Chapter 572: Chapter 572: Don’t Recognize Him Anymore
Li Yufei didn’t know if Junjun could understand, after all, he was so young and might not grasp such complex rules.
Junjun didn’t think much about it, since his mom told him to call “Grandpa,” he obediently did so.
Junjun looked at Old Mr. Li and called out, “Grandpa.”
Li Hede was taken aback and speechless.
Though he had mentally prepared himself all night, facing Junjun now, he couldn’t help feeling a bit dazed.
He and Li Yufei were different.
Li Yufei was decisive about any feelings that shouldn’t be lingered on, but Old Mr. Li, being older, found it difficult to let go despite knowing and confirming that Li Siyao was not his biological granddaughter.
Now, seeing Junjun, his emotions were even more complicated!
Before this, he had never met the child; he had only heard about him from Li Yufei.
She had told him that Li Cheng had cheated and had a son with another woman, named Li Junyan.
Now, this child turned out to be his biological grandson!
Old Mr. Li was overwhelmed with mixed feelings and didn’t speak for a while.
Junjun looked at Li Yufei in confusion: “Mom, does Grandpa not like me?”
Old Mr. Li immediately said, “No! How could that be! You are Grandpa’s biological grandson, how could Grandpa not like you?”
Junjun said, “Then, why isn’t Grandpa talking?”
Old Mr. Li hurriedly explained, “Grandpa was just stunned for a moment.”
Junjun said, “Oh! I see.”
Old Mr. Li saw Junjun’s legs, securely fixed due to such serious injuries, and it made his heart tremble with fear.
He looked at Li Yufei and asked, “How did he get hurt so badly?”
Li Yufei said, “The school organized an exchange study program, and there was a car accident on the road. He got his leg broken trying to save a fellow student.”
Li Yufei rarely mentioned the accident in front of Junjun, fearing that such a severe incident would leave him with a serious stress disorder.
But her son was braver and stronger than she had imagined!
Li Yufei briefly explained Junjun’s injuries to Old Mr. Li.
Old Mr. Li listened, occasionally casting a glance at Du Shaoheng.
Du Shaoheng, sensing the situation, stood up and said, “Yufei, I have something to do, I’ll go first.”
Since Old Mr. Li had arrived, he felt his presence would only add to the awkwardness.
With Junjun having his mother with him, he wasn’t worried. He hadn’t rested well these past few days and wanted to go home for a nap.
Li Yufei said, “You should go back first.”
Du Shaoheng nodded and left the ward.
Just as he stepped out, Old Mr. Li’s face turned serious and he said, “Yufei, it’s been so long since you broke up with him. Don’t you feel awkward meeting him now?”
Li Yufei said, “No, why should it be awkward? Just because we broke up, does it mean we are enemies?”
Old Mr. Li said, “Since you’re divorced, what about him, what’s his stance on this?”
Li Yufei listened and laughed, “Dad, what do you hope he would say? You wouldn’t wish for him to get divorced too, so we can remarry, right?”
Old Mr. Li said, “I can see, you sincerely love this man! He loves you just the same, so why not cherish each other?”
As Old Mr. Li spoke, he sat down by the bed, “Yufei, after all, I’m your father, I understand you. Back then, you broke up with Du Shaoheng for the sake of the Li Family inheritance! But now, I see your capability and know you are more qualified than anyone to inherit the Li Family! The Li Family is now in your control, and no one can shake your position in it! At this point, you should think about yourself!”
Li Yufei listened, but remained unmoved, “Dad, not all love must have a result.”
She admitted that the person she felt most sorry for in this life was Du Shaoheng.
She had never loved him properly.
But, what’s done is done.
Once a decision is made, there’s no need to regret.
She never regretted any decision she made.
…
A month later.
Junjun could finally get out of bed.
Although he couldn’t leave the wheelchair after getting out of bed, at least he could sit in the wheelchair and get some air outside the ward.
For a long time, he had been lying in bed, as Momo said, he almost became a mummy.
With his injuries healing, he could finally leave the ward and see the outside world!
To him, this was truly a rebirth!
In the afternoon, Lin Qi brought Momo and Han to accompany Junjun for a walk, and she also brought Zhouzhou and Yinyin along.
Not far behind the hospital, there was a large lawn.
On nice days, people would fly kites on it.
Du Shaoheng pushed Junjun to the lawn. Lin Qi brought a small tent, Momo and Han took care of their younger siblings, and Du Shaoheng helped set up the tent with her.
Lin Qi said, “Junjun, wait a bit, Auntie made some desserts, they’re in the car, I’ll go get them.”
Junjun: “Okay.”
The tent was set up.
Momo laid a blanket outside the tent and brought Zhouzhou and Yinyin out.
Now, both were big enough that not only could they sit up, they’d also learned to crawl on the ground.
The blanket was large, allowing the two little ones to crawl around on it.
Du Shaoheng lifted the wheelchair onto the lawn and secured the wheels.
Junjun looked up at the clear sky. Today was indeed a rare good weather day.
He looked towards the tent, Zhouzhou had grown a bit, becoming more lively and active, crawling around the blanket and occasionally rolling over.
Yinyin, however, was much quieter, always sitting obediently on the blanket, holding her beloved toy, occasionally biting it.
Suddenly, the little one bumped into his gaze!
Yinyin saw Junjun staring at her and, surprised, widened her eyes, while pulling at Momo’s coat, she pointed at him, babbling.
Junjun wondered, “Why does she look so surprised when she sees me?”
Momo said, “She doesn’t remember you.”
Junjun: “…”
Momo brought Yinyin over to Junjun.
Junjun lifted his head, his beautiful eyes tenderly gazing at Yinyin.
Yinyin nervously fiddled with her little hands, seeing Junjun staring at her, she didn’t dare to meet his eyes. At first, she pretended to look around indifferently, but when she turned back and saw Junjun still staring at her, she was so scared her little face crumpled and she almost burst into tears.
Junjun was immediately amused by this little one, “Why is she crying?”
Momo said, “I’m at my wit’s end too; she didn’t like to cry when she was younger, but now she’s grown a little, she’s starting to know how to cry.”
He tenderly took a handkerchief, wiped Yinyin’s tears, and comforted, “Yinyin, don’t be afraid, he isn’t a bad person, he’s a good guy.”
He understood that for Yinyin, Junjun was now a stranger. A stranger staring at her, of course, made the little one scared.
