Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Gotta Hold Tight to My Sugar Daddy’s Thigh

"Oh my darling, you look stunning!"

Jun was taken aback the moment she walked into the dressing room and saw Shi Su. Shi Su normally had captivating beauty; besides having a lovely appearance, her charisma was exceptional, consistently exuding a refreshing sense of allure.

But it’s truly no exaggeration to say that clothes make the person. This off-shoulder star-patterned dress seemed tailored just for her, especially now as Shi Su’s tired eyes, from a whole day’s hustle, glimmered like stardust scattered on a lake, shattering a pool of radiant ripples. The aura emanating from her whole being felt entirely transformed. This naturally graceful beauty is a rare sight in the entertainment industry, which is often filled with artificial enhancements. Even the word "stunning" falls short of describing Jun’s feelings at this moment.

Shi Su was a little embarrassed by the praise, especially since there were others around. She gave Jun a glance to urge her to tone it down. Jun laughed, walked over, and touched the diamond necklace on Shi Su’s neck, marveling inwardly—even though Shi Su was the spokesperson for Tilans, this dress and diamond accessory were undoubtedly extravagant pieces. Was Tilans really this generous to Shi Su?

Jun suddenly lowered her voice and asked, "Is there some connection between Tilans and Yu Jing Group?"

Shi Su was already feeling unsettled, and hearing this out of the blue momentarily left her in a daze as she hesitantly looked at Jun and uttered, "Huh?"

Noticing Shi Su’s completely oblivious expression, Jun decided not to probe further, "You’ve indeed been up too early today, and exhausted yourself all day. I can see you’re so tired your eyes can hardly stay open. There’s some time before the banquet; rest here for now, I’ll come to get you when it’s time."

After speaking, Jun nodded politely to the few stylists in the dressing room, who immediately took the hint and departed.

Once Jun went out to handle other matters, leaving Shi Su alone to rest, Shi Su turned and seated herself on a simple sofa by the wall in the dressing room, closing her eyes for a short rest.

The dressing room was extremely quiet; Shi Su, eyes closed, almost drifted into slumber but feared her sleeping posture might ruin her recently finished styling, so she leaned sideways on the sofa, letting her head droop slightly to rest, trying not to mess up her hairstyle against any surface.

Unknowingly she fell into a haze for an uncertain duration, when suddenly a strange sound pierced the quiet dressing room, resembling the sizzling hum of electricity.

Shi Su opened her eyes groggily, only to see the lights above flickering erratically as if malfunctioning, alternating between dim and bright, hurting her eyes.

She frowned and got up to call someone for assistance. Opening the door, she discovered the hallway outside was deserted, and the lights there were also flickering oddly.

Hesitating, she decided to go back and fetch her phone to call Jun and the others when suddenly she heard footsteps outside. Turning around, she saw a person in work attire, wearing a hat, goggles, and mask, carrying a toolbox, heading her way.

For some reason, there was a strangely familiar feeling about the person, though wearing work clothes concealed their figure, and the large protective mask and goggles obscured their face even more.

"Sorry, the hotel’s power on this floor suddenly became unstable. The main circuit breaker is in this room; the boss sent me to fix it," the person said after approaching, then immediately moved to enter the room.

Shi Su instinctively stepped aside as she watched the person, simultaneously turning inside to grab her phone.

The man in work clothes, for some unknown reason, glanced her way after entering but fortunately didn’t directly shut the door. Instead, he turned to the wall on the other side, removed a painting to reveal the main circuit breaker hidden behind, and squatted down to start working on it.

With the sudden closure of the circuit breaker, the lights in the dressing room immediately went out.

The room plunged into darkness, but the next moment, the worker took a bright flashlight from the toolbox and illuminated part of the room. He also wore a headlamp fixed above his forehead.

Though merely an electrician, Shi Su couldn’t fathom why she felt intensely uneasy—a nagging sense that something was amiss. She sent a message to Jun asking where she and Chu Jiu were but didn’t receive a reply for quite some time.

Calling Jun and Chu Jiu, she repeatedly got no answer.

Continuing to call only led both phones to show engaged status, frustratingly unreachable.

"Can you please hold the other end of the voltmeter?" the worker suddenly spoke, looking her way.

Shi Su felt instinctively something was off seeing him look at her, yet couldn’t help but be drawn closer, against her will, to assist him.

Finally, she glanced at the toolbox beside the worker; inside, instead of electrical tools, there appeared to be... a piece of clothing.

She looked more carefully and her face suddenly changed drastically.

It was a white dancing dress she wore when she was a teenager at a national dance competition years ago, a long-sleeved dress with conspicuous blood stains!

Shi Su immediately felt her hair stand on end, wanting to throw what she was holding and retreat. The worker crouched before her suddenly pulled down the mask and goggles, revealing the face of Mr. Chu, whom she had once idolized with admiration!

She was so shocked she lost her voice, wanting to escape, but Mr. Chu swiftly reached into the toolbox, grabbing a rope hidden under the dress and instantly slipped it over her neck, viciously pulling her backward—

...

"Shi Su?"

"Shi Su? Stop sleeping."

Shi Su snapped her eyes open, lifting her gaze to find Jun holding a phone in one hand, patting her on the body with the other.

Seeing Shi Su awake, Jun answered the call that had been ringing for a while, simultaneously signaling Shi Su that the banquet time was approaching.

Shi Su took quite some time to regain her composure, glancing around the dressing room—where were the flickering lights from electrical issues, the hidden circuit breaker, the dressing room was neat, with only two makeup mirrors adorned with plenty of lights, several potted plants, and bright, clean lighting all around; nothing seemed out of place.

The stylists came in one after another, checking her dress and makeup. Shi Su had probably napped half an hour, slightly affecting her hairstyle when resting her head against the sofa side. After tidying up her hair, the stylist helped her stand.

The stylist touched her hand, curiously remarking, "Why is your hand so cold? Are you feeling chilly?"

The dressing room’s warm air conditioning was on, perfectly temperate, with no chill to be felt.

Shi Su withdrew her hand, "I’m alright."

Exiting the dressing room, Shi Su sent Wen Ke a message on WeChat: [Where’s the safest place to live? Give me some advice!]

Wen Ke replied: [Where you’re staying now is very safe.]

Shi Su: [Kaixing Mansion?]

Wen Ke: [Yeah.]

Shi Su: "..."

Seems she really needed to stick with the benefactor and endure being under someone else’s roof for a bit longer!
