Chapter 305: Chapter 305: The Much-Followed Moments in Friends Circle
Huo Tingdong noticed that Han had not only learned to speak but was also articulate, clear in pronunciation, and could even use idioms now.
Huo Tingdong asked, “Why am I an exception?”
Han responded, “Hmph! Never mind!”
He received a small bicycle from Mommy and was so happy that he couldn’t be bothered to argue that much with him.
Time to cut the cake!
Han made the first cut, then Lin Qi distributed the cake to everyone.
Suddenly, Han noticed the sugar figurine on top of the cake and pointed, “Can I eat this little figurine?”
Momo said, “Of course you can eat it. They’re all made of fondant, with a sugar paste inside, and covered with sugar frosting. Each little figurine has a different flavored filling.”
Han got excited: “I want to eat it!”
Momo gave Huo Tingdong’s sugar figurine to him: “Here, eat Daddy up!”
Han disdainfully looked at the sugar figurine Momo gave him, especially its crooked mouth. He felt wronged, but suddenly curious about what filling Daddy’s sugar figurine had, he took a big bite out of it!
That bite directly beheaded the little sugar figurine.
Huo Tingdong watched as Han held the sugar figurine resembling him, with only half a body left, and felt somewhat horror-stricken.
Momo also covered her mouth: “Forget it, don’t eat the rest of the figurines, they look kind of scary.”
Han tasted it. It was his first time eating fondant, and he found the texture a bit strange.
He had a sweet tooth, but thought the fondant was too sweet. Even though it was his favorite chocolate flavor, he still preferred the cake.
So, he placed the half-eaten sugar figurine on Huo Tingdong’s plate: “Daddy, you eat it!”
Huo Tingdong showed a frown of disapproval: “I don’t want it.”
Han ate one piece of cake but it wasn’t enough, so he ate another piece, and swiftly devoured half a cake. Finally, with his belly round and bulging, he collapsed into the chair, groaning – clearly he had eaten too much!
“I’m eight now!”
He proudly declared, he had grown a year older!
…
The next morning.
Lin Qi hadn’t arrived at the office yet, and Maeve had just sat down at her desk when she overheard employees discussing, “Did you see Lin Qi’s Moments? She celebrated her son’s birthday yesterday!”
“She posted photos in her Moments. There were three children and a man, but apart from her, she covered everyone else’s faces with a photo-editing app.”
“Could it be her ex-husband?”
“No way, right? She’s about to get married, how could she still celebrate her son’s birthday with her ex-husband?”
Lin Qi’s Moments is public, but only shows posts from the last six months.
Due to her job, she is part of many groups.
Some colleagues are particularly interested in her and occasionally check her Moments for updates.
But her updates in the last six months are few and far between. One colleague randomly opened it yesterday and found she had posted a new update, two photos with the caption, “Dear Han is now eight!”
But in the photos, apart from her, the heads of others were covered with cartoon stickers from the editing software.
Maeve pulled out her phone, opened Lin Qi’s Moments, and saw the post as well.
She furrowed her brows. Even though the man’s face was covered, his demeanor, physique, and even the outline of his face were intriguing.
He was hugging Lin Qi, slightly bending over, but still much taller than her, definitely over 188 cm tall at the very least.
Who is this man?
Ex-husband?
Current boyfriend?
Wait a minute…
The little boy in the photo looks like a twin.
Did she have twins!?
While Maeve was wildly guessing, Lin Qi arrived at work on time and sat down at her desk.
Huo Tingdong invited her to have lunch together in his office at noon, and additionally, the lawyer should have prepared the agreements, a few of which needed her signature.
The property division procedures are exceptionally complicated, not something that can be sorted out in a day or two.
Since some of the agreements involve debt issues, they need to be signed before marriage.
Thus, all of his net assets registered under his name were to be split half to her, and regarding the debt issues, she signed a liability exemption agreement, which he would take on entirely by himself.
There are also several post-marital agreements.
There are many agreements to sign, and it will take a long time, including notarization. She would inevitably be late again for the lunch break today.
However, there is no perfect attendance award anymore, so Lin Qi doesn’t care.
Maeve felt annoyed whenever she saw her.
Especially since yesterday, after Qi Lichuan explained her grievances to him, he didn’t punish her at all. Not only did she feel embarrassed, but her credibility was entirely undermined too!
Qi Lichuan is famously stringent, always impartial and demanding towards his subordinates. Why then does he show mercy uniquely to her?
Could it be…
She really has a strong backing?
The next second, she laughed at her own baseless speculation.
How could that be possible?
Looking around Huace, the project team is hardly a prime spot.
If Lin Qi had strong backing, she wouldn’t be placed in the project team.
“Lin Qi!”
A colleague suddenly broke the silence: “I saw your Moments on WeChat this morning; did you celebrate your son’s birthday yesterday?”
Lin Qi replied, “Yeah.”
The colleague asked, “Did you have twins?”
Lin Qi hummed affirmatively, “But we’re not close friends, how could you see my Moments?”
The colleague suddenly fell silent.
Lin Qi knew all too well, and smiled slightly: “I didn’t expect you to pay such close attention to me; we haven’t added each other as friends, but you went out of your way to check my updates.”
She knew that, being in the work group chat, if she posted something, there would inevitably be nosy colleagues who would open it up to see.
Therefore, she had the foresight to edit the photos, to avoid any unnecessary gossip being spread by her colleagues.
The colleague said somewhat resentfully, “I wanted to add you as a friend, but you never accepted.”
Lin Qi said, “After all, we are colleagues, it’s generally sufficient to mention each other directly in the group.”
The implication being, colleagues are colleagues, and friends are friends.
She does not like to befriend people unnecessarily.
Han Na curiously said, “I just found out you have twin sons! Didn’t you say before that you only had one son?”
Maeve said, “Han Na, why bother asking that? One son for each after the divorce, Lin Qi, the man who celebrated with your son yesterday, he’s your ex-husband, right?”
Lin Qi thought for a moment, “Sort of!”
Sort of ex-husband, but also sort of fiancé.
But she was too lazy to explain specifically to Maeve.
Upon hearing Lin Qi’s ambiguous response, Maeve mocked, “Just say yes or no, what’s with all the secrecy? Do you also think that getting a divorce is something to be ashamed of?”
Lin Qi shot back without any courtesy: “None of your damn business.”
Maeve’s face went green, rendered speechless by the comeback.
Lin Qi continued, “You’ve forgotten the rules and regulations of the project team, as the team leader? During work hours, personal matters should not be discussed.”
Maeve: “You…” She almost couldn’t hold back from cursing out loud.
