Chapter 68: Thunder Slash

Chapter 68: Thunder Slash

The lady lifted the blade to her mouth; a thin mist slowly came out of her mouth as she licked the blade. Then she dashed forward, thrusting the blade right for Raze’s heart. He stepped back and everything seemed to go in slow motion as he swung his hands up, water forming and splashing right into her eyes.

His actions bought them a split second; it distracted her just enough for Gavin to push forward. He twisted his body, gathering all the force he could and channeling it into his fist. Flames erupted from his fist as he slammed right into the lady’s face. BAM!

The punch resounded. He poured every bit of strength he had into that fist, throwing the lady back and onto the ground; she slammed down on the cold floor. The moment she hit the ground, Gavin looked at Raze. They were meant to run, but he saw Raze standing in place, his body covered in flat ice and his breath a shaky cold, yet there was a smile on his face.

"Eat flames," he said before unleashing a flame stream on her. The flames burned through the air and slammed into the lady; he kept pumping out more with reckless abandon.

Gavin rushed up to him. "We have to run now," he said.

"In our condition now, there is no running. If she isn’t dead, she’ll catch up," Raze said.

Gavin frowned at how easily Raze spoke of death, but he didn’t allow the thought to linger, they had bigger issues now. "But we can’t kill her; her strength is too—"

"Hahaha—" the lady cackled. She slowly stood up despite the flames and rose to her feet. She swiped her hands and the flames were immediately dispersed.

"This was indeed a show to behold," she said. She wiped the blood under her nose from the punch, but aside from that, there was no other wound, she wasn’t even slightly burned.

"But now, I am tired of it," she said, and then lunged forward. Raze let out a smile. "I did my part. You guys take the rest," he said.

CLANG!

Her blade collided with a massive sword. The sound echoed through the entire forest; the shockwaves ripped through the trees around them. The lady was shocked; she looked up to see what had happened.

"Hahahaha," Ken let out a hearty laugh, but his eyes betrayed his anger. "You really pushed these two kids to the limit. How can the strong bully the weak?" he said.

"Another distraction, tsk," the lady clicked her tongue and then leaped backward, landing a few meters away.

"Lady Ella, please take young master Raze and Gavin away. I’ll handle her," Ken said.

Ella came out of the dark. She nodded and then tried to sling both Raze and Gavin’s bands over her shoulder, but in that moment Raze passed out. He had finally done what he needed to do, and his body gave out to the cold.

Ella caught him before he could hit the ground. She looked at Gavin. "Take him first; I’ll follow behind. He needs it more," Gavin said. She nodded, struggling to lift Raze up and onto her shoulder before leaving. Gavin gave Ken one last look and then followed behind.

The lady saw her target leaving and immediately frowned. "I’ll make sure I make you pay for wasting my time," she said.

Ken smiled and then gripped the sword with both hands. "Come on, show me what you have. I hope you can give me a good fight, assassin."

She lunged forward like an arrow, closing the distance in a moment. She leaped into the air, spun around, and slashed down. Ken lifted his blade at the right moment and blocked. Clang! The shockwaves spread out fast.

Ken was pushed back a few inches. The woman pushed him back and landed before attacking again. She came in with a flurry of slashes, left, right, and center, all trying to cut his vital parts.

’Tsk, she is strong’, Ken thought as he blocked the attacks. "You really are impressive. I don’t know why you would choose to use your skills as a killer," he said.

"Shut up, you old man, and die," she said before making a powerful upward slash. Ken blocked it and frowned. "Did you call me old? How dare you." His voice thundered; his muscles flexed. He lifted his sword into the air with both hands, his eyes glowing white for a moment.

The lady saw it as an opening, so she took it, but it was a trap. As she moved in fast to attack his exposed chest, his hands tightened; his muscles tensed so much they looked like they would rip.

The moment his arms moved down, she realized she had been baited. The speed at which his hands moved was so explosive that if a normal person tried it, they would surely rupture their muscles and shatter their bones.

In a panic, she kicked back, then used wind magic to push herself further away, managing to get out of the way just in time to escape the attack. She landed a few meters away, unscathed, or so she thought, as a drop of blood formed on her forehead and fell to the ground. A small cut had formed on her head.

"Hahaha. I don’t think anyone has ever escaped my Thunder Slash; even the captain always struggled against it," Ken said.

The lady got to her feet and let the blood keep dripping. "It seems you aren’t just some random person I can get rid of. You have some strength. If so, I’ll take this seriously and get rid of you."

"Wouldn’t have it any other way," Ken said, and then got into his stance again.

"I should help you remember me in the afterlife. Remember that your life was taken away by Shadow," she said. She then stood straight and gripped the blade in a reverse grip form. There was a silence between them, deafening and heavy.
