Chapter 707: Chapter 707: Turning Danger into Safety
Guan Yue was astonished.
Li Yufei explained, “So… it was because of his illness that this accident happened, not because of you. You don’t have to blame yourself for everything.”
Guan Yue furrowed her brows, confused, “What gender disorder are you talking about? I don’t understand…”
Li Yufei said, “He fell ill, it was because of his illness that this accident happened.”
Guan Yue shook her head, incredulous, “He never mentioned anything like this to me…”
Suddenly, Madam Guan rushed over and grabbed Li Yufei’s hand tightly, “Why do you know about this? Did Shaoheng tell you? Why did he only tell you and not my daughter? She is his wife! He hid everything from my daughter but told you! Just what is your relationship with Shaoheng?”
Facing Madam Guan’s questioning, Li Yufei did not get angry. She politely freed her hand from Madam Guan’s grip, “I have no obligation to explain your absurd speculations. At most, we are just friends, you don’t need to over-interpret.”
Madam Guan, “What do you mean by over-interpret! Didn’t you just say the illness is severe, a terminal disease! Something this serious, he didn’t tell my daughter but instead told you! You also said you are at most friends! Such matters, the closest wife and daughter are unaware, but you know everything, huh?”
Guan Yue said, “Why didn’t he tell me?”
Du Ruo stood up, seeing Madam Guan pressing Li Yufei with questions, just as he was about to come forward to mediate, Li Yufei suddenly interrupted Madam Guan’s words coldly, “I persuaded him! He said, he didn’t want his wife to know about this and live in fear.”
Li Yufei looked at Guan Yue again, “He cares for you, that’s why he didn’t dare to tell you. He didn’t expect his illness to flare up so suddenly. He has been taking his medicine diligently, keeping his condition stable. This flare-up might be due to the deterioration of his condition, he didn’t expect it either.”
Du Ruo came over, blocking Madam Guan slightly, “Auntie, don’t make things difficult for Yufei. I also know about Shaoheng’s illness, indeed, it’s because Shaoheng didn’t want to tell Yueyue.”
Madam Guan looked at Du Ruo, displeased, “You are Yueyue’s sister-in-law, you and Yueyue are family, why are you taking the outsider’s side! I get it, Shaoheng is sick, you must be the happiest! After all, if he falls, the Intercontinental Group would be yours!”
Guan Yue, “Mom, don’t say such nonsense!”
Du Ruo, with a good demeanor, disregarded Madam Guan’s words, “He is my brother, we grew up together, my feelings for him are not shallow. I am part of Yueyue’s family, but Auntie, you are an outsider, this is a Du Family matter, it’s not for you to meddle in!”
Madam Guan still seemed to want to say something, but Mr. Guan scolded, “Enough! Don’t you think it’s chaotic enough!? Stop embarrassing yourself!”
With that, Madam Guan sulkily sat back down.
Li Yufei gently put her arm around Guan Yue’s shoulder, “Stay strong, the doctor has only issued a critical condition notice, he is still being rescued. Even though it’s a narrow escape, you must believe that miracles can happen. He has so many people he cares about, he will surely live well.”
Guan Yue was choking with sobs and trembling, truly terrified.
Du Ruo helped Guan Yue back to the bench, looking at Li Yufei, “Yufei, I’m sorry to disturb you so late, I didn’t expect she would call you.”
Li Yufei, “She was afraid I wouldn’t see him one last time. I understand.”
She looked towards the rescue room door.
The door was tightly closed.
The light above the operating room remained on.
Guan Yue raised her head, staring intently at the door, her swollen eyes continuously shedding tears.
Li Yufei leaned against the wall, clenching her fist.
She raised her wrist and looked at her watch.
Du Shaoheng had been in the operating room for three hours.
She knew that if no good news comes from the external injury rescue for a long time, it would indeed be very bad.
Li Yufei crossed her arms, patiently waiting.
Du Ruo wiped away tears secretly and suddenly asked Li Yufei, “Should we bring Xixi and Junjun over?”
Li Yufei shook her head, “I don’t believe he won’t pull through.”
Du Ruo, “What if…”
Li Yufei, “There’s no what if.”
She had already obtained the information on the Regenerative Cell Factor, determined to cure Du Shaoheng’s illness by any means possible; he couldn’t fall here.
Li Yufei, “You must believe there is still hope. Doctors tend to exaggerate the condition to prepare people mentally. When they say things are critical, the reality may not be as hopeless. Just wait a little longer…”
An additional half-hour passed.
The rescue room door was finally pushed open.
The doctor came out of the rescue room, standing at the door, relieved.
Li Yufei just took one look and knew what the situation was.
As soon as Guan Yue saw the doctor come out, she stood up nervously, moving towards him step by step, “Doctor… how is my husband?”
She was afraid to ask but had to force herself to.
On the doctor’s tired face, he managed to pull out a weary smile, “Mrs. Du… Mr. Du is temporarily out of life-threatening danger.”
Guan Yue’s face showed a bitter smile, but seemed to realize something, furrowing her brows again, “Temporarily?”
The doctor said, “Specifically, it depends on whether he can wake up. If he remains unconscious for a long time, he may become a vegetative state.”
Guan Yue gritted her teeth, cold sweat trickling down her forehead.
The doctor reassured, “Mrs. Du, don’t worry too much, Mr. Du is blessed.”
Guan Yue said, “No matter what, thank you, doctor! You’ve worked hard.”
Doctor, “It’s my duty.”
After saying that, he turned and went back into the rescue room.
Not long after.
A hospital bed was pushed out from inside.
Du Shaoheng was lying on the hospital bed.
A group of people gathered around.
Li Yufei leaned against the wall, watching the hospital bed being pushed past her. Amidst the crowd, she only saw Du Shaoheng’s pale, sickly face, covered with dried blood.
Only when the hospital bed was wheeled into the elevator did Li Yufei seem to awaken from a dream. She vaguely felt something run down her cheek, she raised her hand and gently wiped, it was a tear.
Du Ruo came over, Li Yufei immediately turned away, wiping the corner of her eye, regaining her composure before turning back to her.
Du Ruo pretended not to notice the tear stain on her face and smiled, “I know you’re worried about him, do you want to go see him?”
Li Yufei, “No need, knowing he’s out of danger brings me much relief.”
Du Ruo said, “Shaoheng is okay, tonight, Guan Yue and I will keep watch over him. You should go back early! Tomorrow, regardless if there’s good or bad news, I’ll call you.”
Li Yufei, “Alright.”
Du Ruo looked at her expression, seemed to think of something, hesitated but ultimately said nothing.
