Chapter 698: Chapter 698: You Have to Call Me Aunt
The smile made Li Yufei slightly lost in thought.
Rong Ling raised an eyebrow with a slight curve: “What’s wrong?”
Li Yufei returned to her senses, muttering, “Rong Ling, has anyone ever told you that you look good when you smile?”
Rong Ling: “Yes.”
Li Yufei: “So, you know you look good when you smile?”
Rong Ling answered honestly: “I don’t know.”
After all, he wasn’t narcissistic enough to admire his silly smile in the mirror.
Li Yufei: “Why do you always have such a straight face and hardly ever smile?”
As she spoke, she unceremoniously messed with his face with her hand.
The youthful face, still carrying traces of innocence and rebellion, was showing the angles of his jaw, but his cheeks were still full of collagen.
Rong Ling gently placed his hand over hers: “If you like to see me smile…”
He looked up: “Then I’ll smile more often.”
Li Yufei: “Like it, of course, I like it.”
Rong Ling embraced her into his arms.
Li Yufei was so frightened that she didn’t dare to move, mindful of his injuries, afraid of accidentally touching his wounds: “You’re still hurt from the gunshot; can you be a little more restrained?”
Rong Ling said seriously: “I am being very restrained.”
This statement seemed to carry some insinuation.
Li Yufei pretended not to understand: “Just lie still, if your wounds open up again, they’ll have to be stitched back.”
Rong Ling: “Then kiss me.”
Li Yufei: “Didn’t we just kiss?”
Rong Ling squinted his eyes: “Kiss or not?”
Li Yufei gave him a reassuring peck on the cheek: “Is that enough?”
To her surprise, this guy seemed quite easily satisfied; after a peck on the cheek, he obediently let go of her and lay back on the bed.
Soon, a bag of nutrient solution was finished, and the nurse came in to replace it.
Due to the infusion, his entire arm was icy cold.
As an injured patient, Rong Ling could only lie still on the bed, unable to do anything.
Luckily…
Li Yufei was there to keep him company.
As long as he could see her, even time seemed to quiet down.
Rong Ling closed his eyes and fell back into a deep sleep.
Half-asleep, Li Yufei whispered by his ear: “Sleep, I won’t leave.”
…
The Li Family.
Du Shaoheng dropped Junjun off at the door.
Junjun got out of the car, looking preoccupied as he walked towards the door.
Du Shaoheng got out of the car and called out: “Junjun?”
Junjun turned around, realizing belatedly, walked up to him, and hugged him.
Du Shaoheng squatted down in front of him, noticing he seemed troubled, couldn’t help but ask: “You just got out of the car and walked straight inside, didn’t even remember to say goodbye to Dad. Is something bothering you?”
Junjun shook his head.
Du Shaoheng asked again: “Do you know about Mom and Uncle Rong?”
Junjun said: “Sort of. Uncle Rong likes Mom, and Mom also likes Uncle Rong.”
Du Shaoheng: “If, in the future, Mom and Uncle Rong are together, will it make you sad?”
Junjun: “No.”
He exhaled: “Dad, you should head back soon!”
Du Shaoheng said: “Alright, don’t overthink things.”
Du Shaoheng watched Junjun enter the house before driving away.
“The young master is back!”
The butler warmly welcomed him: “Did you see Mom?”
Junjun said: “Mom is doing well, don’t worry about her.”
As he walked upstairs, he asked: “Where’s Xiaoyi?”
The butler said: “She’s reading in her room.”
Junjun went upstairs, walked to the room door, and lightly knocked.
Through the door, he heard the sound of footsteps.
Xiaoyi opened the door, and upon seeing Junjun, her face lit up with a smile: “Junjun, where did you go?”
Junjun said: “I…”
He hesitated, unsure of how to begin, “Can I come in?”
Xiaoyi stepped aside halfway.
Junjun entered the room.
The two little fellows sat down on the floor.
Junjun glanced at the window, gathered his thoughts, then looked at Xiaoyi: “What do you call me?”
Xiaoyi was puzzled by his sudden question: “Junjun.”
Junjun smiled softly: “If your brother and my mom are together, what would you call me then?”
Xiaoyi covered her mouth in surprise, “Don’t say random things. How could my brother be with your mom? Aren’t they just good friends?”
Junjun: “Let me tell you a secret.”
He whispered to her ear: “Your brother seems to like my mom.”
Xiaoyi’s eyes widened, her expression even more stunned: “Really… fake…?”
Junjun: “Why would I lie?”
Xiaoyi was suddenly a bit confused.
She thought for a moment and suddenly said: “Will my brother marry your mom?”
Junjun: “I don’t know, it depends on if they can be together till the end.”
Xiaoyi said dazedly: “If they get married, then… should I call Aunt Li… sister?”
Junjun interrupted her: “Dummy, you should call her ‘sister-in-law’.”
Xiaoyi: “That works, I can accept that.”
Junjun: “But… then I’ll have to start calling him ‘Dad.'”
Xiaoyi suddenly fell silent.
She just realized if her brother married Aunt Li, he’d become Junjun’s dad, or rather stepdad!
In fact, Junjun felt somewhat awkward inside as well.
He thought back to when he first met Rong Ling, his instinct was to call him “big brother,” after all, Rong Ling wasn’t much older than him, but eventually, he called him “Uncle.”
Xiaoyi also felt awkward.
By then, Junjun would have to call him “Dad,” and as for her, she’d suddenly become Junjun’s “aunt!”
After the brief awkwardness passed, Xiaoyi suddenly clapped: “Then, I’ll be your ‘aunt!’ So later, you’ll have to call me ‘aunt,’ won’t you?”
Junjun said: “Calling you ‘aunt,’ do I get New Year’s money?”
Xiaoyi suddenly stopped laughing, shrugged her hands like she was giving up: “I have no money.”
Junjun chuckled, simply reaching out to lightly stroke her bangs: “Alright, stop teasing you.”
He slowly stood up to leave.
Xiaoyi also got up right away, reigning in her smile, and asked somewhat timidly: “Junjun, will we become family in the future?”
Junjun turned around, his serene eyes carrying a hint of surprise: “Aren’t we considered family now?”
Xiaoyi opened her eyes in slight bewilderment.
Junjun: “Don’t overthink it.”
With that, he left the room.
…
Half a month later.
Rong Ling was finally discharged.
Since the school term had already started, Professor Lu booked the next available flight, directly to New Jersey.
Airport.
The car stopped at the terminal.
Li Yufei and Rong Ling got out of the car.
The assistant took the luggage out of the trunk, Rong Ling took the suitcase, and Li Yufei took out two plane tickets.
