Chapter 158: _ Coming For Her
"So, think Heidi’s heading home too?"
Morgan tilts his head, watching the night stretch out before them. The mention of her name sends a slow ripple through his chest. He’s irritated that Grayson dares to mention his Luna as if she is going to graduate from just being "Grayson’s mated" into anything serious.
Newsflash, she won’t because he’s going to kill Grayson before he can become anything more to her.
"What makes you ask?" Morgan asks casually despite his inner murderous thoughts.
Grayson shrugs. "Just wondering if she needs a ride. You know, to make sure she doesn’t get mobbed by those psychos gossiping about her."
Morgan hums, noncommittally. Of course, you’re thinking about her. It’s always the same... every one of them who looks at Heidi ends up under her spell. Not to mention now that she bears their mark. The attraction and obsession will be unparalleled.
He hides the flicker of possessiveness behind a laugh. "Oh, how noble of you. Chivalry’s not dead after all."
"Come on, I’m serious. She’s new, and she just went through the Awakening and the Labyrinth. We both know what went down in that demon-infested dump. Not to mention all the garbage, NAY Boys sisters are throwing at her. I’m just saying we could check on her before heading out."
It’s crazy how they all collectively decided that the claims against Heidi are false. They know how stupid and rotten that friendship group is, and if they are painting a picture of themselves on poor Heidi, the Bellamy boys do not need evidence to know she has no boyfriend, Morgan thinks.
After all, they are the ones who already know her in ways no one else has on this campus. For now, Morgan will allow the polyandry, and when he’s finally come into power, he’ll be the only one knowing shit.
Morgan’s fingers tap idly on his knee. Outwardly, he’s calm. Inside, his thoughts are driving him to the edge. Grayson, sweet fool, has no idea he’s treading into dangerous territory.
"Sure," Morgan says finally with a small smile on his lips. "Let’s check on her."
Grayson glances over, surprised. "Really?"
"Why not? Can’t have our precious mate getting lost in the dark or getting ambushed by those desperate girls, can we?"
Grayson laughs. "Exactly!"
Morgan turns his gaze to the window, watching the academy fade into the shadows as they drive off. The wind howls faintly through the cracked window, carrying the scent of the forest. His reflection stares back at him in the glass; calm eyes, and a composed smile.
But behind that reflection, in the private space of his thoughts, something darker stirs. He imagines it—the look on Grayson’s face when he finally realizes who Morgan really is. What he’s been planning. How every joke, every brotherly smile, every car ride like this one was just a prelude to ruin.
Poor, clueless Grayson.
He has no idea he’s driving beside the brother who will one day slit his throat and smile while doing it. It’s not his fault though. None of them asked for this fate.
Tobias and Rayne who decided to sacrifice Morgan’s mother to enable their own union should be blamed. Not when they were the ones who gave her their world and made her relaxed about being the Alpha’s secret mistress while Rayne is presented to the Pack council as the mate.
And that corrupt Pack council who thinks they’re righteous just because they refused a rogue Luna—a motion that subsequently made Tobias decide he can manage to fight for one rogue to be his mate against all objections, but not two.
Hence, the sacrifice and betrayal of poor Alyssa—his dear mother who never got to meet her son. The more Morgan thinks about it, the more work he realizes he’s yet to do.
However, patience is a virtue he’s willing to submit to. With time, all shall be aligned and he’ll claim his rightful place. Should he one day finally find his mother even though Tobias and Rayne already assumed she was dead, she will finally come into glory.
Their glory as the real Bellamys because she is the mother of the strongest Alpha Heir. He’ll make sure of that even if he dies trying.
"Hey," Grayson says suddenly, breaking his reverie. "You think Heidi’s really what people say she is?"
Morgan sucks his teeth. "Oh, she’s much more than that. "And by Monday... everyone will know it."
The car speeds down the road leading to the Economy Dorm where Heidi is. Inside, laughter fills the air; one genuine and one a mask hiding murder.
And Morgan sits there, eyes glinting like a predator in the glow of the dashboard lights, already tasting the blood of every lie he plans to spill. Because for him, this isn’t a short drive to Heidi’s dorm. It’s the beginning of the hunt.
.
By the time they pull into the dorm’s narrow parking space, students are already pouring out of the building like ants from a disturbed nest. Some carry duffel bags, most just chatter loudly, their laughter echoing in the cool air. The scent of cheap perfume and cafeteria fries mingles with the faint musk of pine drifting from the forest edge.
Morgan leans back in his seat, his gaze lazily scanning the crowd. The glow from the dashboard paints his face in muted blues and greens.
"Economy Dorm," he mutters under his breath, as if the name itself tastes cheap. "God, even the building looks like it’s allergic to money."
Grayson chuckles beside him, tapping the steering wheel with his fingers. "Not everyone can afford our taste, brother."
"Clearly," Morgan sighs, watching a group of girls emerge from the dorm entrance, their voices high-pitched and giddy. They spot the Bellamy car instantly and the change in their expressions is instantaneous. Laughter shifts to squeals, steps slow into sways.
Morgan sees the hair flips, the glances, and the coy smiles. Like clockwork, one of them elbows another, whispering something that makes them all giggle. The pack girls. The kind who think looking at a Bellamy long enough will get them pregnant with power.
Oh, please. Morgan grounds his jaw, trying to keep his anger at bay. He only wants Heidi, not some cheap pack girls!
