Chapter 132: Half Awake

Chapter 132: Half Awake

Emira was barely awake when she became aware of the people around her. Their voices were low, cautious and scared. Well, that was new. She’d never known them to fear someone so much.

She didn’t need to open her eyes to know who her kidnapper were. She would recognize those vile scents anywhere. These were the same men who had haunted her for years-the ones who had tormented her ever since she had started to change, ever since she had grown breasts and caught their filthy attention.

Her heart thudded in her chest, but she kept her breathing steady, pretending to still be unconscious. She had learned long ago that silence and weakness was her best weapon. Especially when it came to the wolves of the Moonville Pack, who thought them above Omegas.

If they thought she was out cold, they might talk. And if they talked, she might finally learn what they wanted this time.

The hard ground beneath her told her she was lying on a makeshift bed of some kind. So, they’d stopped at some kind of a hotel or motel.

She frowned inwardly. The last clear thing she remembered was being dragged into a car. She had tried to fight, had kicked and screamed, but Owen had struck her hard enough to make her head spin.

When she’d come to for a brief moment inside the car, she’d seen two of them in the front seats, whispering nervously. T

At first, she’d assumed they were continuing what they’d always wanted-to hurt her again, to finish what they had tried before. Taking her forcefully. The thought made her stomach twist with disgust and fear. But something had changed. Just before she’d lost consciousness, she’d heard them talking uncertainly about needing to deliver her to Moonville safely.

Jace had even muttered something that sounded like, "If anything happens to her, Master will have our heads."

That had made no sense. And who was master? It could not be Alpha Soier. Even though he was feared by the pack, there was some kind of reverence in the two people when they spoke of this ’master’. It could not be Alpha Soier.

Her brows furrowed slightly. Had Alpha Soier ordered her capture or this master?

Just then, she felt movement around her and then she heard a knock on the door.

The low murmurs of the two men around her stopped instantly.

For a few seconds, there was silence as Jace went to open the door slowly.

Emira didn’t open her eyes, but she could feel the change in the air.

A new scent filled the room, soft, floral, but mixed with metal and smoke. Whoever had entered wasn’t just anyone. She was a rogue wolf and something more. She frowned. The metallic burnt smell was similar to the person who had kidnapped her...

"Ma’am," Owen spoke first in a tone so polite that Emira almost opened her eyes to make sure this was the same brute who knew not to say a sentence without cursing. "We have brought her here as carefully as we could. Without injuring her. She did bump her head against the car, but that is it..."

The woman didn’t answer immediately but Emira could sense her moving closer, and she realized with horror that the woman was coming to ’check’ on her. The next minute, she felt a gaze on her as a soft voice spoke, "Hmm. So this is the girl."

Even though the woman’s voice was soft, almost sweet, Emira felt a shiver crawl up her spine.

The woman stopped near her head. For a moment, there was silence again. Then she spoke, almost lazily, "Is she still a virgin? Do you know?"

Emira’s stomach twisted. Her pulse quickened, but she didn’t dare move. She could practically feel Jace glance at Owen before answering. "According to the person who was keeping an eye on her, she is indeed a virgin. The princes have played with her, but not... not f**ked her."

A sharp laugh followed, "Very good. Very good," the woman said, clearly pleased. "It seems even the heavens are helping us."

Her voice lowered slightly, though it still carried that cruel amusement. "Make sure to keep your dirty paws to yourselves," she warned. "Don’t touch her. Not even by accident. If the master finds a single mark on her that shouldn’t be there, he will make you regret being born."

Both men murmured quick words of agreement, their fear thick in the air

Satisfied, the woman moved closer. Emira felt a faint touch on her chin, "Such a fragile little thing," the woman murmured, tilting her head. "Who would have thought she’d be so important to our cause?"

Then the hand withdrew, and the woman’s heels clicked again as she turned away. "Keep her drugged until we’re ready to move. The master doesn’t want her waking up before the ritual. And we will be going to the Ruins directly. Tomorrow, go and get her some white gowns that she can don for the ritual."

Ritual. The word sent a cold chill through Emira’s body. She forced herself not to react, not to breathe too quickly.

"And remember- if she’s harmed, you won’t even get the mercy of death."

The door shut, leaving the room in silence once more.

Emira stayed still, her mind racing trying to make sense of this entire conversation. Ritual... Master... who were these people and what were they planning? And what did this have to do with the Ruins?

Just as she thought to move, she felt her arm being grabbed roughly and then, before she could fight, something was injected into her. Her eyes flew open in alarm, but before she could react, she felt the cold liquid being pushed into her veins, spreading fast.

"No..." she tried to speak, but the word barely left her lips. Her vision blurred, the dim light of the room warping at the edges. She struggled weakly, her fingers clawing at the hand holding her down, but her limbs felt heavy and soon, her world started to turn dark...
