Chapter 57: 57: The Tattoo
Crown Prince Elvis had watched Adrian walk back into the banquet hall as he turned to look ahead. He saw Eden standing at the corner of the empty hallway.
Eden had seen him too. The two of them stand at their ends, staring at each other for a while.
"Why’s he out here?" Eden thought as he watched Elvis approaching "To meet me?" He thought "Why do they keep coming one by one?"
Soon Elvis approached him "Why are you still out here? You should have gone back to your chamber"
Eden stared at him without saying anything.
Elvis continued "And.. were you talking to Adrian? Do you know each other? How did you two know each other?"
Eden stared at Elvis’s curious face. He could tell that Elvis was scared that his opponent would snatch him and kill him before he did.
"Why? Why would I tell you about the two of us and how we know each other? And why are you asking?"
Eden raised an eyebrow "Are you jealous?" He let out a flirty smile.
"Are you jealous that he’ll snatch your loved one away from you?" Eden continued "Well don’t worry, I only have eyes for you...."
"You should leave here now" Elvis cut him off "You can’t stay here. Go back into your chamber"
Eden frowned with a slight pout "That’s not a way to take care of someone"
"I was never taking care of you" Elvis said "I didn’t sign up to babysit you"
Eden rolled his eyes "Whatever"
"So don’t think of causing any mess and leave now." Elvis instructed.
At the moment, Eden had a quick observation on Elvis’s face. He could clearly see that he had gotten pale.
Elvis had been working for long now without taking a break so it was no surprise that the illness Eden had placed in him had been triggered easily.
And Eden hadn’t given him the pill for a while now.
"But you don’t look too well..." Eden wanted to point out while offering him the pill.
But Elvis brushed it off "Just leave, I’m busy" he said as soon as he caught sight of some maids approaching from the other end.
The five maids approached with trays of wines in their hands each.
It was clearly exclusive wines that was prepared for higher ranking nobles. Eden could tell as he watched Elvis approach them.
"Follow me, I’ll show you where to take it" Elvis instructed them.
He was in charge of the event. So it was no surprise that he was also overseeing how stuffs like the distribution of the wines and all were going.
Elvis turned to Eden "Make sure you go back now, Okay?" He said as he led the maids towards the entrance of the banquet.
Eden rolled his eyes again. "How annoying.." he mumbled. He just wanted to help the sick-looking guy. But it seemed he didn’t need it.
Eden had casually stared at the maids that were heading inside with Elvis.
And for some reason, his eyes caught a sight of one of the maid’s neck. And he saw a scar on her neck.
Eden would brush it off if it was an ordinary scar. But it wasn’t. The drawing was similar to a dragon tatto.
He wondered if it was a scar or a tattoo.
But while he thought about that. He also found it extremely familiar. The sight of the scar reminded him of a description that was given in the novel.
A description of a maid with the same dragon-like tattoo.
"That...." Eden mumbled, tilting his head as he watched the maids go in.
And at the moment he tasked his head to recall where he read it in the book. And he did remember.
"But... It wasn’t supposed to happen in this event... She isn’t supposed to be here... So why...?"
Eden looked shocked and confused as he stared at the entrance door. He didn’t seem to understand what was happening at the moment.
He had read this scene from the book. And the scene didn’t happen at this moment at all. This event didn’t take place in this particular banquet at all!
The original scene happened in like, later into the book when Helen had began living in the palace with Elvis.
It happened at a Grand banquet. A banquet that was set by The King to officially get Eden and Princess Cordelia officially engaged. Even though he knew Helen was still there and that Elvis liked Helen.
It was more of a forced engagement because he had threatened to harm Helen if he didn’t get engaged to her.
Elvis had agreed to it but planned to turn Cordelia down officially at the event. He had wanted to end it all to be with Helen.
But before he could even do that, Queen Lea was already plotting harder.
Queen Lea had schemed to make Helen the one in charge of preparation of the drinks for the event. Helen was pretty much bullied by her in the palace, so she agreed without any complaints.
She was in charge of the drinks.
And Queen Lea had planned and poisoned the drinks for the high ranking nobles and all. And with the harmless poisoned drinks that made one’s stomach uncomfortable, drama ensued in the banquet.
Queen Lea wished to use it to have Helen in big trouble. And have her castaway by the Emperor because the imperial princess Cordelia would also have the drink.
And in the same manner, Queen Lea would also achieve having The Emperor cutting off Cordelia and Elvis’s marriage plans.
She didn’t want them to get married because that way Elvis would most likely be the King. He wanted it all for her son. He wanted Cordelia for her son as well.
It was all her plan that day. And she had hired this tattooed maid for the plan.
The novel said the lady didn’t work in the palace at all. And she was the only one with a tattoo here as well. And that Queen Lea had brought her to execute the drink poisoning plan.
And Eden had just seen the lady.
He was beyond confused as he tasked his brain to think about why she would even be here.
It wasn’t the scene at all. It wasn’t an engagement banquet between Elvis and Cordelia. Helen wasn’t even living here. Talk more of having handled the drinks.
This scene wasn’t supposed to happen anything soon. At least not without Helen here.
So why the hell was Queen Lea’s hired maid here and serving a possibly poisoned drink at this banquet??
