Chapter 275: 275 SSR Combat Angel Gabriel_1
Zero Egg had made those cards before, and now she felt that Wen Jiang should still have more in her possession. Karin had been investigating Helena’s true identity, but no matter how she traced the information, she couldn’t find it. Helena’s name might be fake, and her information might be fake as well. But a person couldn’t possibly appear out of thin air; with the power of Ceylon City, they should have found some clues. Yet, to date, they indeed hadn’t found any information regarding Helena’s "true identity."
This was too bizarre. Unless Helena had the support of a huge force behind her. But if that were the case, wouldn’t an A-level Spirit Card Master like her be afraid of not being able to leave Ceylon City after arriving? Or perhaps, the information Helena gave was the real deal. After all, they had found the school she graduated from. Zero Egg had thoroughly disguised herself, and to everyone else, the photo and school records she synthesized seemed genuine. Helena hadn’t lied; she had indeed come looking for her brother. The information was true, which was why Karin and the others couldn’t find any other traces.
Yet, Karin couldn’t quell her doubts. Was it really so? What’s more, the Blood Emperor, the boss of the Sixth Division, had previously taken a special interest in Wen Jiang. When facing others, or even the former sales champion, the Mech King, the Blood Emperor hadn’t shown any particular interest. Could it be that the Blood Emperor had seen something?
Wen Jiang glanced at Karin. "I already have an idea. I plan to make a set in the mechanized elf style."
Elves had already been featured in several cards in the last Mechanical Angel series, but to maintain a consistent style, she had opted for an icy, solemn feel.
Elven style was also a famous card system in Xi Zhou and the North Continent, and Karin’s eyes indeed lit up. "You’ve already decided what to do so quickly?"
Helena’s talent was truly astonishing. Wen Jiang merely smiled, a curl at the corner of her lip.
This made Karin even more certain that Wen Jiang already had a batch of cards prepared and was now deliberately revealing them. Her motives had also become enigmatic. With these cards, Helena could become a celebrated guest of major associations anywhere and wouldn’t be as restricted as she was in Ceylon City. So, what exactly was her purpose in coming here? However, now that the Blood Emperor had taken an interest in her, it would be completely impossible for Helena to leave in the future.
Karin was still in a good mood about the prospect of making money, as her visit this time was almost exclusively about card matters. As she was about to leave, she seemed to remember something and asked, "The card the Blood Emperor gave you, it’s not causing any problems, is it?"
"None," Wen Jiang’s response was very casual.
It might impact others, but it really didn’t affect her. Karin’s expression was thoughtful as she glanced at Wen Jiang, then she left.
Wen Jiang noticed that Xing Wu also left with Karin. She took a glance but didn’t dwell on it.
Late that night, as Wen Jiang was making cards, she suddenly heard an explosion. The sound interrupted her concentration, so she stopped and looked out the window. A blaze was spreading through the night sky of Ceylon City. She heard screams and saw a huge Card Spirit, styled like a Western Dragon, far in the distance—an SSR Card, the Wind Dragon of Xi Zhou.
Violent winds ravaged the surroundings. Wen Jiang touched her chin. With a battle this fierce, could Xing Wu have caused some trouble?
Of course, she couldn’t just sit by and watch. The wild winds were engulfing nearby buildings, reducing everything in their path to ruins, and they seemed to be heading straight for Wen Jiang. She clapped her hands and jumped out the window.
"What’s going on?"
"Damn it, how could Ceylon City allow an S Rank Spirit Card Master to take action?"
"Shit, are we going to die here...?"
Spirit Card Masters, mostly A-level and B-Level, were fleeing all around. Witnessing an S Rank Spirit Card Master fight in person was far more shocking than watching a live broadcast. The distant Wind Dragon roared, leaving devastation in its wake. Someone recognized the card. "Isn’t the Wind Dragon God Linglong’s card? Who is she fighting?"
Shui Linglong—another high-ranking member of Fiend. Wen Jiang was interested in the gossip but suddenly spotted Xing Wu flying toward her. Compared to before, he seemed even more like a real person, although others still couldn’t see him. He stretched out a hand toward Wen Jiang, pointing in a specific direction. It was clear he had something to say to her.
Wen Jiang glanced around. The scene was chaotic, filled with the mixed screams of Spirit Card Masters and ordinary people, all now desperate to escape. Shui Linglong had caused such a massive disturbance, yet no one had stopped her. An S Rank Spirit Card Master in a frenzy could destroy half a city, so everyone was desperate to flee.
She ran with the crowd into a secluded alley, then turned to look back at Xing Wu. "Did you cause this?"
Xing Wu smiled. "Sort of."
Wen Jiang was surprised. "I didn’t realize you had this kind of capability." He was just a spirit summoned in card form, yet he could achieve something like this.
"What happened?" She had a feeling that Xing Wu seeking her out was related to the current chaos in Ceylon City.
Unexpectedly, Xing Wu raised his hand, and an SSR Card as tall as a person materialized in it. This truly shocked Wen Jiang. She recognized the card: Combat Angel Gabriel, one of the Sanctuary Empire’s Zhènguó-level Cards. Having a card wasn’t strange, but how could Xing Wu, who was himself a card, summon another one?
Sensing Wen Jiang had many questions, Xing Wu quickly explained, "Someone made a deal with me. This card now belongs to me, and I need your help with a favor—a fair trade.
"One, you use Points to summon me. I need to cause a stir in Ceylon City to attract attention. As the stake for this trade, this card will be yours.
"Two, you use this card to attract others’ attention, and the card will still be yours."
Wen Jiang crossed her arms, sneering. "I’m just an A-level Spirit Card Master, and you want me to use an SSR Card? Are you out of your mind?"
Xing Wu looked at her intently, his pure black pupils filled with an indescribable temptation. "I know you can do it. With your ability, briefly channeling an SSR Card is possible.
"I wouldn’t recommend the first method. I would need tens of thousands of Points to complete that deal, and you don’t have enough right now. If the System doesn’t receive sufficient energy replenishment quickly, it could collapse."
While Wen Jiang frowned in thought, the Wind Dragon’s roar grew closer. Xing Wu glanced in that direction, a hint of urgency in his eyes, yet he still appeared unhurried as he faced Wen Jiang. He said slowly, "Your path to advancement won’t be too smooth. You haven’t experienced any real challenges since coming to this world. Even when making an SSR Card, your chance of failure is very high.
"This is your opportunity. I can see it."
He raised a slender finger, and the SSR Card slowly floated toward Wen Jiang. "You may choose for yourself."
Wen Jiang asked, "And if I don’t agree?"
"The card will disappear." Xing Wu looked at the card, a touch of regret in his expression. "This is a transaction. If I can’t accomplish what I promised someone, then this card will belong to neither of us."
