Chapter 678: Chapter 678: Save Me
Li Yufei found it strange. She was already tired of these dishes prepared by the chef, but unexpectedly, Xiaoyi liked them so much.
It was then she realized that Xiaoyi had never had the opportunity to taste such delicacies.
During their meal, Li Yufei briefly chatted with him about Xiaoyi’s recent life with the Li Family. Although Rong Ling had dinner with Xiaoyi before going abroad, and she happily told him that both Li Yufei and Junjun were very kind to him.
But through Li Yufei, he got to know the details of Xiaoyi’s life with the Li Family.
After having lunch, Li Yufei originally planned to return to her room, so she casually asked, “Are you going back to your room?”
Rong Ling said, “I want to go to the deck.”
Li Yufei raised an eyebrow, “Deck?”
Rong Ling said, “This is the first time I’ve seen the sea.”
Before this, he had never been to the seaside nor had been on such a cruise, mostly seeing them only in movies.
Li Yufei said, “Okay.”
She smiled happily, “I’ll accompany you.”
The two of them walked to the deck together.
At this moment, a gentle breeze was blowing, the sunshine was just right, casting a sparkling light on the sea as the cruise ship sailed forward, against the wind and waves.
Rong Ling walked to the railing, looking at the sea. As far as his eyes could see, the entire ocean seemed endless, meeting the horizon in the distance.
Li Yufei stood beside him, gazed out at the sea, also feeling a brief moment of tranquility.
The sea breeze was pleasantly refreshing.
The deck was divided into upper, middle, and lower levels.
They stood on the uppermost level. The middle level had an open-air swimming pool. Many men and women in swimsuits basked in the sun, while glamorous blonde women in bikinis frequently walked by, particularly eye-catching.
Rong Ling’s arms rested lightly on the railing, his peripheral vision falling on the woman beside him.
Li Yufei stood next to him, looking towards the distant horizon, her profile especially delicate, with a small oval face like a palm, her eyebrows and eyes like a painting, and a 95-degree angle between her nose and lips, elegant and charming. Upon closer inspection, it was startling to find that at the corner of her eye, there was a very faint teardrop mole with a beautiful vermilion hue, hard to notice from afar, but visible when up close.
Rong Ling’s breath slightly paused.
He hadn’t realized that while staring at her profile, his heartbeat stopped for a few seconds, even losing its rhythm.
He withdrew his gaze and looked in the direction she was looking. In the distance, a plane broke through the clouds and roared away.
Li Yufei said, “With good weather and the sea breeze blowing, I feel so much more at ease.”
She rarely had this leisure, briefly setting aside her heavy workload to peacefully appreciate the sea’s beauty.
After all, she was boarding the ship with a purpose this time.
She hadn’t slept well all night.
The wind and waves were somewhat strong at night, and she felt seasick, combined with having some concerns. Thankfully, she had the foresight to bring motion sickness medication, which allowed her to finally sleep well after taking it.
Rong Ling asked, “Do you have anything this afternoon?”
Li Yufei replied, “I have a video meeting.”
Rong Ling said, “Then I’ll walk you back to your room.”
Li Yufei smiled, “Alright.”
She turned around and headed towards the cabin.
As they approached first class, they saw some room doors were open, with several passengers holding their phones stepping out, seemingly trying to connect to a signal.
“Why is there no Wi-Fi?”
“Yeah, my phone has no signal either.”
“We haven’t even reached the Public Sea yet; why is the signal so weak?”
“The Wi-Fi is completely not working, what’s going on?”
Li Yufei frowned slightly and immediately said to Rong Ling, “You go rest in the room; I’ll go check the network.”
If the network is bad, she won’t be able to conduct the video meeting.
Rong Ling nodded, “Okay.”
He returned to his room, went straight to the bathroom for a shower, and came out in a bathrobe, only to find the balcony door open, sea breeze rushing in and blowing the curtains.
He was about to go to the balcony to close the door when suddenly he heard a faint cry for help from outside the balcony, “Is anyone there…help me…help me…”
Suspicion arose in Rong Ling’s heart as he followed the sound. He reached the railing to see a woman wrapped in a towel, hair in disarray, quietly calling for help from the balcony perched on the left side.
Rong Ling glanced over, startled.
The woman’s white towel was stained with many smudges, mixed with fresh blood, yet her exposed skin showed no wounds.
She seemed to have just finished a shower, her hair still damp, her face bearing numerous bruises, her cheekbones even swollen.
Upon seeing Rong Ling, she looked like a drowning person who had spotted the last straw floating at sea, tearfully pleading, “Help me, help me…”
As she spoke, she straddled the railing, apparently attempting to climb from that room’s balcony to Rong Ling’s balcony.
Rong Ling immediately stopped her, “Don’t move; it’s dangerous.”
First-class was located on the mid-upper levels of the cabin, ten meters above the middle deck. If she accidentally lost her footing and fell, it would be fatal.
The woman, however, paid little heed to that, struggling desperately to reach Rong Ling’s balcony.
Fearing she might really fall, Rong Ling moved forward and extended his hand, “Grab on.”
The woman’s eyes lit up with hope and immediately grabbed his hand, preparing to use the railing for leverage.
Rong Ling, however, single-handedly lifted her up, pulling her entirely onto the balcony.
The movement was significant, causing the woman’s towel to nearly slip off. Rong Ling turned his head away immediately, avoiding looking at her undressed body, “Your towel…is slipping.”
The woman awkwardly reached out, clutching the towel tightly, and hurried back into the room from the balcony.
“Quickly, come in…quickly come in…”
Rong Ling frowned and entered the room.
The woman immediately locked the balcony door and drew the curtains, finally exhaling a sigh of relief. Yet, due to immense fear, her whole body still trembled.
Rong Ling was somewhat angry, “Do you know how dangerous that was? Are you crazy?”
The woman sat down in a panic on his bed.
It was all a survival instinct.
For the sake of staying alive, she could barely care about anything else; even if she accidentally fell from such a height, it would be better than dying at the hands of those people!
The woman hugged herself tightly, tears continually streaming down, “Someone…someone is trying to kill me…”
Rong Ling only felt her words were as absurd as an unrealistic story, “What did you say?”
The woman covered her mouth, wanting to cry but not daring to make a sound, “He died…my fiancé died…at their hands…they took me hostage, interrogating me about the key, but I didn’t dare say anything because if I revealed that key, I wouldn’t be alive now…I took advantage of their inattention, rushed into the bathroom, locked the door, climbed out through the skylight, and crawled across several rooms’ balconies…before I saw you.”
