Chapter 92: Feeling Human

Chapter 92: 92: Feeling Human

"You?"

"Me? I’m also lost..." He said still standing at a distance and staring at her.

Eden was still confused as to why she wasn’t freaking out at the sight of him. But rather talking with him??

"Your face..." Helen said pointing to Eden’s face "You have some... Bruises"

Eden touched his own face.

He was too busy running for his life and rolling down the pit that he didn’t notice that his face had been bruised by those bushes.

He panicked "My pretty face..." He blinked.

He was okay with breaking his legs or something.

BUT HIS PRETTY FACE WAS HIS EVERYTHING!

While he stood there running his hands through his face and panicking over the fact that his perfect face was ruined, Helen sat there staring at him.

She smiled "Why don’t you come sit here? I made something to eat"

She offered as Eden stared at her wondering why she was still being nice to him.

It bothered him and left him wondering if the "nice" female lead was actually plotting something against him.

Did the plot change to have her plot to also want him dead??

Anything was possible at this point.

But the meat she was cooking was too good to overlook.

And Eden’s stomach had begun singing at the sight of the meat, his mouth watering.

And so he gave in.

Eden went to sit down beside Helen on the tree trunk that lay flat on the ground.

She offered him one and he accepted, taking a bite. It felt really good! He took another and another, eating it down like one who hadn’t eaten for days now.

Helen smiled watching him eat "Take it easy. It’s not running away" She said as she fried the other.

Eden couldn’t tell why the hell a delicate young lady had such a supply of good meat in the middle of a pit she didn’t plan to get lost in.

It actually didn’t make sense, but she was the female lead after all.

Eden guessed it was one of the benefits of being around the leads.

They were quiet for a while. Eden ate while watching Helen fry up some meat. He still couldn’t understand how she was so calm around him.

It didn’t sit right with him and so he asked "You know who I am, right?"

"Yes, The great wizard of EL. Why?" She asked, her eyes still on the meat.

"Then why are you so calm around me? I mean.. you should be scared or something. Running away or even trying to kill me... Why are you so calm?" He inquired, knowing she’d reply.

She always did. She was one of the least dangerous main characters in this book. Along with Lysander.

Helen smiled as she said "Because I don’t find you scary"

Her words left Eden confused for a while "Why? I mean it’s said that I killed thousands of people and did a lot of evil things. They say that I’m a monster or something.. so you should be scared and not even want to spend a moment with me. So why?"

Helen still smiled "They said it. You didn’t say so" she now stared at him.

"People can be misunderstood, I was too. So I know how it feels, so I won’t judge anyone too soon. I don’t want to make them feel the way I did"

Eden blinked "How do you know I’m misunderstood? What if I say I wasn’t..?"

"I’m pretty good at reading people at first impressions. And I could tell from the first day that you were a good person" She concluded.

Eden blinked again. He didn’t know how to feel about it at all. But he could say it was typical of her character.

She was a simple character who would trust anyone that easily based on the ideals of being a good person.

A typical female lead who would meet a demon that slaughtered ten thousand innocent people and still tell this demon "This is not the real you... You’re a good person..."

At the moment, Eden didn’t know how to feel about this whole situation.

Cringe or feel at ease? He would go with rather being at ease

He was human too. And it was already tiring having everyone you meet hate and detest you for what you never did.

It was already tiring having to always be wary when he met someone.

He also wanted to be treated like a human too.

He also wanted to be treated normally with kindness. So even if this meant her being cool with him, he was okay with the level of ideology she had.

"I also overheard what you said back then..." Helen added.

"Huh? What?" Eden was confused.

"You made the crown prince think that you poisoned me. Even when you didn’t. I even heard that you almost tore down the palace to protect the crown prince..."

She smiled "It only solidifies the fact that you are a good person. A good person who has been misunderstood and only wants to live by all means. Even if it means lying..."

Eden paused. He didn’t know if the author made he hear the news as she is the female lead or she had gone in search of it itself out of care for the sick male lead.

But for the fact that she didn’t even ask about Elvis or so made Eden wonder if this female lead even liked her male lead??

The female lead should be worried about the male lead of the book, right?

"So.. that’s enough for me to conclude that you’re a good person. So I won’t hurt you" She now smiled at him.

Eden felt human at least.

The thought of people threatening him like one made him feel like one again. Especially in a world where everyone didn’t think so.

It was a feeling he never thought he’d need. The feeling of being human.

While they quietly sat there staring at the meat roast in the fire, Eden thought about what Helen said.

Something about also being misunderstood.

None of that was in the novel.

Her character was so shallowly written that she pretty much had no in-depth characterization. A reason why Eden never liked her character.

But she had mentioned something about her that wasn’t in the novel.

Something that had actually grabbed his curiosity.
