Chapter 150: Fabricated Tales!

Chapter 150: Fabricated Tales!

Chapter 149

’Demons? Dragons? What the hell are they yapping about? Why does Max keep calling the leader a demon vessel? And why does the leader keep calling Max a dragon?

Aren’t both of them hybrids? What are they saying? What the fuck is going on that I have no idea about?

And why does the Gray Bulls’ leader have almost the same hybrid form as the previous one? Something feels off. Something feels wrong. I’ve had my suspicions about Max’s hybrid form since the day I brought him to my house.

Could he really be a dragon?’ Kelly thought as countless questions ran through her head. She turned back to fight, but something unexpected happened that made her eyes widen in pure horror. Her hands shot up to cover her mouth as she struggled not to scream.

Max had just been stabbed through the abdomen. The demon vessel’s claws tore straight through him and protruded out the other end.

"Shit," the dragon cursed as the vessel slammed a powerful kick into his stomach, lifting his body and hurling him across the area. His body slid right off the vessel’s claws and crashed violently into the ground.

Damian’s body bounced and tumbled several times, each impact splitting the earth beneath him and leaving deep fissures. When he finally came to a stop, he lay there unmoving.

Though his HP wasn’t yet critical, he was too exhausted to stand. His vision blurred so much that he could barely make out his own hands. Blood poured freely from his abdomen, spilling onto the ground like a broken tap.

"Look at him!" the demon vessel snarled as it blitzed forward, towering over Max’s body. Without hesitation, it crouched down and grabbed his blue hair, yanking his body off the ground and forcing his masked face to look up.

"The so-called dragon," it hissed. "The one who made the demons feel so threatened they needed to break the seal and trickle back into this world.

You were supposed to be humanity’s last line of defense, but look at you now!" The vessel’s voice deepened into a distorted, otherworldly growl, dripping with hatred as its crimson eyes locked on Max.

"Wh... why?" Max managed to croak weakly, glaring at the vessel through half-lidded eyes.

"Huh? Why what?"

"Why, despite knowing what the serum would do to you... despite knowing you would lose your humanity to the very race planning to enslave mankind... why did you still take the serum?" Max asked, his voice low and trembling as he dangled a few inches off the ground.

"I needed and wanted power!" the vessel roared. "For years, I was the vice leader of this gang. When you took out the previous leader, I knew I had to step up my game. So I sought out the same corporation he worked with. They gave me a path to power—an opportunity and I took it.

In a world where hybrids are slowly taking over, why should I be left behind just because I don’t have the money for a serum? That’s why I pooled the gang’s resources and approached them again. They gave me what I wanted. The demonic serum!"

"I see," Max exhaled, his tone cold as his eyes slowly drifted toward the hundred men still standing and watching the fight. "Did you hear that? The one you all trusted to lead your operations... is no longer human. He’s a demon now."

His voice echoed, deep and commanding despite his injuries. "Do you even know what a demon is? Do you all?"

The men exchanged uneasy glances. None of them spoke, but their faces showed pure confusion. Even without understanding every word, they knew one thing for sure—anything involving demons was never good news.

"Demons are a race—beings who want to rule the earth. They come from the underworld and possess strength beyond any human’s imagination. And do you know their source of power? What keeps them going?" Max asked as he was still being gripped tightly by the hair.

"N... no," one of the men stuttered, his voice trembling with fear as he barely managed to speak.

"Humans," Max replied, his words dripping like a cold whisper of death.

’No!’ Kelly thought, her eyes widening in horror at what she was hearing. ’De... demons are real? Does that mean Max is really a dragon?!’

"Demons feast on humans," Max continued, his tone sharp and steady despite the blood pouring from his wound. "That’s how they replenish their strength. And your so-called leader, he’s one of those monsters. He planned to devour every single human in this town."

"Huh? Max, what are you saying? We both know demon vessels can’t devour humans and regain their strength," Pix muttered under her breath, confusion spreading across her face.

’Shut up and watch what I do,’ Max spat inwardly.

"After devouring the townspeople, you all would’ve been his next targets. He would have slaughtered and consumed every single one of you!" Max shouted, his voice echoing through the hall.

"I heard about this plan, and that’s why I came down here—to save you all! That’s why I kept screaming for you idiots to bring your leader to me!"

His voice grew louder, filled with fury and righteous anger. "I was here to help! I was here to save you all! Your savior had arrived, but you were all too blind, too stubborn to see it!"

Then, without warning, Max twisted his body and slammed his fist right into the demon vessel’s face with all his boosted strength. The impact cracked the air like thunder, sending the vessel stumbling backward in visible pain.

"We... we don’t believe you! Our leader is a hybrid, not a demon! No! That’s wrong!" a voice suddenly shouted from the side, and everyone turned.

It was the vice leader, staggering out from the wreckage, blood dripping from his forehead. He’d been injured by Max earlier but was now forcing himself to stand. Around him, several unconscious men began to stir and wake up, clutching their wounds as confusion clouded their eyes.

"You’re a liar!!!" the vice leader screamed, and others joined in, shouting angrily as their voices filled the air with chaos.

"You see? Kek! Foolish dragon," the demon vessel whispered with a wicked grin spreading across its face. Without hesitation, it darted toward Max at full speed, the ground cracking beneath its feet.

"What now? What will you do?" Pix asked, her voice trembling as the tension tightened around her chest.

In a split second, the demon vessel appeared beside Max, swinging its claws in a blur. But Max ducked under the strike and pivoted to its side in one swift motion.

[Skill: Predator’s Authority Activated]

Max’s eyes glowed a fierce, luminous yellow as he locked his gaze onto the vessel’s eyes. The air seemed to ripple around them, and within a second, the vessel’s crimson eyes turned dull and monotone, glowing faintly with the same yellow hue.

[Skill Successful]

’Let’s see how they won’t believe my tale now,’ Max thought, his lips curving into a cold smirk as the tide began to shift.
