Bai Ye Lu Zuo

Chapter 9 The Awakened of the Supernatural World

The electric current paralyzed the zombie dog, and then Bai Ye kicked it away.

Bai Ye quickly got up from the ground. The old magazine in his pistol dropped, and Bai Ye immediately took out a new magazine and inserted it. The moment the zombie dog got up...

Bang!

Bai Ye walked forward, raising his hand and firing at the zombie dog to his side, blowing its head off with a single shot.

"Ning Shuang!" Bai Ye immediately moved forward, hooked his finger, and said, "Imperial Sword!"

The suspended Ning Shuang Sword turned into a silver light and shot forward, drawing a splash of blood before swiftly piercing the heads of two zombies.

Bai Ye loved this sword now. Both were rewards for being the first to kill in different worlds. Thinking of that damned incomplete Sunflower Manual, which only wanted to trick him into self-castration, and then looking at the Ning Shuang Sword, it was simply awesome.

Meanwhile...

Bai Ye reloaded the magazine without any delay. He raised his pistol and fired rapidly, continuously headshotting the approaching zombies.

He moved forward, passing through the office area, and quickly reached the door. He glanced back at the zombies still gathering, then swiftly opened a metal plate by the door, revealing a keypad lock for the area door.

Bai Ye directly fired two shots, making the keypad lock smoke. Then, a mechanical whirring sound came from overhead, and a metal door slowly descended.

Watching the remaining zombies being sealed outside, Bai Ye couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. He then turned and walked forward.

Past the office area was the virus storage area.

A huge octagonal hall. Scattered papers lay on the floor, surrounded by some instruments of unknown purpose. Cables snaked out from a corner, still sparking. Along the edge of the octagonal hall were large glass panels, through which one could see different viruses stored behind them.

These viruses were created by the Umbrella Corporation through analysis of the original virus's components, or synthesized by extracting components from the original virus.

Bai Ye walked slowly around the octagonal hall as if on a tour, looking at the viruses behind the surrounding glass walls. After a full circle, he arrived at the glass wall at the very front.

This glass wall was different from the others. The vast space could hold hundreds of virus tubes, yet behind this glass wall, there was only one tube!

Within the virus tube flowed a clear, viscous liquid, in which were tiny black particles, so numerous they could induce trypophobia.

This was the Origin Virus!

Bai Ye approached the glass wall and glanced at the instrument on the side. Just as he was about to act, at that very moment...

A gust of wind seemed to sweep around him.

The next instant, the papers on the ground suddenly flew up, quickly adhering to Bai Ye's hands and then constricting.

Soon, Bai Ye felt a slight pain as his five fingers were forcibly pressed together.

"I advise you not to move unnecessarily!" a voice came from behind Bai Ye. "Those papers are enough to easily crush your finger bones."

Bai Ye looked back. The grille of a ventilation duct on the side wall fell off, and a man with red hair emerged from the duct.

Bai Ye looked at him, then at the papers binding his hands, and asked, "Manipulating paper, are you from the world of espers?"

"Correct. You can call me Lu Zuo, or Paper God." Lu Zuo said, wiggling a finger to the side. "Could you move aside?"

Bai Ye remained in place, watching Lu Zuo. "There's only one Origin Virus. If I move, it'll be yours."

Lu Zuo toyed with his bangs. "You don't seem to understand your current situation. I'm in charge now."

The moment Lu Zuo spoke, the papers wrapped around Bai Ye's palms tightened again. Intense pain radiated, and Bai Ye's face contorted in agony. At that moment, Bai Ye felt as if all ten of his fingers were twisted, and he could vaguely hear the cracking of bones.

But at that very instant...

The Ning Shuang Sword, floating beside Bai Ye, suddenly transformed into a silver sword light and shot towards Lu Zuo.

"Paper Wall!"

Lu Zuo grunted, and the scattered papers around him flew up madly, stacking together rapidly to block him.

With a tearing sound, the Ning Shuang Sword pierced the paper wall but couldn't completely penetrate it.

Lu Zuo casually picked up a piece of paper and tore it. "Paper is fragile, but with enough quantity and thickness, it can be even sturdier than a wall. So, your sword is useless against me..."

Lu Zuo trailed off, as if remembering something, and pointed to Bai Ye's waist.

"Your hands are restrained, so you can't draw your gun or fire it," Lu Zuo said with a triumphant smile. "What other tricks do you have? Oh, right, you can also discharge electricity. Perhaps you're also from the world of espers? Too bad..."

Lu Zuo raised his foot and swung it towards Bai Ye.

Thick layers of white paper were wrapped around Lu Zuo's foot and calf, looking like a pair of boots.

"A4 paper doesn't conduct electricity," Lu Zuo said with a smile, looking at Bai Ye. "I made thorough preparations before appearing before you."

Bai Ye's expression was calm. He wasn't surprised by Lu Zuo's extensive preparations. He had already known someone had arrived at the experimental area before him.

The zombie dogs couldn't jump to the height of the ventilation ducts. If someone hadn't tampered with them, they wouldn't have been in the ducts.

And the papers around them. Although there were plenty of paper documents piled up in the office area behind the door, this was a virus storage room. Documents wouldn't be stored here. Even if some papers drifted in from outside, the quantity shouldn't be this much. Clearly, Lu Zuo had scattered these papers here in advance to use his esper abilities.

After a moment, Bai Ye sighed and said slowly, "You're very happy?"

Lu Zuo smiled. "Of course!"

Bai Ye said, "You're happy too soon."

"How so?" Lu Zuo asked. "In this situation, do you still have a way to turn the tables?"

Bai Ye asked, "A4 paper indeed doesn't conduct electricity, but what about wet A4 paper?"

Lu Zuo was stunned for a moment, then his eyes widened like saucers as he thought of something and looked at the ground.

A large portion of the papers scattered around had been soaked with liquid, and it was even clearly visible that the liquid was still spreading, wetting more papers.
