Chapter 744: Chapter 744: You’re Not an Only Child?
When he got to middle school, his grades took a nosedive and he ended up at the bottom of the class.
But after goofing off for three years, during the high school entrance exam, it was like he was possessed by Wenquxing. He scored in the top 100 in the city and was accepted straight into his mother’s alma mater.
However, in high school, he started to repeat his old ways and neglected his studies again.
In Liang Yin’s eyes, Rong Yin was a very gifted person. After all, both Mr. Rong and Mrs. Rong were top-notch smart academicians. Rong Yin didn’t like studying, let alone doing homework, but just by listening to lectures and flipping through books, he could understand the concepts.
She had carefully studied the test papers he had taken.
She could tell he was controlling his scores.
But it turned out he was truly lazy.
If he could score a passing grade, he was stingy about answering one more question.
He only got serious during major exams.
However, Liang Yin could also understand Mrs. Rong’s anxiety.
Liang Yin: "Next time score a bit more, 90 points is too low."
Rong Yin: "Oh! Didn’t I promise you to do better on the next exam?"
After a pause, he lazily propped his chin with his hand and pursed his lips, a pen dangling from his philtrum while he looked her up and down: "If I do well, do you have any special rewards for me?"
Liang Yin: "What kind of reward do you want?"
Rong Yin: "Haven’t thought about it yet. How about if I score high next time, you promise me one condition. Anything goes."
Liang Yin frowned and flatly rejected: "No."
Rong Yin retorted: "Hey! I’m not going to make you commit crimes, and I won’t ask you to do anything you’re uncomfortable with."
Liang Yin: "Who knows what kind of scheme you’re cooking up?"
Rong Yin said: "Then I’ll just fail the next test!"
Liang Yin’s face fell: "You!"
Outside the door, a servant was knocking: "Young master, the oldest young master is back!"
Rong Yin got up, his shoulders instinctively hunching: "Brother? Didn’t he go on a business trip?"
"Apparently, the projects went smoothly, so he returned home early."
Now, it was Liang Yin’s turn to be surprised: "You have a brother?"
She had always thought Rong Yin was an only child.
Rong Yin replied: "Yeah, my brother’s been abroad recently, supposedly handling some overseas business section."
After a pause, he put his arm around her shoulders: "I’ll take you to meet my brother!"
Liang Yin gently pushed him away: "Why do I need to meet your brother? And have you finished your homework?"
Rong Yin thought for a moment: "Even if I don’t do it, it’s fine. The teacher’s used to it. I’m just being considerate of her, grading so much homework every day, isn’t it exhausting?"
As he spoke, he dominantly took her hand and led her downstairs.
In the living room.
As Rong Yin came downstairs, he saw Li Junyan standing at the entrance, Li Yufei considerately helping him with his coat: "Where’s Dad?"
Li Junyan said: "He dropped me at the door, said there’s work at the company and he’ll be back tonight."
Rong Yin, holding Liang Yin’s hand as they came downstairs, saw from afar a man with a refined appearance walking into the living room, standing at 1.86 meters tall, a bit taller than Li Yufei, wearing a white shirt slightly pulled loose, with a face as warm and jade-like, exuding a mature elegance and giving off a stable presence in his every move.
Looks like he’s in his twenties.
Liang Yin: "How old is your brother?"
Rong Yin said: "Twenty-nine, almost thirty."
Liang Yin exclaimed: "I can’t tell at all; he’s almost thirty. Is he married?"
Rong Yin folded his arms, somewhat sourly: "Hey, are you interested in my brother?"
Liang Yin’s face reddened, angrily: "Can’t you seriously answer my question for once?"
Rong Yin said: "No."
His expression was somewhat unusual, seemingly slightly unhappy about Liang Yin’s excessive attention on his brother.
"Ah Yin?"
Li Yufei lifted her head and smiled: "Brother’s back, aren’t you coming down?"
Li Junyan slowly sat on the sofa, and suddenly, seeing Liang Yin standing with Rong Yin, his face showed slight astonishment, his gesture of adjusting his tie momentarily paused.
Li Yufei tugged at the corners of her lips and explained: "During your time abroad, Ah Yin changed tutors again. She’s called Liang Yin, a student at Jinghua University."
Rong Yin’s tutors had been scared off one after another.
From the moment he was born, the entire Li Family doted on him to the bone, inevitably cultivating in him a somewhat willful and rebellious personality, disobedient, though he acted obedient in front of Li Yufei, he was considered a school bully at school.
And Rong Ling’s view of his son was limited to one thing: just live.
He didn’t care about his son’s academic performance or what university he might attend in the future, only his character and morals. Thus, even though Rong Yin was a bit willful and rebellious, he was still well-mannered when out and about.
Though he was very good at angering people, he managed to leave others speechless.
Just like when Liang Yin first arrived, the little tyrant gave her quite a dilemma.
Liang Yin still remembered the first question Rong Yin asked her upon meeting:
"Since you’re a top student at Jinghua University, do you know why 1+1=2?"
He had asked this question to many tutors.
No one could answer.
Everyone thought the question was childish, clearly intended to make things difficult.
1+1=2 is an axiom of mathematics; beyond that, all addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and even geometry, are based on this simple axiom.
He had posed this question.
Of course, no one could answer it.
However, when it was Liang Yin’s turn, she smiled slightly, knowing it was a deliberate challenge, but this tutoring job was vital for her. Hence, she picked up a pen and listed rows of difficult formulas on the blackboard.
"The fact you can think of this question proves you’re a smart person. 1+1=2 isn’t an axiom but needs something more fundamental to prove it. This fundamental something was defined long ago by a mathematician named ’Russell’; the so-called ’1’ is the successor of ’0’."
Rong Yin didn’t expect her to write an entire blackboard full of notes.
But what surprised him most was that she erased them and continued to fill board after board.
"Back when Russell wrote ’Principles of Mathematics,’ it took 362 pages just to deduce 1+1=2. What you’re seeing now is just the tip of the iceberg."
Only then did Rong Yin completely respect and admire her.
Li Junyan’s gaze fell on Liang Yin, his eyes flickering slightly.
Li Yufei tentatively asked: "Do you also think she looks like her?"
Li Junyan nodded: "Kind of."
Li Yufei said: "The Huo Family looked for so many years, still no trace of her?"
Li Junyan: "I haven’t asked, but if there’s any news, they’ll surely inform us."
Rong Yin asked suspiciously: "Who are you talking about?"
