Chapter 610: Chapter 610: Meeting Again
Half a month has passed.
Li Yufei came out of a therapy center with a worried look. During this time, she had visited many famous doctors, reputable ones, ones with effective remedies, but none could treat Du Shaoheng.
A few old doctors didn’t even understand his illness, only repeatedly advised her to go to a big hospital first.
But quickly, she composed herself and got into the car, took out a marker, and crossed out an address on her notebook, "Go to the next one."
The secretary in front quietly reminded, "President Li, there’s an engagement today."
"Then let’s go back to the company."
"Yes."
Li Yufei leaned back and closed her eyes to relax.
The secretary hesitated several times before finally speaking, "President Li, we’ve almost searched all the doctors in Beijing. Do you think you should let others handle this since you’re so busy? Otherwise, it’s quite tiring for you, worrying about both the company and family and having to personally visit these people."
The secretary wasn’t prejudiced against these old traditional doctors, but many of them were very old, unable to hear people clearly or understand modern medicine, practically wasting time.
Besides, some young traditional doctors were quite arrogant, believing so much in big hospital diagnoses, thinking they could handle porcelain tasks without the necessary skills, which was quite draining for Li Yufei.
Li Yufei did not open her eyes, "Try again."
The secretary sighed, staying silent.
Several intersections later, Li Yufei slowly opened her eyes. The road in front of her was the very one where she had accidentally collided with Rong Ling.
Counting the time, quite some time had passed, and that young man hadn’t sought her out.
It’s quite good this way, saving her some trouble.
After all, if he later sought her for money, she would directly take him to court.
...
Eight o’clock in the evening.
Tingyu Pavilion Private Club was resplendent; it was Beijing’s most renowned private club.
Even the music played and the incense used were exclusively crafted by masters.
In the private room.
Glasses clinked amidst the sound.
Li Yufei held a wine glass; around her was a cacophony.
She raised her gaze, looking at several flushed men in front of her, clutching their wine glasses, talking grandly, and gradually, the topic shifted to her.
Li Yufei most disliked doing business with these people.
From the beginning until now, there wasn’t any substantial discussion.
The mahogany door was pushed open from inside; Li Yufei, slightly tipsy, left the private room and headed to the restroom. She turned on the tap and washed her face with cold water.
The project she had to discuss today was quite significant; those who came were of great importance. When men got happy chatting, they tended to drink too much; she usually avoided alcohol, but today she had no choice but to drink a little.
But discussing the project required staying alert at all times, so she found an excuse to come out during a break to refresh herself.
Once she was somewhat sober, Li Yufei took out her phone and called home, instructing Junjun not to wait before leaving the restroom.
After walking just a few steps, she saw a girl in a server’s uniform clutching her male colleague’s arm, quietly but pitifully sobbing, "I’m finished... I’m really finished... The manager will surely scold me to death..."
The person beside her interrupted sternly, "Stop crying, just leave directly, go home early."
"But I really need this job, I’ll go back later."
"I can introduce you to another job, though the pay will be less, but it’s safe, no need to interpret their expressions."
"Really? That’s wonderful, Rong Ling brother, thank you, you’re really great, and thanks to you I could be saved today."
Rong Ling.
Hearing the name, Li Yufei paused slightly, looked in the direction of the voice.
At the side of the corridor, Rong Ling was wearing the club’s staff uniform; beside him, a girl of similar age tightly clutched his arm, and simultaneously, a sharply dressed man who looked like a manager strode toward them.
"You two newcomers! Are you crazy?! You dare offend such big clients, do you know what kind of status Mr. Lin has? He’s our club’s key customer, what are you?! You dared spill tea on a guest’s head!!!"
"Now, I’m giving you a chance, crawl inside and apologize to the guests!!"
Li Yufei frowned, thoughtfully glancing at the two standing together.
In just a few sentences, she roughly understood the trouble Rong Ling had encountered.
Li Yufei’s eyes fell on him, noticing his arm wrapped in bandages, secured with a splint.
The manager looked at Rong Ling, poked his chest with his finger repeatedly, angrily scolding, "I hired you because you looked good, you, with such looks, doing well here, knowing how to please people, what money can’t you earn? You want to show off, act tough, be a hero and rescue the beauty, is that it?"
Rong Ling opened his mouth but hesitated, suddenly — he saw Li Yufei.
She was observing him with an exploring gaze.
Rong Ling felt her gaze, and when their eyes met, his expression stiffened slightly.
Her look towards him held no emotion, only a kind of thoughtful exploration.
But she carried an innate sense of pressure, giving a high-and-mighty feeling.
He coldly smirked, looked at the manager, "I was hired as a server, not a model."
"A server?! Ha! What service can you provide?" The manager took a step towards Rong Ling, grabbed his yet-to-fully-recover broken wrist, pointed at his nose demanding, "I should’ve fired you long ago! I took pity on you, so I kept you here; otherwise, I’d have told you to pack up and leave already!"
After a pause, the manager said to the girl, "Get back! Follow me and apologize properly to Mr. Lin!"
Rong Ling stood protectively in front of his colleague, said unwaveringly, "Manager, Wang Ju doesn’t do take-away."
What is referred to as take-away meant the "door-to-door" service involving models.
This type of private club offered many services; some had good looks but were simple-minded, merely wanted to earn money working; others hoped to trade their bodies for keys to the next level.
The club wished to please customers, naturally hoping these individuals would be more proactive, voluntarily maintaining the bosses peace, without causing trouble.
The manager hoped the club would give him more commission, so he would force them to accept similar take-away or accompaniment businesses.
"Whether to do take-away isn’t for you to decide, I decide, understand? Say one more word, and you’re out! Wang Ju, get back with me immediately!" The manager finished and reached to grab Wang Ju’s hand.
"I said, she doesn’t do take-away." Rong Ling blocked Wang Ju, saying defiantly yet calmly.
The manager was enraged, "You’re protecting her? Fine! Don’t want your job, huh? Then get out, tonight, not tomorrow, get out, don’t come back like a dog, you think you’re somebody, huh? Guests don’t pay you, tomorrow you won’t even have anything to eat."
