Chapter 101: 101: An Ambush?
They were still in the woods.
Eden and Felix were still in the woods when they had made the deal.
And now the two of them began walking through the woods together.
Both were quiet while they walked, different thoughts running through their heads.
Felix was excited about his powers which he had seen a glimpse of. One he could potentially stimulate into something bigger.
But he was also worried about the fact that he would have to do stuff with Eden to get those powers.
He wondered if he had made a wrong move by agreeing to the deal.
Was it a mistake on his side? Or did he actually make the right move? He wondered.
While Eden on his side also couldn’t stop thinking about the fact that he had to get intimate with Felix to temporarily obtain his powers.
It certainly didn’t seem fair but it didn’t seem like there were any other alternatives. He would have to bear with it for the time being.
Look on the bright side, he thought, at least he was getting his powers back.
"Where are you going?" Felix asked from behind. the two were moving without a definite destination that he had to ask
Eden stopped and then looked around. He too didn’t know "I’m looking for a way back. Obviously." he said.
"Back where?"
"To the palace of course" Eden stated.
Felix hesitated for a while, staring at him. He had heard about him staying at the palace so he didn’t doubt his words.
But he also had his worries "I can’t freely come into the palace at will. So how do we even meet up for practices?"
Eden thought "Oh.That’s true though"
Eden knew he would seldom leave the palace if he went in. Even if he did get the opportunity to leave, he was certain that someone would probably stalk him to know what he was up to.
Someone from the royal family.
"Then maybe you can find a way to sneak in to my room side" Eden suggested. That was the safest place in the palace for him.
Felix hesitated "Why would I come to your room ..?"
Eden read Felix’s expression "Hey, it’s not like you’re coming to get raped or something. That’s the only place we can practice. Or don’t you want to learn?"
Eden knew the type of practice he was hinting at. And what better place could one have for it other than the bedroom?
"Besides.." Eden added "That’s the safest place I can think of"
Felix didn’t agree yet. He still had his eyes on Eden while making his considerations.
But before he could finally decide, an arrow was shut in their direction. It was a miss, so the arrow hit against the tree behind them.
Eden gasped as the two of them stared at the arrow.
Immediately, they turned to see where it had some from.
They caught sight of a young man sitting on a horse. In his hand was a bow and by his side were some arrows.
Eden recognised him as one of the noble men at the dining table that morning who also dined on his pizza and cocktail!
"What’s wrong with you?" Eden questioned "What was that for?"
"Isn’t it obvious?" He said pulling another arrow and setting it on the bow.
It then hit Eden that he was the wizard of EL, someone whom these nobles certainly wanted to kill with their hands.
And the haunting was the perfect spot for them to do that.
"Jeez, I almost forgot..."Eden mumbled while staring at the young man who had set his arrows, now ready to strike.
"You ungrateful bastard. You had my meal and enjoyed it. And now you want me dead? That’s so unfair!" Eden snapped.
"Who cares about your meal. What I want the most right now is your head!" He shot out the arrow. And this time Eden had to dodge it intentionally else it’d actually meet him.
He stepped to the side and so did Felix. Another arrow came almost immediately, and he also dodged it.
He couldn’t continue doing so. He possibly wasn’t that skilled enough to dodge all of them. He would certainly be hit by one of them.
Soon came another arrow from another side. Eden dodged it as he looked at three more young men on horses who were now circling them.
"You all better leave, I found him first so I’m the one who’s going to have his head" The first claimed.
"No one cares if you found him first. What matters is who is going to have his head first" Another added.
"Well we know you guys aren’t going to beat me to it. I’ve been preparing for this moment for ages. And I won’t let any of you snatch the win from me!"
The young noble men were getting competitive over Eden’s head. And Eden could only stare at them while wondering if this was how he was to die.
Four arrows were shot. All flying towards Eden’s position.
He didn’t know how to dodge them all without having one or two stuck on his chest or something. It seemed impossible for him
And so he found his brain going numb. Eden just stood there, almost motionless as the arrows flew to claim his life.
But they didn’t succeed. Felix had stepped in. Standing In front of Eden while he brushed off the arrows with his staff.
He was pretty skilled with the staff. Eden observed as he watched the arrows disperse in different directions.
And like that he was safe again.
"I’ll protect you, Master" Felix said.
Eden didn’t know if his heart was to flutter while he stood there or if he was to start running.
But either way, he had figured out something on the spot.
That he could actually activate his powers temporarily. And his cheat code for doing so was standing right in front of him!
Eden suddenly smiled.
