Chapter 175: Chapter 175: What? You Don’t Know Me?
Shi Su hadn’t really noticed the commotion over there. In a blink, she saw Jun and Chu Jiu not far behind her and cast a smiling glance at them.
Today’s event, besides high-level executives from various reputable domestic companies, also attracted many celebrities and elites both in and out of the circle, including actors, singers, and top agents.
Jun and her group had their own circle and were chatting with an artist director from a media company, so Shi Su didn’t join them. After exchanging glances with them, she picked up a wine glass and walked to the other side.
Though she was a spokesperson, there were many big names present tonight, and after having been on stage at the expo in the afternoon, she just needed to present herself gracefully and calmly here tonight, and occasionally appear confident and beautiful in media cameras; there weren’t really more demands.
Taking advantage of the fact that everyone was gathered in small groups at the banquet, with no one paying attention to her, Shi Su slipped to the dessert table by the side of the hall and took a bite of a cream cherry.
Not bad, pretty tasty.
"Excuse me, are you Shi Su?"
Just as she picked up another cake with cherries, a voice suddenly came from beside her.
Shi Su turned her gaze and saw a young girl in a gown standing nearby, examining her up and down with her eyes.
This gaze was nowhere near as polite as when she asked the question.
Shi Su discreetly withdrew her hand from the dessert table and smiled politely at the girl, "Hello, I’m Shi Su. May I ask who you are?"
The girl suddenly said something in a low voice to another girl nearby, then laughing and linking arms, they walked away, leaving Shi Su behind and ignored.
?
Shi Su didn’t feel awkward, as if nothing had happened, she turned and continued to pick up her cake. Usually, when Shi Mianmian was at home, she would take a bite or two when Mianmian was eating cake; she rarely bought it to eat herself.
It wasn’t because she wanted to maintain her figure by controlling her diet, but she wasn’t particularly fond of sweets herself.
Today, she felt the cake was remarkably pleasing, guessing it was an especially premium animal cream, melting in her mouth, sweet but not cloying, especially the large cherries on top were extremely delicious.
Not far away, the girl who had just asked her was surrounded by several girlfriends, occasionally glancing toward Shi Su while whispering among themselves, their expressions full of scorn or ridicule, jealousy or mocking.
To be honest, Shi Su found those few quite unfamiliar. Only two women looked slightly familiar; one was Tong Yuanyuan, who had lost the role of the second female lead in "The Yao Platform Traces" to her. She was a popular dancing and singing idol who debuted over a year ago, with a massive fan base with strong online fighting capabilities. Though they hadn’t met, Tong Yuanyuan had set Shi Su as a rival in her imagination, occasionally posting with underlying sarcasm aimed at Shi Su in her circle of friends, known only to those in her circle.
The other one seemed to be in the circle too, but Shi Su couldn’t recall her name.
The others, though not from the circle, should be daughters of prominent families, otherwise, they wouldn’t be dressed so finely at such an event.
Not blind to the occasional glances filled with exclusion and hostility directed at her from that group, Shi Su didn’t pay them any mind. Just as she was about to put down the cumbersome wine glass to enjoy her cake properly, someone else greeted her.
"Hey, Miss Shi Su?"
Shi Su turned around, gazed for a moment, then smiled, "Xu Dan, nice to meet you."
Xu Dan was a well-known figure in the industry as the principal of an entertainment agency, often known as the top agent sister, a very iron-handed female strongman. Many A-list male and female artists came from under her wing, but she was reputedly extremely harsh, with a temper that’s difficult, despite artists being extremely popular, they’d still tread carefully when speaking to her.
Shi Su had never imagined she would come into contact with her, much less get called out by Xu Dan here.
"I just saw Cen Jun over there. You’re one of her artists, I know." Xu Dan smiled and clinked glasses with Shi Su, "No wonder you got the endorsement of Tilans. You’re truly a natural beauty. A few days ago when I met with Cai Hong for work, he mentioned you and showed me some shots of you from his phone. He praised you repeatedly and plans to discuss a movie with you when you’re available. I specifically came over to greet the rising star in the circle."
"Xu Dan, you overestimate me. I’m just a struggling actress at the bottom, relying on the circle’s bigwigs for a livelihood ahead." Shi Su chuckled lightly, her eyes neither fearful nor proud, but simply graciously composed.
Xu Dan smiled at her, still silent, as Tong Yuanyuan, from earlier, suddenly came over, hugging Xu Dan’s side like a long-time friend, "Oh Xu Dan, long time no see, I missed you~"
After a few pleasantries, she abruptly turned her gaze to Shi Su, pretending not to recognize her, and asked, "Who is this?"
Xu Dan raised an eyebrow, "You don’t know each other?"
Tong Yuanyuan, standing innocently beside Xu Dan, asked affectionately with her arm linked with Xu Dan’s, "No, never met, who’s this?"
Shi Su calmly glanced at Tong Yuanyuan’s very convincing act and didn’t indulge her. She glanced at her, speaking, "What? You don’t know me?"
Evidently not expecting Shi Su to be so direct, Tong Yuanyuan looked at Shi Su, blinking, appearing naive and pure, "...Am I supposed to know you?"
Xu Dan silently watched the two without speaking, simply observing Shi Su’s demeanor.
Shi Su didn’t say much more, just looking at the one who had been scoffing and mocking her from afar earlier—Tong Yuanyuan—she smiled gently, "I thought you would know. It seems Miss Tong’s memory is like a fish, only lasts seven seconds. I’m Shi Su."
Tong Yuanyuan seemed not to have understood Shi Su’s expression, her eyes filled with surprise instantly, "Oh, you’re Shi Su?"
Having no desire to partake in such dull conversation, Xu Dan found it increasingly unaesthetic, "I’ll be over there, you guys chat."
After Xu Dan left, the smile in Tong Yuanyuan’s eyes was no longer the blank naïve look it was at first, suddenly raising her glass toward Shi Su, she said meaningfully, "Earlier, I really couldn’t recognize a superstar like you, didn’t realize you’re the Tilans spokesperson, really couldn’t tell. How about we toast and you accept my apology as a sister?"
Who’s your sister?
Shi Su briefly smiled at her, glanced at the red wine in her hand, not only did she not clink glasses, she directly placed her own wine glass next to the dessert table, turned away, and left without another wasted word.
