Chapter 94: Vivian Moreau

Chapter 94: Vivian Moreau

Lin Fang’s voice turned cold as he turned toward the women wrapped in the towel, peeking from behind the shower curtain. "I’m not going to repeat again. Listen carefully, Miss. First of all, this is a misunderstanding," he said, leaning slightly closer so the words cut as sharply as the blade as he then shifted to the one at his mercy.

"Second, Mister, I have no interest in that girlfriend of yours. For what it’s worth, it’s my mistake. I’m sorry, and if in the future, we meet again and you don’t have hatred toward me, I’ll compensate for the mental damage I caused, whether through money or action."

The man swallowed hard, his throat pressing against the dagger’s edge. He dared not move.

"But," Lin Fang continued, his tone dropping lower, almost turning into a growl, "if you intend to physically punish me over this, whether trying to beat me up or kill me, then I have to retaliate. Understood?"

The man’s head bobbed rapidly, like a frightened chicken. "Ye... Yes!"

Lin Fang shifted his gaze, glancing at the bathroom once again. The woman’s body was trembling, clutching the towel against her chest.

Lin Fang straightened slightly, lowering the dagger but keeping his grip firm. He bowed toward her deeply and said. "I apologize. Truly. I had no intention to invade your privacy. Because of the lack of control over the teleportation technique I used, this incident occurred."

The tension in the air didn’t vanish, but the weight of his words carried enough truth that even the woman faltered, her expression caught between fear and confusion.

Lin Fang didn’t wait to see the look on her face. He then vaulted through the broken window and hit the balcony rail in a roll. He spat a single word—"Tempest."—and the creature answered, erupting out of his pet inventory.

As the Lightning Pterosaur appeared in the mid-air and flapped its wings, Lin Fang took a leap and landed onto its back without thinking. Tempest flapped with more force, destroying the glass door behind the balcony before flying into the sky.

Below, the man who’d lost his temper bowed clumsily to the screaming woman, brushing off his clothes as if politeness could erase what had happened. "Vivian—are you all right?" he asked in an earnest voice.

Vivian didn’t want earnest. She wanted outrage. She snarled and spat at him, "Why did you leave me alone in the first place? You idiot, if anything happened to me, your father..." Her words cracked, then sharpened into venom. Before she finished the sentence, the man started to stammer apologies as he tried to explain... "I was in a meeting, I didn’t think..."

But Vivian, furious, didn’t let him finish either and shot back. "I don’t care about your excuses," she shot back. "I understand that you have no control over who intrudes into our hotel room quite coincidentally, into the bathroom while I was showering... But what about later... Why did you admit defeat so easily? Why didn’t you fight?"

The man’s jaw tightened, but he forced himself to reply while his gaze was on the floor. "He is strong. I’m no match for him."

Vivian clenched her fists, trying her best to control not to slap him. In the end, she spoke, her voice turning cold. "Alright. I understand you don’t have the guts. Then, do one thing. You saw him clearly. Form a sketch of him and go to the Hunters Association, investigate his background. I’ll take care of this matter by myself."

He nodded and then left with his shoulders hunched and his hands clenched so hard his knuckles whitened.

Vivian stood alone there with her chest heaving, clutching the towel around her.

She paced three steps, then stopped and pressed a palm to the sill where Lin Fang had been, as if imagining him looking back. "How. Dare. He."

Meanwhile;

The Lightning Pterosaur glided across the dusky sky with its wings sparking faintly with arcs of electricity. As the hot and strong winds hit Lin Fang’s face as he leaned forward, his hand reached out to the beast’s scaled neck, holding on to it so as not to fall down.

Meanwhile, inside his head, Alpha’s calm voice stirred. "I can sense trouble approaching you, Lin Fang."

Lin Fang’s lips pressed into a thin line. His eyes flicked back over his shoulder, scanning the cityscape below. "I know," he muttered, voice serious.

Far behind stood the only eight-story hotel he had just left. Its exterior gleamed with glass and golden trims, the name Oasis glowing in massive letters across the top. The seven-star hotel was famous—only the wealthiest and most influential dared to stay there.

Lin Fang’s gaze lingered for a moment, his eyes narrowing. "People from those places, with their high ego and arrogance, would never try to reason with those from lower social circles. Better to go far away from them."

The Pterosaur screeched once, wings beating harder as if it wanted to say it was there to punish his enemies. Lin Fang shook his head, exhaling. "Forget it. Let’s go."

He turned away from the sight and guided the beast straight toward home.

Later that night, warm light spilled across the residence’s living room while the TV played some random news channel at low volume. Lin Fang sat relaxed on the couch, one leg stretched over the other. A bottle of beer rested in his hand, foam still clinging to the rim.

On his lap, a small wolf pup snoozed peacefully, its chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm.

The sound of the front door opening made Lin Fang glance up. Zhi Yan and Li Liu entered together, dust from the day still clinging to their clothes.

"Yo," Lin Fang greeted casually, flashing a smile.

Zhi Yan blinked at him, surprise flashing across her features. "You... you look completely recovered!" Her tone was almost cheerful, the weariness she carried since morning washing off in an instant. She strode over and plopped onto the seat beside him without hesitation.

Before Lin Fang could say anything, she scooped the wolf pup off his lap. "And look at this little guy—Black!" she said warmly, hugging it close.

The words made Lin Fang’s smile fade a notch. His voice turned quiet, but firm.

"Its name is no longer Black. Black died. Remember?"

The room fell silent for a beat.

Zhi Yan froze, realization dawning on her face. Yes—Lin Fang had said it before in the hospital. Black had sacrificed itself. Her brows furrowed as confusion and guilt mixed. "Then... who is this...?"

Before Lin Fang answered, Li Liu’s calm voice cut in smoothly. She leaned against the armrest, lips curving in a faint smile. "Could it be... that some spirit king possessed it?"

She feigned ignorance, but the question was too precise.

Zhi Yan’s eyes widened. She slowly turned the pup in her arms, studying its face. The tiny creature blinked awake, pupils reflecting the light of the room. But they weren’t normal. One eye shone gold. The other—violet, with vertical slits like a predator’s.

Her breath caught. A single word escaped her lips. "Nemesis..."

Lin Fang gave a single nod. His expression was calm, almost solemn. "The Nemesis spirit decided to reincarnate in Black’s body. From now on, call it Xuan Hei."

The pup tilted its head at the sound of the name Nemesis spirit gave itself, a soft growl rumbling from its throat.
