Chapter 212: Conqueror’s Haki
Hancock had won four matches in a row, earning Alucard three billion Berries in prize money. However, her body was now at its absolute limit. After the fourth match, her petite body was completely leaning against the wall, her eyes half-closed. Forget a slave, even a random commoner could have kicked her away with a single blow.
"No, that’s enough!" Sandersonia couldn’t take it anymore and shouted, "If she keeps fighting, our sister will really die!"
Swish!
Saint Hadilly snapped her fan shut and glared at Sandersonia with displeasure. "Aptheim-sei, control your slave!" If her own slave had dared to say such a thing, she would have killed them without a second thought. But since Sandersonia was another Celestial Dragon’s slave, even if there was a slight chance of offending another Celestial Dragon, she wouldn’t risk punishing her.
Alucard squinted at Sandersonia. She was just an overweight woman with a common face, but for some reason, his gaze gave Sandersonia and Marigold an indescribable sense of fear. Unconsciously, Sandersonia closed her mouth and didn’t dare to say anything more.
"Next! I’ll bet one billion Berries!" A Celestial Dragon sitting two tables away from Alucard raised his hand and shouted, a cunning glint in his eyes. He could also see that the little girl in the maid outfit on the stage was about to die. There was no way she could survive the next battle.
Originally, this Celestial Dragon wanted to bet twenty billion Berries at once, but he thought that would be too openly offensive, so he changed it to "one billion." After all, Celestial Dragons were not afraid of offending anyone outside, but here, among other Celestial Dragons, everyone had to consider the consequences of their actions.
The two golden hair ties that were originally holding Hancock’s hair at the front of her shoulders had disappeared. Her messy black hair was hanging in front of her face. If she were wearing a white dress, she would have looked just like Sadako.
Just then, a new opponent, a tall man with green hair parted in the middle, walked onto the stage. He had a collar around his neck and a serious look of anger on his face. The second before he stepped onto the stage, he glared down fiercely and thought to himself, ’I hate you! Celestial Dragons!’
’A common human? It seems I’ve been underestimated.’ Alucard observed the green-haired man. He was only about twenty-five years old. Other than being a bit tall, there was nothing special about him. He was a regular human and not a Devil Fruit user. It seemed that the Celestial Dragon who had placed the bet with him knew that Hancock couldn’t hold on any longer, so he just sent a random person to fight. ’I’ve really been underestimated.’
After the battle began, the green-haired man showed no mercy to the weak little girl. He delivered a fierce kick. Hancock couldn’t dodge and had to cross her arms to block it. But even so, her small body was still sent flying. Her back slammed into the giant pillar behind her, and she fell to her knees, coughing up blood two seconds later.
"I won the billion," the Celestial Dragon who had sent the green-haired man shouted excitedly.
"Please! Let me fight instead! If this continues, my sister will really die!" Seeing Hancock in that state, Sandersonia couldn’t bear it anymore. Large tears rolled down her face as she ran to Alucard and knelt, begging.
"You can’t change your ’betting chip’ in the middle of a game," Saint Mjosgard said from a nearby table.
Alucard acted as if he didn’t hear anyone. He remained in his posture with his feet crossed on the table, watching the battle on the arena stage.
"I have no grudge against you, but in order to survive, you must die!" The green-haired man had no intention of giving Hancock a chance to breathe. Even though she was still on the ground, he still rushed over to finish her off without mercy.
Hancock, with blood still trickling from the corners of her mouth, struggled to raise her head. She thought to herself, ’I... am I going to... die here?’
Suddenly, the corner of her eye caught sight of her two tearful sisters, Marigold and Sandersonia, below the stage. Her pupils constricted, and an unknown power burst forth. A wild shout erupted in her heart. ’No! I can’t die!’
A faint, invisible gust of wind swept through the entire banquet hall. The green-haired man who was about to deliver the final blow rolled his eyes and opened his mouth wide, freezing in his tracks.
He wasn’t the only one.
The group of Celestial Dragons below the stage were in the same state, their eyes rolling back and their mouths wide open. A few seconds later, one by one, they fell over onto the tables.
Sandersonia and Marigold stopped crying and stared blankly at Hancock on the stage. They saw her supporting herself with her hands on the ground, her head held high in a defiant pose. A few seconds later, she couldn’t hold on any longer and collapsed heavily onto the arena stage.
"O-Onee-sama!" Sandersonia and Marigold screamed. They ignored everything else and ran onto the arena stage. They hugged Hancock and checked her breathing. Sandersonia said anxiously, "It’s no good, her breathing is so weak! If we don’t treat her soon, she’ll really die!"
Alucard had already taken his feet off the table. He walked over to the unconscious Hancock, whose face was mostly covered by her black hair, and who was barely breathing. He took one of her hands, and the corners of his mouth curled into a smile, revealing two rows of sharp teeth.
"Today will be a good night..."
