Chapter 290: Chapter 290 I want to bring my boyfriend_1

Having received a new reward, a delighted Su Xuan continued to drive for Didi.

To his bemusement, it was just like before. As soon as passengers got into his Koenigsegg, they became extremely uneasy and didn’t dare to chat. Even when he initiated conversation, they would only give brief answers before getting out of the car the moment they reached their destination. Under these circumstances, nothing special could ever happen.

Repair the scooter! I have to get the electric scooter fixed!

Su Xuan immediately called a repair service.

That afternoon, while Su Zimo was in her office revising an interview manuscript, the station manager suddenly entered with someone in tow.

"Zi Mo!" The station manager, a fifty-year-old man with a severely bald head and thick-lensed glasses, stood before Su Zimo’s desk. "Put your work aside for a moment. Let me introduce someone to you."

"Oh, of course." Su Zimo closed her laptop and looked up.

"This is CEO Wei Hongzhen," the station manager said, pointing to a portly man beside him with a greasy face and hair. "He’s the head of a high-tech company that manufactures advanced robots. They operate on a large scale, and many of their employees are top, overseas-educated talents in the intelligent robotics industry. CEO Wei is also a very close friend of mine. Zi Mo, I’d like you to do a special feature interview with him. It would be a good way to bring some high-tech content to our station’s programming. Can you handle this assignment?"

"Station Manager, I already have five or six interviews lined up. Could someone else possibly do it?" Su Zimo asked reluctantly.

She had been swamped these past few days, so busy she hadn’t even had time to grab a meal with Su Xuan. She knew the station manager’s real intention was just to help CEO Wei promote his company! She really didn’t want to do such a technically simple task.

"You’re the pillar of our station; I can’t trust anyone else with this!" the station manager said firmly. "I’m leaving it to you. Finish the interview with CEO Wei today! Now, you two can chat for a bit. I have to go take care of some things."

With that, the station manager left.

Su Zimo’s office was a small, private space—not large, but clean and cozy. Once the station manager left, only Su Zimo and the greasy Wei Hongzhen remained.

"Ms. Su, this is my business card. Please accept it." Wei Hongzhen produced a card and placed it on her desk. "I’ve seen almost all of your interviews on TV. It’s an absolute honor to have you interview me!"

In reality, he was bluffing. He had only seen her interviews two or three times and hadn’t even watched the one she did with Su Xuan.

"Eh?" Su Zimo glanced at the business card and realized his company was quite different from what she had imagined.

She had pictured a company that produced intelligent robots capable of talking, walking, throwing tantrums, and even assisting in disaster relief. Instead, it was just a robotic vacuum company! There are so many companies like that in China. It seems so ordinary!

At the same time, she noticed something else. Ever since the station manager had left, Wei Hongzhen had been shamelessly staring at her face and figure. She could even hear him audibly swallow his saliva.

"Mr. Wei, please have a seat," Su Zimo said, gesturing to a nearby chair. "Let’s begin the interview right away."

Such an interview was completely formulaic. It would consist of asking about the unique features of his company’s products, his difficult journey as an entrepreneur, and the mindset behind his venture. It didn’t require any prepared script.

"There’s no rush," Wei Hongzhen said, waving his hand dismissively. "Interviewing here feels a bit inappropriate—too rigid and lacking atmosphere. Besides, I have some things to take care of soon. Why don’t you book a restaurant for tonight? We can conduct the interview over dinner."

As he spoke, he kept sizing her up. When he couldn’t see her legs, he craned his neck to get a better look, acting like a total lech. Moreover, he had specifically requested her for this interview from the station manager. He had his eye on Su Zimo ever since seeing one of her interviews on television and desperately wanted something to happen between them.

He had successfully preyed on one or two female reporters before. His method was to get them drunk over dinner and then take advantage of them, smoothing things over afterward with money and sweet-talk. He figured he could succeed with Su Zimo this time, too. He particularly enjoyed going after female reporters; they had an intellectual air about them that made them a special delicacy to savor.

"Dinner is out of the question," Su Zimo said, refusing him flatly. "I’m extremely busy lately, and conducting an interview over a meal seems unprofessional."

"It won’t be unprofessional if you pick a fine restaurant," Wei Hongzhen retorted. "Ms. Su, your station manager and I go way back—we’re from the same hometown. Should I perhaps have another word with him?"

"Mr. Wei, if you insist on conducting the interview over dinner, fine," Su Zimo said with a frown, "but I have one condition: I’m bringing my boyfriend."

"Hmm?" Wei Hongzhen was taken aback. During his chat with the station manager, he had subtly pried and learned that Su Zimo didn’t have a boyfriend. Where did this boyfriend suddenly come from?

But on second thought, he guessed her real intention. How naive! She was trying to scare him off by inventing a fake boyfriend on the spot? He’d seen that move plenty of times throughout his womanizing career. It didn’t matter. With his methods, he’d get what he wanted anyway!

Putting on a magnanimous air, Wei Hongzhen laughed. "No problem at all! In fact, I’m quite curious to meet the man who captured your heart. It’s settled, then!"

With that, he left her office.

"Hey, Su Xuan." Su Zimo immediately called Su Xuan and explained what had just happened. "You have to help me! The way that guy looks at me is like a cunning wolf!"

"Haha!" Su Xuan laughed when he heard the story. "As it happens, I haven’t had a good free meal in a while. For that, I’m happy to brave the lion’s den with you."

"Hee hee!" Knowing Su Xuan wouldn’t let her down, Su Zimo giggled sweetly. "He also told me to book an upscale restaurant. What do you think about your place, Lycar?"

"Let’s not go to Lycar this time," Su Xuan said. "I have a better place in mind. Let’s go to Longmingxuan."

"Longmingxuan is quite expensive, though!" Su Zimo had no idea Su Xuan was now the owner. She just assumed he wanted to fleece Wei Hongzhen and said with a mischievous grin, "So, Longmingxuan it is?"

"Mhm, Longmingxuan!" A sly smile spread across Su Xuan’s face.

This is the perfect chance to generate some income for my own restaurant! Hahaha!
