Chapter 278: 278 Do you remember Di Jizhou?_1
"Fuck!"
Wen Jiang was, of course, just bluffing.
She couldn’t possibly unleash that sword strike. Not only would using it in the city completely drain her, but with people scattering in panic everywhere, she wasn’t depraved enough to do so.
At the very least, she had managed to drag the fight further away.
But now, the cherry blossoms blooming incessantly within the city gave her a strong premonition.
She immediately retracted her combat stance, ready to flee as Gabriel flapped its wings.
Michael slowed her down, but her own speed wasn’t lacking. In almost an instant, they had all reached the edge of Ceylon City.
However, the cherry blossoms continued to spread at a pace no less than Gabriel’s, charging straight towards it.
Wen Jiang still had a final trump card. She could retreat to the Jimo Family in the Imperial City whenever she wished, but her task was not yet complete.
"Has that person escaped yet?"
Her mood was particularly foul right now, all because she was trying to divert their attention.
"Almost."
Seeing her bad mood, Xing Wu refrained from making any infuriating gestures.
But with the cherry blossoms approaching menacingly, Zero Egg suddenly cried out, "This card—it’s from our deck!"
Was this a System card?
Wen Jiang was stunned for less than a second before asking directly, "What ability?"
Zero Egg replied, "I don’t know since we haven’t drawn it..."
Wen Jiang suppressed the urge to curse and quickly deduced that the card must have come from Yu Jian.
Yu Jian hadn’t returned to Ceylon City yet. This card exerted even more pressure on Wen Jiang than Michael had, making it highly probable that the Blood Emperor was controlling it.
He was a UR Rank; confronting Wen Jiang now was not a wise choice.
After lurking in the shadows for so long, the Blood Emperor finally made his move.
As Gabriel was maneuvered into other parts of Ceylon Cemetery, the immense size of the SSR Card became impossible to hide.
Her blood was still churning, and a sharp pain shot through her heart. It felt as if another bone had snapped.
Seeing the Wind Dragon and Michael pursuing them from a distance, she decided it was better to switch tactics than let Gabriel be drained to death.
She was about to retract Gabriel when the bizarre speed of the cherry blossoms exceeded everyone’s imagination. Just as Gabriel was about to disappear, a cherry blossom tree bloomed from beneath its feet. The fragile, beautiful petals possessed a sharp, cutting beauty, instantly leveling everything around.
Yet, it stopped right in front of Wen Jiang.
SWOOSH.
She saw a cherry blossom bloom right before her eyes, dazzlingly beautiful. Beneath the cherry tree lay the two A-Rank Cards Wen Jiang had summoned, pierced through by branches in an instant.
"Fuck—"
She was like someone using cheats, and this Blood Emperor guy—he was definitely broken!
After all, these were cards created by the Heart of the World. The cards from the Guiqing Association hadn’t seemed to possess any special abilities before, but this one was completely different.
Its speed was incredible, sprouting almost the instant it touched the ground. If not for Wen Jiang’s rich combat experience and her subconscious reaction to danger, she herself would have been pierced by the cherry blossoms.
Narrowing her eyes, Wen Jiang used her Spiritual Energy to mask her aura and headed for the mountains in Ceylon Cemetery.
Meanwhile, she continuously threw out A-Rank Card Spirits to block the cherry blossoms’ path.
Perhaps it was completely unexpected, but upon seeing more than a dozen A-Rank Card Spirits appear beside Wen Jiang, even the Blood Emperor was shocked.
The blossoming speed of the cherry blossoms clearly faltered for a moment.
And in that instant, Wen Jiang timed it perfectly, executing a swift spatial shift back to—Ceylon City.
Yes, her objective wasn’t complete. How could she return so soon?
The short-distance teleportation didn’t significantly affect her Primordial Spirit. There was just a fleeting moment of dizziness, and when she looked around again, she was already standing amidst ruins.
There was no one around. The battle’s repercussions had destroyed all the electrical circuits, and no surveillance cameras remained.
She had hidden a teleportation formation in her home. Wiping her face to restore Helena’s appearance, she furrowed her brows and walked from the ruins back to the main street.
Two of her bones had indeed been broken by the backlash of her vital energy. Her Spiritual Energy was currently somewhat chaotic. She was trying her best to calm it when she suddenly heard the Mech King’s voice.
"Helena..."
Wen Jiang turned her head and saw the Mech King standing in the distance, his expression somewhat odd.
The reason he looked strange wasn’t because of something he saw. Rather, it was because no one else was around, yet Helena appeared injured.
He narrowed his eyes, a barely controllable impulse gradually rising within him.
Helena had stolen his first place and even received an audience with the Blood Emperor. This gave him a severe sense of crisis.
His card-making journey hadn’t always been smooth sailing; it was normal for him to not take first place sometimes. However, Helena was a newcomer, and a newcomer who held a grudge against him at that.
Wen Jiang could tell from his expression that he wasn’t harboring any good intentions.
She gave a forced smile. "Mech King, what bad luck."
The Mech King’s face twisted, but seeing Helena’s pale complexion, he restrained the immediate urge to attack her. "Are you injured?"
He licked his lips, his thoughts turning to the raging battlefield nearby. If... if he dealt with Helena now, while no one was around...
Wen Jiang narrowed her eyes but did not respond.
After such a huge battle, the Mech King knew in his heart that Helena had likely been caught in the crossfire. After all, many Spirit Card Masters in the vicinity were injured.
In battles between S Ranks, survival was paramount if caught in the middle of the fight.
He was lucky; he had decided to go out today.
When he saw things going south, he noticed several SSR Card Spirits battling outside the city. Realizing the danger, he had turned back, only to run into the injured Helena.
There was no one around at this time; everyone had instinctively fled to safer places. The Mech King really didn’t want to miss such an opportunity.
His palm twitched, and he immediately activated his card’s ability—
Yes, he could perform Spirit Fusion. He didn’t need to summon a card to borrow some of its power.
In an instant, he appeared before Helena.
Just as he was about to strike, his opponent suddenly looked straight at him and asked in a low voice, "Mech King, do you still remember Di Jizhou?"
"What?"
Perhaps taken aback by her unexpected remark, the Mech King genuinely paused for a moment.
But it was only for a brief instant. His face contorted savagely as he snarled, "What nonsense are you spouting?"
His hand radiated with card energy as he launched an attack at Helena.
Having been revered in Ceylon City for so long, he had lost his basic vigilance.
In his mind, even if Helena resisted, he could simply claim she was hit by an SSR Card’s attack.
No one would believe Helena.
The Mech King thought he had anticipated everything. Wen Jiang, too, had predicted she would kill the Mech King.
However, no one could have predicted what transpired in that very instant.
TSS—
A remnant branch of a cherry blossom tree burst forth from within the Mech King’s body.
Warm blood spurted out, nearly splattering Wen Jiang.
The moment she sensed danger, her fingers twitched subconsciously, hiding within her sleeves.
She saw the Mech King’s eyes widen in disbelief.
Even in death, he probably never imagined who had killed him.
The remnant branch then grew into a towering tree. Under Wen Jiang’s watchful gaze, it devoured all of the Mech King’s flesh and blood in the blink of an eye.
She stood under the cherry blossom tree, her eyes turning golden, gazing at the slender figure that had appeared before her.
