Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Who Sent You?
That afternoon, after Maeve had packed everything up, she was taken away by the investigation team again.
In the days that followed, Maeve never appeared again.
Among the investigated colleagues, some were suspended, others proved their innocence and disassociated themselves, returning to the workplace.
The vacant positions were filled with new employees, and all the projects that Maeve had been in charge of were transferred to other teams for follow-up.
And so, several days passed peacefully.
That afternoon.
Lin Qi had just returned from lunch and saw Han Na lying on the table, clutching her stomach, a face pale with pain and covered in cold sweat.
Gently laying a hand on Han Na’s shoulder, Lin Qi could feel that her entire body was shaking. “Han Na, what’s wrong with you?”
Enduring the pain, Han Na said, “I think… my appendicitis is acting up.”
Lin Qi was somewhat surprised: “Appendicitis?”
Han Na explained, “I started to feel abdominal pain after lunch… I don’t know what caused it… but it hurts so much I can’t move.”
Lin Qi said, “Then you should take time off and go to the hospital to have it checked…”
Han Na replied, “I… I don’t have the strength to stand up… it hurts too much…”
As she spoke, beads of cold sweat from her face kept dripping onto the table from time to time.
Lin Qi lifted her head, looking around.
Her colleagues were all busy with their work. They had all noticed Han Na’s condition, but they all ignored it completely.
Lin Qi asked, “Shall I help you ask for time off?”
Han Na said, “Lin Qi… can you… help me get a taxi to the hospital? I…”
Lin Qi helped her up.
Clutching her stomach, Han Na remained hunched over, unable to straighten her back at all.
It looked like it really could be appendicitis.
Lin Qi had suffered from appendicitis before; during the pain, you simply can’t move, and any movement hurts immensely.
She told Han Na, “I’ll take you to the company’s entrance!”

Lin Qi, dragging Han Na, entered the elevator, took out her phone, and called a taxi for Han Na.
Near the CBD, hailing a taxi was difficult, especially during peak hours, and they kept on waiting without anyone accepting the order.
Just as Lin Qi was escorting Han Na to the company’s entrance, she saw a taxi parked at the doorstep, and she immediately waved.
The car slowly approached.
A driver wearing a beret got out and opened the door for Han Na.
Lin Qi intended to let go after helping Han Na into the car, but instead, she was pushed into the back seat as well.
Lin Qi was momentarily disoriented. As she looked up at the driver in bewilderment, she heard a “bam” when the driver closed the car door and returned to the driver’s seat.
Immediately, Lin Qi said to the driver, “Mister, just drop her off at the nearest hospital, that will do, I need to get out.”
She had just intended to escort Han Na to the entrance and had no plans to accompany her to the hospital.
However, the driver was staring straight ahead, started the car, and slowly pulled away.

The car door locked from the inside.
Lin Qi’s heart skipped a beat, sensing something was amiss, but when she tried to forcefully open the door, she found that the car was locked from the inside, and the windows wouldn’t open.
At this point, she started to realize that something was seriously wrong.
Han Na also looked up in confusion and said, “Mister, stop the car! Stop the car.”

The driver remained silent, with the car’s speed increasing by the minute.
Lin Qi looked at the rapidly passing street scenes outside the window, her red lips tightly sealed. She quickly calmed down, pressed Han Na’s hand, and signaled her to keep silent.
Han Na started to feel uneasy.
She had never encountered such a situation before. She thought the car was called by Lin Qi, but then she belatedly realized something was off about the driver!
The car left the bustling downtown area, heading towards a deserted and empty space.
Twenty minutes later.
The car suddenly stopped.
The driver got out of the car, opened the door, and dragged Han Na out of the car.
Han Na shrieked, “What are you doing… what are you all doing…”
She instinctively struggled.
However, the driver threw her onto the side of the green belt, closed the car door, and returned to the driver’s seat.
Lin Qi seized the opportunity, trying to open the door to get out, but the next second, just as the door was opening, the driver suddenly said coldly, “I warn you, don’t move, or else…”
He pulled a spring knife from behind his waist, and with a “zing,” the blade sprung open.
Lin Qi’s movements froze.
The driver said, “Close the car door.”
Lin Qi looked out the window.
Han Na had just clambered up from the ground in a sorry state.
She held her abdomen, trembling with fear, staring at the half-open rear door, completely bewildered. She initially thought that the driver intended to assault her, but to her surprise, he just threw her onto the green belt and left her there.

Their target was Lin Qi?
Han Na looked at Lin Qi, wanting to rush forward and pull her out of the car to run away together, but her feet seemed rooted to the spot, and she didn’t dare to approach.

The driver said irritably, “Why do you ask so many questions?”
Lin Qi said, “Do you know who I am?”
The driver remained silent, obviously not wanting to talk too much with Lin Qi.
In her heart, Lin Qi sneered.
She said languidly, “Let me guess, you were hired to kidnap me, right? But she must not have told you who I am, right? Otherwise, if you knew who my husband is, you wouldn’t dare lay a hand on me.”
The driver was taken aback, “Who is your husband?”
Lin Qi said, “My husband is called Huo Tingdong.”
As soon as she mentioned this name, the driver hit the brakes hard and stopped abruptly.
From his reaction, Lin Qi knew that he had definitely heard this resounding name before.
This made it much easier to negotiate.
Lin Qi tugged at the corner of her mouth and casually counter-asked, “I guess, was it someone with the surname ‘Maeve’ who directed you to do this?”
The driver suddenly turned his head to look at her.
Lin Qi raised an eyebrow, “Oh? Did I guess correctly?”
It was indeed Maeve who had instructed them.
