Chapter 43 Dr. Hard

Bai Ye immediately took to his heels and fled.

Even though Bai Ye’s body had been enhanced by the T-virus, it was no match for a behemoth of this size. The difference was that a collision would turn him into mincemeat, whereas now it would merely leave him battered.

However, after his body was enhanced, Bai Ye’s speed was comparable, and while he was no match for the Carnotaurus in a direct physical confrontation, this did not mean that Qiao Ye lacked the means to kill it.

Running forward at high speed, Bai Ye reached out and patted the surrounding trees, leaving marks as he went, and then…

Rumble, rumble, rumble!

The moment the Carnotaurus charged forward…

Invisible Explosions!

Explosion sounds rang out consecutively, sending the Carnotaurus’s massive body toppling to the ground, its skin sustaining blast injuries.

However, it was only for a fleeting moment.

After tumbling a couple of times on the ground, the Carnotaurus quickly resumed its pursuit of Bai Ye, clearly far more resilient than the Velociraptors encountered earlier.

But as the Carnotaurus gave chase again, frost mist began to swirl on the ground ahead.

Condensing Frost Sword, Sword Manifests Frost!

Crack, crack!

As the Carnotaurus stepped into the frost mist, its body was immediately covered in a layer of frost, and its speed slowed.

In that instant, Bai Ye executed a slide-step, forcefully bringing himself to a halt, a talisman held tightly in his hand.

“Thunder Curse!”

As the talisman burned, a bolt of lightning suddenly descended from the heavens, striking the Carnotaurus with immense force.

A pained roar echoed, and within the lightning, the Carnotaurus’s body swayed uncontrollably.

“One isn’t enough?” Bai Ye grinned. “Then have another one!”

Bai Ye swiftly took out a second talisman, pinched it between his fingers, and shook it. Then, as the second talisman burned, the Thunder Curse was cast once more.

Boom!

Lightning flashed across the sky again, and a second bolt of thunder struck the Carnotaurus with tremendous power.

This time, the Carnotaurus could no longer hold on. Its massive body swayed and then slammed heavily onto the ground, black smoke billowing from its form. After twitching for a while, it lay still.

Bai Ye let out a sigh of relief, casually waved his hand, and recalled the Condensing Frost Sword, which had transformed into frost. He then scanned his surroundings.

As he had been evading the Carnotaurus, Bai Ye discovered he had stumbled upon a cluster of buildings.

This brought a flicker of joy to Bai Ye. Could there be people here?

The possibility was slim; this place was now overrun with dinosaurs, and it was more likely that any survivors had been eaten. However, the presence of buildings meant Bai Ye might find food and fresh water.

But the moment Bai Ye stepped through the shattered glass and entered the building…

“A person, a person, it’s really a person!”

Before Bai Ye could even identify what was inside the building, a voice suddenly rang out. Following the sound, Bai Ye saw a disheveled man running madly towards him.

“Don’t come any closer!”

Bai Ye immediately drew his playing cards, holding them in his hand, and eyed the man warily. It wasn't just because of the man's disheveled, even monstrous appearance, resembling a ghoul.

It was because the man was holding a double-barreled shotgun, had a bandolier of ammunition slung around his waist, and even two grenades holstered there.

“No, no, no, I have no ill intentions,” the man immediately raised his gun, speaking hastily. “I am Doctor Harding, you’ve come to rescue me, haven’t you? You must have been sent to save me!”

Bai Ye pointed a finger at the shotgun in the man’s hand, then at the table nearby, saying, “If you wish to communicate, turn your gun sideways and place it on the table. Your hands must remain within my sight. Do you understand?”

“Yes, yes, no problem!”

Doctor Harding agreed readily and slowly turned to put down his gun, but then seemed to recall something and raised it again.

“Huh?”

Bai Ye’s vigilance immediately heightened.

Doctor Harding said, “I can put down my weapon, but we can’t talk here. It’s too dangerous. We need to go somewhere safer.”

Bai Ye considered this for a moment and then nodded. “Alright!”

Bai Ye gestured again, and Doctor Harding placed the gun on a nearby metal table.

Bai Ye casually picked up the shotgun and slung it over his shoulder. He then reached out and unfastened the grenades from Doctor Harding’s waist.

“Follow me.”

Doctor Harding called out and quickly led Bai Ye to the side.

Only then did Bai Ye have the opportunity to observe his surroundings. It appeared to be a mess hall. Moving through a corridor led to an office area with many laboratories, suggesting it was some kind of research center.

After passing through the office area, Doctor Harding led Bai Ye to an electronic door. After entering a code, a passage leading underground opened.

There was space underground as well, seemingly a research area, but it now served as a living space.

Bai Ye saw cans scattered on the floor, along with other discarded living refuse in a corner, emitting a rather pungent odor. A metal experiment platform had been repurposed as a bed, with a sleeping bag laid upon it.

Doctor Harding said, “Alright, now we can talk. Who are you employed by? An investment firm? Or the military? You’re here to help me, right?”

Bai Ye shrugged his shoulders. “Sorry, I’m just passing through.”

Doctor Harding blinked, then suddenly became agitated. “No, that’s impossible! You’re not here to save me?”

“That is something we can discuss,” Bai Ye pointed to a nearby monitor. “You must have seen my fight through this, so I believe you have some understanding of my abilities. That’s why you rushed out to find me, isn’t it?”

Along the side of the room was a row of monitors, including a view of the area outside the building complex. Therefore, it was certain that the other party had witnessed Bai Ye’s battle with the Carnotaurus.

Bai Ye said, “However, I’d like to know what happened here first.”

Doctor Harding hesitated for a moment, then replied, “I wanted to create an extraordinary park.”

Bai Ye chuckled. “Jurassic Park?”

“Yes, the dinosaurs are the stars of this park,” Doctor Harding explained. “I gathered a large number of renowned scientists and used the blood from ancient mosquitoes trapped in amber to extract dinosaur genetic information. Using this information, I bred and reproduced dinosaurs, and indeed, I succeeded as planned. You must have seen those creatures on your way here.”

“Uh-huh.” Bai Ye nodded. “But this scene doesn’t seem to align with the word ‘park’.”

“Yes!” Doctor Harding looked exceptionally pained, clasping his forehead. “As you can see, Jurassic Park experienced an accident, a major accident at that.”
