Chapter 577: The Final Negotiation

Chapter 577: Chapter 577: The Final Negotiation

Huo Tingdong and Lin Qi went back to the hospital, while Momo and Han stayed to look after Zhouzhou and Yinyin. At that time, Li Yufei also arrived.

She felt a bit disgusted upon hearing about the afternoon’s incident.

No matter what, a grown man using violence against a woman is really losing one’s dignity.

Huo Tingdong took the children away.

Du Shaoheng entered the ward, and Li Yufei noticed immediately that he had a bruise on his face: "I heard you also got involved?"

Du Shaoheng replied, "Yes."

Li Yufei said, "If you’re injured, go home early. Today, I’ll stay and look after Junjun."

After a pause, she added, "Oh, by the way, would you be available to help me look after Junjun tomorrow during the day? I have something to do."

Du Shaoheng listened but didn’t ask further: "Alright."

Evening.

Lin Qi came home and couldn’t wait to check Momo’s injuries.

A ring of abrasions encircled the neck, with a deep strangulation mark, but fortunately, Du Shaoheng’s timely first aid prevented worse outcomes. Had he not handled it calmly, Momo might have been in serious danger.

Lin Qi was still shaken.

Though it was an accident, she realized how fragile life can be—a mere kite string can end a life.

Lin Qi brought the first aid kit and carefully treated Momo’s wounds.

Momo looked up and saw the anxiety and care in Lin Qi’s eyes, and laughed: "Mommy, really, this little injury isn’t worth all this fuss."

Lin Qi said, "Fuss? Do you know, had it not been for Uncle Du’s timely intervention, the kite string would have nearly severed your neck."

Momo said, "Who would have thought he would suddenly push me?"

Lin Qi said, "Momo, you’re different from many kids. You’re more mature, stable, and sensible than kids your age. But kids your age often act fearlessly out of ignorance. Like that boy this afternoon, he had no idea the horror of a kite string wrapped around the neck, cutting through it."

Momo said, "Mommy, it was an accident. Don’t worry, I’m really okay."

After a pause, he added, "Have you heard the phrase ’a small disaster turned into a big disaster’?"

Han on the side said, "I’ve only heard of ’troubles never come singly.’"

Momo glared at him coldly: "Did I teach you idiomatic expressions so you could misuse them like that?"

Han said, "Why are you scolding me!"

He felt a bit aggrieved: "Do you know how dangerous what happened this afternoon was! You almost scared me to death!"

Han was sulking, arms crossed, as if he was angry.

Momo found it a bit curious: "Honestly, Han, this afternoon was the first time I saw you get angry."

He always thought Han had a good temper, cute and easygoing.

But unexpectedly, when Han really got angry, he displayed a bit of an older brother’s demeanor!

All along, Han had treated the title of "Brother" as something to use when it benefitted him and discard when it didn’t. Until today, when he saw his brother being bullied, Han stood up fiercely for the first time.

Huo Tingdong always taught him to be polite and gentlemanly, so he’d let go of things even if they were troubling.

However...

Momo couldn’t help but admit that having Han stand up for him made him feel very warm!

Han said, "Though being a brother isn’t fun, but I’m your brother! If I see you being bullied, I can’t stand it! I’m still regretting it; I should have hit harder, I should have been more ruthless!"

Momo suddenly laughed, reaching out to ruffle his hair: "Alright, I’m already very touched you stood up for me like this. How much more ruthless do you want to be? You almost split his head in two!"

Han didn’t immediately understand: "What do you mean?"

Momo said, "Didn’t you see the huge bump on his head? That was from your hitting."

Han snorted: "Serves him right! Hmph, I really think I should have been even more ruthless! Is there not a saying that ’a man is not a man without a bit of poison’? Even if he kneels before me, I won’t forgive him for bullying my brother!"

Momo: "Is that how you use ’a man is not a man without a bit of poison’?"

Lin Qi said, "Alright, I understand that you brothers love and care for each other."

Han rarely blushed with embarrassment.

He suddenly went quiet, just silently watching Momo. Out of the blue, he reached out to touch Momo’s neck, and upon seeing the skin lacerated by the kite string, he felt a pang of heartache: "Does it still hurt?"

Momo said, "It’s a flesh wound."

Fortunately, Momo was wearing a turtleneck sweater; otherwise, with such a strong wind this afternoon, if not for the collar blocking it, his skin would have been cut through.

Lin Qi said, "It’s getting late. You both should rest early, hmm?"

She packed up the first aid kit and stood up: "By the way, Momo, for the next few days, avoid getting water on the wound, it might get infected."

Momo: "Got it."

The two little guys bathed and obediently climbed into bed to sleep.

...

The following afternoon.

After lunch, Li Yufei returned to the company.

When she entered her office, her assistant approached: "President Li, the person you’re expecting is already in the meeting room."

Li Yufei: "Understood."

She strode to the meeting room door and gently pushed it open.

Inside the meeting room.

Li Cheng had been waiting for two hours. Li Yufei suddenly wanted to see him, and he planned to use this opportunity to negotiate properly with her.

It’s said that after a hundred days of marriage, there should be some feelings left.

He knew Li Yufei didn’t have any love for him, but no love doesn’t mean there’s no sentiment.

After so many years as a couple, he thought there should be some decency; even in divorce, Li Cheng was unwilling to leave empty-handed.

Upon hearing the door movement, Li Cheng immediately stood up from the sofa.

Li Yufei stood at the entrance, coldly appraising him with a slight curve of her red lips. Her assistant, standing behind her, promptly handed over two documents and then left the meeting room.

Li Cheng got a bit excited and instinctively took two steps forward: "Yufei..."

As he approached, Li Yufei expressionlessly took two steps back, coldly saying, "Who gave you the permission to speak to me this closely?"

Li Cheng retreated half a step, frightened by her gaze.

Li Yufei: "Sit back down."

Li Cheng dared not hesitate and immediately returned to his original seat.

Li Yufei sat across from him.

She casually spread the two documents in front of him.

Li Cheng was puzzled and asked, "What’s this..."

Li Yufei: "See for yourself."

Li Cheng was just about to reach out, but Li Yufei interrupted him: "Wait."

The man raised his head in confusion.

Li Yufei warned coldly, "Li Cheng, let me be upfront. Between us, there’s a large unsettled account. As for how this account is settled, it depends solely on your attitude. Additionally, I want an explanation for why you swapped the two children. If I’m not satisfied with your explanation, then don’t blame me for being ruthless."
