Chapter 74: 74: An Impending Plan
That night, Eden was in his chamber with Lenny. Chatting while stroking the cat’s furs.
"You did a really good job tonight with the dragon effect. I’m proud of you" Eden smiled, patting him.
Lenny sighed "I’m so exhausted. Do you know the amount of energy I had to use??"
Eden smiled "I know. Don’t worry, I’ll feed you to replenish your energy"
"You better" Lenny said "Did you really have to go to that extent for him? I mean... You two aren’t that close. You’re just business partners"
Eden hesitated "You have to be friends if you want the partnership to bloom" Eden smiled knowing that he did it out of genuine pity for Elvis.
And he knew Lenny was smart enough to tell as well.
"I’ll still remind you not to fall in love with him. You can’t fall in love with a fictional character" Lenny said "It’ll complicate things"
"Am I that easy?" Eden asked "Don’t worry about me"
"Whatever" Lenny mumbled "And I also did warn you. You shouldn’t have gone to this event. Did you see the drama that was caused?"
"It was pretty much unexpected. Plus, none of what happened today followed the original novel" Eden thought for a while.
Lenny nodded "I could tell. The plotline is really... going somewhere that’s unpredictable at this point"
"Which is bad" Eden let out a long sigh "How the hell am I supposed to be Omniscient in this world if things keep changing? That’s not fair"
Lenny sighed "It always happens. That’s what you get for changing the script to start with"
Eden sighed "How frustrating. I guess I’ll have to play based on my intuition now... Boring"
"Well at least look on the good side. You might actually end up with a better relationship with The Crown Prince. He might end up protecting you genuinely now"
"Hard to tell. But let’s see" Eden shrugged.
"I can feel it" Lenny said "And the prince guy as well. The Royalties will soon be in your harem"
"The only hard knot to crack now are probably the grand duke and marquis. Those two look like they want to kill me on the spot. Like always. They’re scary" Eden pointed out.
"Of course they want you dead. But if you’re able to hit the right spot with them, you should be able to get them under your fingers" Lenny suggested.
Eden paused, confused for a while. "Hit the right spot...?"
Lenny blinked "Curse your rotten mind!" He snapped "I didn’t mean that"
Eden smiled "Whatever. Either way, I guess we’ll have to get it done at this haunting event. I’ll take it as my chance to have them all"
"You’re really going for that event?" Lenny questioned "Don’t you think it’s dangerous?"
"It is. For sure. But it’s my best shot at winning" Eden explained.
Lenny sighed "We all know that the event will rather be a haunting ground where everyone wants your head, right?"
"I have the crown prince and prince Lysander. So I’m protected at least" Eden expressed.
"That’s not enough. You can never tell what will happen"
"I know" Eden nodded "But that’s the only place where I’ll have a chance to win them over"
Lenny stared at him for a while "Why? Do you have any plans?"
Eden nodded "Yes I do."
He explained "According to the book, these male leads all have their reasons for wanting to kill the wizard. It’s not solely for the glory of killing him.. but because they get to meet the emperor and request something from him. Because the emperor will grant them a wish"
Lenny nodded "Yes.. that’s right. So you plan to use their desperate ambitions against them..?"
Eden nodded with a smile "Exactly. I’m going to use their motives of meeting the Emperor to get them"
He explained "Although the book didn’t explain in detail what they wanted, but we did get a glimpse of it"
Eden said, stroking Lenny "It’s obvious that the Crown prince did it for his father. Who in turn wanted to meet the Emperor to grant him the gift of expanding his territory"
"For Prince Lysander, he’s just following his mum’s order who asked him to do it so he’d let him have whatever he wanted. Still the same aim I guess for the royal family..."
Eden now thought "For the Grand Duke.. he has a long ass beef with the Royal Family"
"He believes the death of his family has something to do with the Royal family. But even though he’s a grand duke, he doesn’t have enough power against the royal family to investigate. So his aim of meeting the Emperor is for the Emperor to help him investigate against the Royal Family while bringing them to ruin"
Eden concluded "That’s his aim"
"And we never got to know if the Royal family was truly behind it all.." Lenny said
"Yeah. It’s still a mystery. We didn’t get to that Chapter. So we don’t know if they were truly behind it. But at least that’s something I can use against him..." Eden nodded.
Lenny nodded "That’s interesting"
"The Mage guy who I’ll meet at the Haunting Event is one who wants to meet the emperor so he’ll have the Emperor reinstate The positions of Mages"
Eden continued "According to the book, with the appearance of the wizard of EL, The Emperor had banned all mage activity across the Empire. It is now a taboo act. Nothing in relation with magic should ever be seen"
"The Emperor took it down which led The Mage guy to flee"
"But..." Lenny thought "Isn’t the Mage guy sorta silly?"
"Huh?"
"I mean, according to the book. He doesn’t have any magical powers at all. Even though he still claims to have some locked within. So far in the book, we didn’t see anything. All we see is a silly guy claiming to be a Magical mage. Yet has no powers"
Eden thought "That’s a mystery I guess. We also never got there in the book" Eden sighed "Gosh what was the author doing with 500 Chapters that these plot points weren’t discussed yet?"
