Chapter 682: Danger

Chapter 682: Chapter 682: Danger

Li Yufei’s expression was slightly grave.

If that woman was telling the truth, then this cruise ship is currently very dangerous.

If the Captain and First Officer have indeed been taken hostage, and the course has been altered, no longer stopping at Port City, it means... the entire ship is out of control.

In the vast ocean, it is undoubtedly a maritime prison.

Rong Ling said, "Do you believe what that woman said?"

Li Yufei said, "Not completely. After all, we can’t rule out the possibility of a scam."

She looked out the balcony, suddenly stood up, walked to the balcony, closed the door, locked it, pulled the curtains, and then went to the bathroom skylight, locking it as well.

The only solace was that she had two well-trained bodyguards traveling with her, temporarily ensuring her safety.

Li Yufei looked at Rong Ling: "For now, the whole cruise ship is operating as usual. Let’s wait and see. I’ll have my bodyguards try to make contact with the outside world. If the situation isn’t right..."

Rong Ling said, "Unlike other places, there are no escape routes here. The only escape option is the lifeboat on the 5F deck."

Li Yufei chuckled: "If the cruise really sails into Public Sea, even with a lifeboat, we’d have to contact satellites or maritime rescue first. Otherwise, trying to use a lifeboat to return to safety is pure fantasy."

She was now considering how to handle that woman.

Rong Ling said, "Let her stay in that room. Although I don’t fully trust her, let’s assume she’s telling the truth."

Li Yufei smiled, "If you don’t mind... you can stay in my room."

Rong Ling, "Okay."

Rong Ling returned to the room, outside the door, a bodyguard stood at the entrance. Upon seeing Li Yufei next to him, he asked, "President Li, what are your orders next?"

Li Yufei stepped beside him, whispered a few instructions into his ear.

Upon hearing, the bodyguard’s expression changed slightly, looking at Li Yufei with some skepticism.

Li Yufei said, "I’m not certain, but you must proceed with caution."

Bodyguard: "I’ll have Ah Wu check out the situation at the Captain’s cabin."

Li Yufei: "No need."

She pondered for a moment, "You and Ah Wu should patrol as usual, familiarize yourselves with the cruise layout and situation. According to the itinerary, the ship should dock at Port City tomorrow. If it doesn’t, then... it basically confirms if what that woman said is true."

The bodyguard nodded, "Understood."

Rong Ling returned to the room and began to pack his luggage.

He didn’t have much with him, most of it had already been shipped to New Jersey.

Therefore, he quickly finished packing.

Since he left the room, the woman had been hiding in a corner by the bed. When she saw him return, she didn’t dare speak at first, but seeing him pack made her anxious: "What are you doing?"

Rong Ling: "Didn’t you say your fiancé was assassinated? I don’t have the time to verify your claims, but since you’re seeking refuge, you can stay here for now. If the ship docks at Port City tomorrow, I will call the police."

The woman abruptly stood up and grabbed his arm: "Do you think I’m lying? What I said is true, all of it! Tomorrow, this ship won’t stop at Port City! The entire ship is already under control! And it’s not just one person behind it."

Rong Ling said, "I don’t care if you’re lying or not. So, you can have this room."

The woman pleaded desperately, "Don’t leave me alone, I’m scared... I don’t dare to stay here alone!"

Rong Ling said, "You said they were after you, didn’t you?"

The woman was stunned for a moment.

Rong Ling said, "If they’re targeting you, don’t you think asking me to stay and protect you is quite selfish? What if you drag me into this? Is it necessary?"

The woman was dazed for a few seconds, then muttered, "Is it possible that their goal isn’t just me, but all the first-class passengers?"

Rong Ling: "I’m not them, I don’t know what they actually intend. I only know if this cruise doesn’t dock at the harbor tomorrow, it’s going to be a serious problem."

After saying this, he calmly withdrew his hand from hers, "And, I don’t like being touched."

The woman humbly said, "Wherever you’re going, can I come with you? I promise, I’ll do whatever you say, I won’t even take the bed, I’ll sleep on the sofa or even on the floor. Just don’t leave me here alone, I’m really scared..."

The woman was so anxious that she was stomping her feet.

Rong Ling said coldly, "I don’t seem to have any obligation to protect you."

The woman said, "I’ll give you money, I have the keys to my fiancé’s account. Once we’re safe, however much you want, I’ll give it to you... Please, take me with you, don’t leave me alone..."

Rong Ling took a half-step back, expressionless, "Sorry."

With that, he said no more and left the room.

When Li Yufei saw him come out alone, she said calmly, "Do you really plan on leaving her alone in that room?"

Rong Ling said, "I haven’t kicked her out, that’s already more than enough."

Li Yufei said, "Let’s go back to the room."

Rong Ling: "Mm."

The two walked back to the room side by side.

The corridor was quiet along the way, with occasional tourists entering and exiting rooms.

On the surface, nothing seemed unusual.

Back in the room, Li Yufei opened her computer to check the network.

But the network still hadn’t recovered.

Li Yufei rubbed her brow, a bit annoyed.

If she had known earlier, she should have equipped herself with a satellite phone, so she could receive signals even in public waters.

Li Yufei stood up, facing the balcony, looking out expressionlessly through the floor-length window at the endless horizon of the ocean.

Rong Ling said, "Still no signal?"

Li Yufei said, "There are two possibilities. One, the cruise isn’t heading towards Port City and is already in public waters. Two, they’ve installed a signal jammer on board."

Either way...

It’s not an optimistic situation.

If the ship were traveling its normal route, it wouldn’t enter public waters. From Sea City to Port City, two nights’ sailing wouldn’t pass through public waters, nor would it lose all signals.

Rong Ling said, "I’m concerned they’re not after a single target, but all the first-class passengers. Every first-class passenger has a digital account, with a blockchain key. They want to seize all the blockchain keys from everyone."
