Chapter 179: Chapter 179: Mr. Jing Never Liked Those Types
Precisely after Jing Jihan tasted a bit of her shark fin soup, the action of placing the bowl back in front of her was so practiced and natural, as if sharing tableware was a trivial and ordinary matter between them.
Shi Su paused for a moment, initially pulling his hand under the table but then quickly retracting, not daring to look at the several big bosses present.
But with her gaze lowered like this, she couldn’t help but notice the bowl in front of her, which now seemed a bit scorching hot in her eyes.
As the saying goes, "A king’s favor is unpredictable, accompanying a king is like accompanying a tiger," Shi Su felt this way now.
Even though what Jing Jihan was doing didn’t have any cold or unsettling implications, she couldn’t figure out what the purpose of this scene today was.
In her impression, Jing Jihan was not this extroverted; he leaned more towards being reserved and cautious, and had disdain for displaying his affairs under public scrutiny.
So what play is he putting on today?
During the meal, another waiter came in to serve dishes, removing the last two appetizers from the table, and placing two plates of limited special seafood, steaming with mist, right near Shi Su.
The ice plates holding the seafood were carved into lifelike shapes, and just the abalone and sea cucumber inside were enough to fill Shi Su’s eyes.
And indeed she was full, as she usually didn’t eat much seafood; she was just looking.
But with those two plates so close, the thick layer of ice on the decorated plates still exuded cold air, and since she wore an off-shoulder gown, she hadn’t initially felt cold, but now it was chilly enough to make her shiver unconsciously.
"Miss Shi Su is wearing a gown, she’s probably feeling cold, let’s move those two plates to a different spot." A sharp-eyed executive on the table noticed Shi Su’s slight shiver and promptly instructed the waiter who hadn’t left yet to rearrange the dishes.
Shi Su hurriedly said, "No need, no need, I’m fine, it’s okay."
"It was our oversight, please relocate them."
Mr. Mike’s translation assistant glanced at Shi Su’s gown, thought about it, and seemed to want to instruct the waiter to fetch Shi Su’s coat from downstairs.
But before they could speak, they suddenly saw Jing Jihan unbutton a button on his suit, then drape it over Shi Su’s shoulders.
The translation assistant immediately held their tongue, thankful they hadn’t acted presumptuously, quickly sitting back down.
Shi Su was frozen in her seat, not moving. The two ice-laden plates had been moved away, and a warmth enveloped her back. The man’s jacket carried his warmth and his uniquely appealing scent, surrounding her with a familiar feeling that turned her mind into mush.
A few minutes later, she shot a look at the Jing Jihan beside her, then nodded apologetically to the bigwigs present, saying, "Excuse me, I need to touch up my makeup."
She wasn’t escaping; she really had eaten too much and drank plenty of fruit tea, desperately needing to visit the restroom!
After emerging from the restroom, Shi Su adjusted her gown’s hem in front of the row of mirrors, took out a lipstick to touch up her makeup. Considering the bigwigs likely still indulging in million-dollar Moutai discussing billion-dollar investment deals in the private room, she saw no rush to return and simply paced back and forth on the spot, pondering how to later discuss the Kaixing Mansion rental with the sponsor daddy once things were over.
She procrastinated for a while, just about to head out the door, when she overheard footsteps and a conversation passing by, prompting her to stop at the restroom door.
"Today was truly thrilling; after seeing videos and photos of Shi Su from the event, Mr. Mike showed some interest in her, even considering inviting her to dinner after the soirée...fortunately he hadn’t yet...otherwise, if Mr. Jing pursued it, Mr. Mike might have been directly sent back to France..."
"Today’s affair practically confirms Mr. Jing indeed has a girlfriend, and those who frequently think about sending women his way can probably ease up now, right?"
"Mr. Jing typically doesn’t like that, who would dare challenge his preferences now?"
"Shi Su certainly is quite beautiful, her demeanor is poised, and quite charming... Her face and figure don’t seem surgically altered; in terms of looks, Shi Su thrives by sheer divine blessing, practically a goddess by nature. Otherwise, how would Mr. Mike rarely show interest in a Chinese female star?"
"Even with interest, it’s useless; she’s Mr. Jing’s."
"Haha, let’s move past this topic quickly; let’s not mention it. Mr. Mike is probably feeling guilty already, hoping nobody notices his intentions..."
-
The soirée concluded. Having already met with the president of Tilans’ domestic division and made an appearance at the dinner, Shi Su no longer needed to return to the banquet hall.
Jun found Shi Su just as she finished changing out of her gown in the dressing room, into regular clothes, tying her hair into a bun on her head, seated, holding her phone and seemingly lost in thought.
"Not leaving yet?" Jun tapped her on the head: "I didn’t see you at the second half; where did you go?"
Though asking bluntly, Jun’s gaze was noticeably unconcerned.
Shi Su glanced up at her: "You saw?"
Jun raised her eyebrows, then suddenly smiled and stared into Shi Su’s eyes, saying, "I only saw Mr. Jing took you away. Even knowing you’d be fine, I was curious; you vanished for nearly two hours, don’t tell me Mr. Jing was that eager..."
"What nonsense are you thinking?" Shi Su’s eyelid twitched, interrupting her: "I just went upstairs to have a meal. Those Tilans senior managers were in an upstairs private room too."
She recounted the scene in that private room to Jun, who remained silent for a long time, then suddenly gave Shi Su a look of admiration: "Eating at the same table as an ad sponsor boss is a treatment not every top domestic star could guarantee. You’ve got potential, Shi Su. Will you take me along flying high in the future?"
Shi Su didn’t pursue this topic, just closed the calculator app on her phone, and asked, "Do you know roughly how much the monthly rent for Kaixing Mansion is?"
"Rent? Haven’t you moved in already? What rent do you need? Who else wants to rent there?"
"What’s the average monthly?" Shi Su dodged answering.
"Given Kaixing Mansion’s location and environment, it’s at least over fifty thousand per month, a yearly rent wouldn’t be less than half a million."
"Fifty...?!!!"
Shi Su could only utter a single word, her eyes shocked, and before continuing, her phone suddenly rang, the screen showing a string of an unfamiliar incoming call number.
