Chapter 188: Familiar Figure

Chapter 188: 188: Familiar Figure

It was a long trip through the woods that night, but soon Eden and Lenny arrived at the light of the night streets.

They found humans walking around—city dwellers moving around on their horses and on foot.

The marketplace, which they found themselves bursting out of from the woods, was really impressive for them.

"We made it..." Lenny said, standing on Eden’s shoulder.

Eden looked around. "At least we made it without powers, because I couldn’t tell where my powers would have taken me to," he said, coughing. "At least we were able to dry ourselves with it."

"You should find a medicine or something soon," Lenny pointed out.

"We’re in a market, so I guess we could get something at least," he said.

The night market was beautiful, with yellow lights filling the streets along with people strolling through its path. It was indeed a lively view.

They strolled through the market, partially admiring it while also looking for a medicine or something for Eden. But they didn’t find anything after an hour of strolling.

"I think we’re lost," Eden pointed out as they stopped at a place—a spot close enough to someone selling clothes.

"It really is a big market..." Lenny agreed.

"I think we need to find out where we are first," Eden said, now looking around.

"SILVANA CITY," Lenny said. "It’s a march headed by some marquis guy called Marquis Dean or something."

Eeden stared at him. "How do you know that?"

Lenny pointed at the huge signboard up ahead. "There."

The sign had the name of the city and the name of the marquis in charge.

"I guess he wanted to promote himself," Lenny shrugged.

"Do you think we should go meet the marquis in charge?" Eden asked.

"And why would you want to do that?" Lenny questioned.

Eden shrugged. "I mean, we have nowhere else to be, and we don’t know the way out of this city. So I think he’ll be of help."

"You’re the wizard of EL. He’ll want your head too."

Eden nodded. "I know. At least that will get his attention."

Lenny sighed. "We certainly won’t be finding it anytime soon. And it’s already night, so we need somewhere to rest our heads tonight."

Eden ran a hand through his hair. "I think we should look around. Maybe we’ll find somewhere."

And they did. They looked around, and what Eden saw was rather a familiar face up ahead.

"That person..." he said, staring at a distance—the distance where the grand building was situated, the building meant for the marquis’s meeting.

"Who?" Lenny looked in that direction too.

"Him... I think I know him. I’ve seen him before..." He looked closely and soon he recognized the man.

"That’s Adrian’s butler," Lenny said. They stared at the distance, watching as Mr. Hugo walked out of the grand building.

They watched as he walked in the company of some guards and they moved in unison to the backside of the building.

"Where are they going...?" Lenny asked.

"It means Adrian is here somewhere," Eden said. And for the first time, he couldn’t believe he was actually excited that he’s here.

He was in the middle of nowhere and he didn’t know how to leave. So knowing that someone he had already encountered, even if the person wanted his head, was something.

"Yes," Lenny nodded. "Are you going to meet him?"

"Of course." Eden was already making his way to the building.

"But he also wants your head." Lenny was used to reminding him of the dangers involved in everything he wanted to do.

"I’ve spoken with him before, so I think I can handle him," Eden said. He was a fair shot at leaving here at least.

Eden figured just following them and making himself known wouldn’t be such a wise idea. He didn’t know where they were heading to, so it’d be best if he went incognito.

And so, as Eden stared at the guards following Mr. Hugo behind, he decided to camouflage himself.

And so he cast a spell on himself while praying it worked. And luckily it did. He was soon covered in the same guard uniform as the guards following Mr. Hugo, and he instantly joined them from the back.

He followed them to the backside of the building while Lenny puffed into purple dust.

---

Mr. Hugo had his hands behind his back, his expression serious as he walked ahead into a dark alleyway.

The guards followed behind—guardsmen who belonged to Adrian. Eden also followed them.

They soon arrived at a spot, and before them was a man standing in the dark at a distance.

Eden stared ahead. He couldn’t see the man’s face and he wondered who the hell Mr. Hugo was meeting in the dark, and wondered why he was meeting him.

He guessed he was executing some secret plans for Adrian. That was the only reasonable explanation since he was his personal and trusted butler.

He kept staring, wondering who he was, because this person was still standing in the dark with both hands behind him.

"I have everything set up," Mr. Hugo said. And just then, this man walked out of the dark.

As he walked out, Eden could see his face now. But he still didn’t know who this man was. He hadn’t met him before, so he couldn’t recall him.

This man, Mr. Marquis of Silvana, had both hands behind him. He strolled into the light and his face was seen more. He stared at Mr. Hugo, who was standing with him with some guards.

And then he stared at the guards for a while and then said, "Is everything set?"

"Yes," Mr. Hugo nodded. "The guards and secret assassins are all ready for action. We’re waiting for your go-ahead order to begin its execution."

Marquis Dean looked around and observed the guards Mr. Hugo had come with. And then he stared at Mr. Hugo as he said, "Are you sure about the situation with Adrian?"
