn't seem right; you're still a patient. You should rest, I'll head back," Jiang Feng promptly declined, turning to leave.

"Jiang Feng, are you afraid to sleep with me, or do you just not want to?" Situ Yan urgently caught up, grabbing Jiang Feng to question him!

This jerk was at it again, pretending to be upright!

He wasn't shy when they bungee-jumped together. He simply had the desire but not the courage!

Tonight, Situ Yan wasn't going to let Jiang Feng leave just like that; she didn't fear any superstition—what's the harm in letting him stay to rest, after all, it's not like they're doing anything—why should he avoid it?!

"Why would I be afraid? You're just still a patient, and I don't want to disturb your rest..." Jiang Feng looked at Situ Yan's insistence and said with a wry smile.

He fears nothing, except for receiving a beauty's affection.

"Enough! If you're not afraid, listen to me and get on the bed!" Situ Yan said, and without waiting for a reply, she dragged Jiang Feng back to the bedside. "It's almost daylight, why are you still wandering? If you don't sleep soon, it'll be morning!"

Jiang Feng felt a headache coming on. What wind had blown, compelling her to make him stay overnight?

If he truly slept on the bed, she wouldn't even have a place to sit—what, would she just watch him sleep?

"You insist? There's only one bed, we can't both fit," Jiang Feng said helplessly, pushed by Situ Yan to sit on the bed.

"Dream on; who said anything about sleeping together?" Situ Yan shot Jiang Feng a sidelong glance, pointing at the bed. "You lie down!"

"I…"

Before Jiang Feng could retort, Situ Yan suddenly gave him a shove onto the bed, then kicked off her slippers and climbed barefoot to the head of the bed herself.

At this, Jiang Feng froze—was she going to pull the same stunt she did at Mai Di and try to get the upper hand?
