Chapter 66 Party Problems II

Chapter 66: Chapter 66 Party Problems II

As the music thickened, so did the tension. Xylander was still deep in conversation with Alexander, convinced Daniel was at his side — unaware the man was nowhere near.

"Please, Alex, this many people shouldn’t be allowed again, no matter what." Xylander warned. Alexander nodded; he could see how uncomfortable Xyle was.

"Nobody’s going to just slip and leave — my security gadgets are everywhere. Anyone leaving will alert me," Alexander assured. But despite the reassurance, Xylander still wasn’t at ease; his conscience insisted it would be safer to invite only a few relatives and close friends. Better safe than sorry. When Alexander saw Xylander wouldn’t be calmed, he decided to reduce the guest list.

"So why don’t we cut them out? Anyone who wasn’t part of the inner-circle invites goes home. Alright with you?" Alexander suggested. Xylander finally smiled.

"Perfect." He nodded in acceptance. Alex returned a knowing smile — and then Xylander turned and realized Daniel wasn’t where he was meant to be.

"Dan!! Hubby, darling, where are you?" Xylander called, expecting Daniel nearby. The music was still blaring; the disco lights hid movement. "Fuck — who the heck played that track?" Alexander muttered as he scanned the room — and then he saw a dagger flying in Xylander’s direction.

With deadly speed and perfect precision, Alexander lunged and pushed Xyle aside.

Xylander gasped in shock at Alexander’s sudden movement, but the shock hardened into a cold dread when two deadly daggers embedded in the wall where Xyle’s head had been a heartbeat before. His pulse quickened. The message hit him like ice.

Daniel!!! He has been taken.

"Alexander — Daniel. Don’t just stand there, find him. He is the top priority. If he leaves this estate with that monster I won’t forgive myself in this lifetime," Xyle stammered, anxiety loud in his voice as visions of the horrors Daniel might suffer crowded his mind.

"I told you — God, why didn’t I hold him tight? I’m the worst husband." Xylander began to panic. Alexander moved to calm him and map out a plan.

"Xylander Wolfe, slow down. If you really want to get Daniel, reason with me first." Alex held Xyle’s hands.

"He can’t leave here. He may have thought his arrival would be favorable, but it was a trap — I predicted his move and the fool fell for it." Alexander purred. "This crowd wasn’t just here by chance. I invited them because Adrain likes to blend into big crowds, and this payback is important to you — so Daniel is important to you." Alex spat facts.

Xylander clutched his chest; his temperature and heart rate climbed. If Alexander hadn’t been there to steady him, he might have collapsed.

"Calm down, please, Xyle. God." Alexander quickly steadied him by clutching Xyle’s waist so he wouldn’t fall, then guided him toward the bar.

"Get me a bottle of water, please." Alex requested. It was handed over immediately, and he poured it over Xyle — not bit by bit, but in a rush that soaked him.

"You’re falling deeply in love with this guy, am I right?" Alexander guessed. Xylander nodded and Alexander sighed.

"Trust me. I’ve never failed you, Xyle, and I won’t start now. I like Daniel too — he’s what we need in this perilous life. He won’t be taken, and Adrain thought one of his men was by his side, but he’s been deceived." Alexander smirked. "Watch what I do."

Alexander’s confidence brightened the scene and gave Xylander a sliver of faith.

In the shadows, Cecilia and Tania readied their weapons, aiming for Xylander.

"Are you sure we shouldn’t leave it for the boss to handle?" Cecilia asked, not eager to face another round of brutal punishment. Tania, unbothered, kept her aim.

"He needs his body, not his breath. We finish him off and bring the body. Boss won’t come himself — he’s taking care of Daniel. He doesn’t trust us with him, so we were ordered to end him and bring his body." Tania revealed, clutching her gun and eyeing Xylander at the bar.

Cecilia stood back, exhausted. She wanted to recover from Adrain’s punishments, but she had no choice but to be here. This had been too easy — she should have suspected something. With the bastard’s money, why wasn’t Xylander surrounded by guards? Who would leave their boss alone at a bar? Her question was answered when a figure landed behind them and grabbed Tania’s head.

Cecilia spun, bringing up her gun — but the attacker was faster, too fast to track. He aimed his weapon at her.

"Make one stupid move and your head is gone," Alexander barked. Cecilia shuddered; fear flooded her.

Was this how she was going to die?

Tania’s fate rested in Alexander’s hands; her head could snap at any moment.

"Alexander — please — I thought you were one of us. What happened?" Tania asked, trying to find a way to outsmart him.

"Us? Ridiculous. I don’t roll with a bunch of novices who think they’re better than everyone," Alexander laughed. "What the hell did Adrain teach you to be so stupid in battle?"

"We are not stupid. Adrain Valez is the best teacher anyone could ask for," Cecilia lied through trembling teeth. She had reported treason before; the penalty was beheading. She had to support the boss or risk death.

Alex threw a mocking look, appalled at the organization’s sheer incompetence. A fool remains a fool. His pheromones crashed over Cecilia; she turned white and began to shake.

"That knife you’re holding — dear, use it and carve out your eyes," Alexander said maliciously.

Cecilia, a beta, froze. Her head rang with alarms — this was her fate sealed. No one would rescue her; no one was coming. Coming here had been their biggest mistake.

"You can’t just barge into Xylander Wolfe’s household and think you can leave with his husband. How delusional are you all?" Alexander clapped his hands. With a snap, Tania’s head flew from her body and fell to the floor.

The limp body hit the tiles, staining the floor with a spreading pool of blood. Alexander’s eyes turned hard as he looked at Cecilia, whose hands still trembled. A simple Alpha command could not be resisted by a beta like her.

"Please — I don’t want to die yet. I will run and you will never hear from me again," Cecilia begged, tears tracing her cheeks. But her tears mattered little to the stone before her.

Alexander had decided. No one was changing it.

"You insulted Daniel Morreti back at headquarters. Now you’ll see where your stupidity leads. In your next life, be kind to people and maybe your life wouldn’t be such a mess — and maybe someone would rescue you." He mocked and stomped his foot.

"What are you waiting for? Hit the damn eye with the knife already!" His aura wrapped around her, powerful and unrelenting. Cecilia found herself holding a knife with no memory of how it had come to be in her hand.

"Now!" his voice commanded.

Under the weight of that command, blank and dangerous, she obeyed — no blinking, no flinching.
